Title: Idolm@ster SP - DLC discussion
Post by: digi162 on July 16, 2009, 03:30:50 am
I'm creating this thread for discussion about DLC that has been released, going to be released, or DLC you hope to see for the PSP version.  Just to rebuild a thread that disappeared from the old board.

---

Current catalog as of this post is Catalog #6 which in my opinion is the best one to date.  The costume to dress idols in swimwear is now available and so is the song Do Dai.  I spent the last of my PSN points to download a bunch of stuff from this catalog haha.

What I found interesting were the free background downloads you could get.  In the game download folder, PNG images show up there in relation to the background you downloaded.  I haven't gotten around to testing it yet, but if the game displays that PNG image, I'm wondering if you could edit that image to display something differently behind the idol.  I've attached the 765 one in case anyone wants to take a look at it.

'Kamisama no Birthday' is mentioned in the game data, so it's confirmed we will eventually get that sometime soon also.

To be honest, I was surprised we got Do Dai so early.  It might just be my bias for liking the song more than others, but I thought we would have gotten something like Shiny Smile or i this month considering we got Furufuru Future last month.  Kamisama no Birthday we will eventually get like you said, probably around christmas time I hope, might seem odd to release it earlier.  I agree with the speculation, My Song seems highly likely as the next one.

I wondered the exact same thing from the moment I downloaded it. And as hoped, it works. No need to edit the license files, as long as the filename stays the same the game accepts it as simple as that.
Proof:
(Sorry for the boring background)
I guess that means we'll be seeing more Takane and Hibiki in MADs soon... And it probably also means Namco isn't going to try and charge us for more backgrounds, which surprises me. If they were going to make it this simple, might as well have given us a function to import our own backgrounds in the first place...

Anyway, I love the Angelic Force costume. It's my favourite Extend costume so far. I think it looks particularly nice on Makoto, Yukiho, Azusa and Chihaya.

also the only thing that i can speculate to come out in catalog 7 that is accurate is
the next song is 'My Song'
The yukata maid was also for #7, wasn't it?

^In the (in-game) 765 Shop. The button for viewing it is next to the one for buying it.

I've been fooling around with the backgrounds a little more, and apparently it doesn't take just any png of the same size (512x256). Not sure what it depends on, but anything saved in a bit-depth of 8-bit seems to work.
Sorry for the big pictures. :-[

Rather than replacing... wouldn't it be really great if someone figured out how to have more than two custom backgrounds?

And maybe we should make a new thread for exchanging working stage backgrounds? (Since it doesn't really relate to DLC discussion anymore)

How am I supposed to access the downloaded dramas?
after you download it, theres a separate button other than 'download' that says 'watch' thats how you watch it

also for the custom background, wasnt this already a topic on the old forums?
despite that, i got my info on some japanese board, and judging me i used the troll face, aw year.
and other backgrounds, if i had CFW i'd screenshot it.

Can we post past SP DLC here too?

sure, i'll post em

I think I figured it out now, so never mind, but thank you anyway.

...actually it was really simple. Don't know why this didn't work before, must've been something wrong with the pic I used then.

Anyway, all you need to do for virtually unlimited original stages is save them as i00.png, i01.png, i02.png, i03.png, i04.png and so on and as long as all of them have the correct (512x256) resolution and a low bit-depth it seems like they'll work. Apparently there's no license data to begin with.
I wonder if maybe Namco just gave us these two backgrounds to point out that we can easily use our own as well? (Well, for the slow people like me who didn't know already that is... XD)

Making one is quite simple actually. Although you won't be able to use stuff downloaded with different PSN accounts at the same time, so if you're actively using your USA account I guess it might be a bit troublesome.

Title: Re: Idolm@ster SP - DLC discussion

Yeah, another memory stick is a good option.  Although that might be a pain swapping that constantly to play Idolm@ster, unless you put some of your other saves on it.  I'm planning on getting a 16GB one once the PSP Go comes out cause of the switch to digital downloads.  I'll hold on to my current one for use with the JPN PSN network.

I don't believe it works that easily. The PSN account is associated with your PSP, not with the memory stick in it. Of course I guess you could reassociate it every time but yeah, that'd be a real pain.

Just choose that because the PSP Go is going to have 16GB flash memory on it.  It probably would be smarter just to get a 4GB but I have no clue what the download size for games will end up being or what sony has planned (like if you'll be able to convert UMDs to digital, etc.)  I'm just planning on that, but it'll probably be smaller or something.

you're best better be getting a 8 gig IMO
16 gb is too much and unnecessary, its like buying an xbox elite and barley touch your xbox.
true, game sizes to vary. the most a game can have is around 1 - 1.5GB which are suzumiya haruhi no yakusoku, im@s, crisis core, and god of war. other games like ace combat, tales series, gundam games and monster hunter freedom and unite are like 500-700 mb (still dunno the memory size for project diva)
but you can always just delete games from your memory and add new ones if you dont like em or want to play something else but dont have enough memory space. of course your game savedata will be there just not the game.
its ultimatley up to you sir

Its title is 君はメロディ/Kimi ha Melody (spelling unconfirmed) and it seems to be coming as soon as next month's DLC. Although SP DLC will only be released at the very end of the month from now on.

I don't have any 'official' sources to link to I'm afraid, but they'll be coming soon enough. For now it's only some blogs and 2ch reporting that it was announced at a live concert today. The song was also part of the live and apparently it was pretty good. I believe there was also some sort of announcement about a successor of IM@S Radio btw.

Good thing I'm not a fan of those puchis, otherwise my wallet would be bled dry ;D

That Yayoi wolf costume looks awesome (is that the winning design for September?), but it'll be less awesome if you have to purchase all those pieces individually.

What the? A case of "Honey, I shrunk the Idol?". A bit hard to believe... though if that's the case, I should really consider some of the other oddball stuff in Im@s (Takane possibly being from the Moon, Haruka's song being heard by aliens, etc).

Everything else looks pretty nice, though. And that Puchimas is just too adorable. :D

note that this month's catalog, the sp original song "kimi wa melody" is 150 yen total for all characters instead of 150 yen per character, which makes it 1800 total.
paying only 150 yen will have the song inputted onto all your characters.

NBG is actually not being greedy for once.
take advantage of it quickly :K

Post by: digi162 on August 22, 2009, 06:26:01 pm
I'm jumping on that bandwagon.  From what I felt from the PV, Haruka really didn't sing it that well, Yukiho seemed to be doing alright with it at first but further in it sounded worse, Azusa sang it decently enough, and with Takane it just felt a bit out of place.  I'm wondering if this song is more for the loli trio with the way it sounds.  I'd like to add the new song if it was 150 to get them all, but if they are sticking to 150 each they're out of their minds right now.
Title: Re: Idolm@ster SP - DLC discussion
Post by: TweenDoriru on August 22, 2009, 06:42:46 pm
I really liked Takane singing it, she sounded good. I'm not sure if I like the puchimasu thing, though; just...to me, when they have it on their head it looks like they're trying to balance it.

Opinion might change after I watch the preview a few more times, but Azusa's segment (imo) looked like her dance was a bit stiff for trying to keep it from falling off her head XD

If I had the capability to buy the outfit, though, I would in a heartbeat! :D It kinda sucks that the boots are DLC too, though. The outfit looks better with them...

Actually, these were my thoughts as well. Takane and Azusa sang it well in the preview, but they didn't really make the song lift. So I ended up thinking that it would be a good song for Ami, and that it should get better when I'd listened to it more times.

Somehow these catalogs always seem to be released a little early, and this one is no exception; it's been up for download for a few hours (?) now. :D

Anyway, after listening to the in-game quality version of Kimi wa Melody I must admit I've come to like it more than I did at first. Loved Yayoi's version in particular. Also the yukata simply looks great on her.

...now I need to find out where to get my puchis...
EDIT: Looks like the puchis can't be downloaded from the in-game shop. Have to wait till they're available on the PSStore. :(

Yeah, I also like the song more now after having heard a lot of it. And I think that the longer version will be even better, since to me it feels a little short as it is now.

From what I saw on niconico, I actually liked Miki's version by far the most. Her performance looked the best to me and she was the only one that really made the song lift. Though Yukiho, Azusa, and Takane also sounded very good.

Okay I am really liking these boots.  It's nice to have a pair of usable shoes that go well with several other outfits like the school wear, etc.  I noticed the new school wear lists the 961 idols can wear it as well.  I tried right now to reinstall the school wear off my list of downloads thinking it would give me an updated version but it didn't haha.  Oh well, at least if you missed the pre-order you get a little extra here.

That dress looks pretty casual, I'll just steal it so we can all be hardcore.

Stealing is bad, you'll only make people sad with it.

I love this costume, I will probably get this one as soon as it is released. I wonder how they will animate the wolf's tail,  Its a shame they are not updating L4U anymore I think this one would have been awesome with of the hair psychics added to the tail...I think out of all of the extend this is my fave costume joint with the Pop Sound Blossom one.

Does anyone know if they are having a song up for download this month aswell as the costume?  if they do I hope its a new one...but they would have advertised it more so its probably going to be from L4U if they have  one at all that is..

... You could take realistic physics oh so far... *drool*
XDXDXD
Though looking at it from a logical point of view, even if they were updating, could they insert physics for the hair separately from other materials on different costumes?

cheeky ;) I see what you did there lol :D

Though looking at it from a logical point of view, even if they were updating, could they insert physics for the hair separately from other materials on different costumes?

It depends on how they model the costumes, as the physics would be linked to the actual model, if the tail is a separate entity they could add the same physics they use on the hair to it without affecting the dress part of the costume....though that being said I have notice quite a few ocassions when polys have overlaped or the texture maps had being streched..so im not sure how the tail will affect the outfit.

I still can't wait to see it though its well ace! :D

If it's the composer of "shiny smile" and "massugu"...
I think it's will be good.

I think there have been tsundere males before in animes (namely, APH; can't say I'm positive for this one because I don't watch it), so it's not... too surprising.

its gonna be physically impossible to translate this until someone can upload a video where i can actually PAUSE the damn thing without the actual game going on by itself.
yes i tried pausing the idol drama but it just keeps going under the pause screen.

edit: Scotty agreed to record it, i'll translate it once hes done later tonight.

Scottyedit: I'm lazy and told him to wait for a video feed of it from youtube or nico, since it deserves a much higher quality than a silly 1.3MP camera in front of a TV.

Dumb question:

I just bought all the Nightmore Blood DLC and downloaded the Makotopuchi, I also bought a song and the kotoripuchi I copied everything over to my PSP (bought through the store on my PS3) and the only things I can see in game are the Kotoripuchi and the song I bought.  Am I missing something?  Are there catalog files I need to download like on the 360?  If so where can I find them?  I can't seem to find anything that looks like a catalog file on the store.  Also the file it creates in my game folder for the DLC is tiny (~768kb) and I know it should be bigger seeing as the Nightmare Blood costume itself is 11mb.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hello, first time posting here.

So, I just finished going through the grueling process of making a Japanese PSN account and putting money into it, so I'm thinking, okay, time to finally get that Im@s DLC! However, When I pick the option in-game to download the catalog, it only lets me pick from catalog 3. How do I choose content from other catalogs, or can I not do that?

2 questions.
Have you downloaded 'Download Plus' directly from PSN yet?
Are you running a *coughcoughbackupcough* version of the game?

Nevermind, I just went straight to the store and bought the stuff.

Edit: Meh, it won't let me watch the dramas I downloaded. How do I get around that?

@BT2: The answer to your second question is yes.

@BT2: The answer to your second question is yes.

Quote from: iM@S wiki
Items downloaded from Catalogue 4 and upwards and the catalogue itself require Download Plus, a 5 MB file that can be downloaded on the PSN. Download Plus allows players to use and download newer items and at the same time block users who use a Custom PSP Firmware from using newer items. Even if one downloads a file directly from the PSN, it can't be used if Download Plus doesn't work.

Nico link to Im@s SP Catalog 9 PV (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1256227863) (I noticed there's a link on dengeki's site too)

Hmm, the dramas are really funny, I watched the beginning of puny Yukiho (Little Yukiho, Big Adventures?) and it was great (Makoto didn't believe it was Yukiho for the longest time I think <__<; )  So I'm really excited for this one (although little knowledge of Japanese is not good)

Yay for Shiny Smile being on SP~ Nay for having to spend even more money on songs x:

(too bad there was no takane or hibiki singing a portion of it in the pv ]: )

... h4 are you excited about being in chihaya's body?

matane sounds absolutely amazing, I actually loved all who sang it in the preview x: (... meaning, Hibiki, Haruka, Ami, Ritsuko, and Miki).

and im@s dramas are still great, the other two haruka's that appeared start arguing and Haruka tries to shut them up with no success x:

To me, it feels like the coreography for songs that debut on the PSP seem...so much different than the ones that started on the 360. Dunno why. I like them, though.

The new Mata Ne song is awful: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8905396

I love Yayoi's version (since for some reason she sings it like she just got dumped or something)
Hibiki's is probably the best out of all of them though.

Considering the pac-man problem in the game, honestly surprised they choose to make a slow song.

WHY CANT THEY AT LEAST MAKE AN UPDATE FOR LIP SYNCH? or at least make it so that on the hi notes they keep their mouths open
last time i checked i cant sing hi notes while opening and closing my mouth like im chewing gum or chasing after glowing ghosts.
Title: Re: Idolm@ster SP - DLC discussion
Post by: TweenDoriru on November 25, 2009, 01:51:53 pm
Well, I don't think they'd stop slow songs all together because of the lipsynch issue XD Considering that SP is the only "active" iM@S game, that's there only way to get it out there besides putting it on a CD...

I actually like it a lot, though. Maybe it's due to my earphones, but on my PSP the BGM seems to drown out some of the voices. :s I wouldn't let the chewing gum face effect change my opinion of the song XD

I like Ami's version (though it's iffy at some parts), and Yayoi's version is really cute. LOVE Takane's.
edit: Actually...a lot of them are good, though I haven't listened to them ALL. I even like Iori's.

I'm just saying I'd rather have something more upbeat with a distracting dance that avoids highlighting the pac-man affect.  Genki Tripper would have been amazing for the portable IMO.

Oh yes, I prefer upbeat songs as well (generally, not just because they usually hide the nonexistent lipsynch XD). I'm just saying that even with the distraction of the pac-man effect, Mata Ne is a pretty good song imo.

and Genki Torippa would be amazing to see, I wish they'd actually do it XD

DLC has been average across the board IMO.  I'm not looking forward to next month because I know it's going to be that Kamisama song.  Most likely what Taco told me before, they'll probably include that holiday dress.

I had no clue DLC already came out for this month X:

mata ne still sounds great, everyone sounded pretty good, the lip syncing made me lol though.  And I thought the Wedding dresses were okay in L4U, but now that I saw... it more on SP, I came to not like them at all. X:

And Takane =/= wedding dress imo X:

I've been staring at the Dengeki page for a while.  Is the Holy Night Dress different for each character?  I'm seeing like 4 versions of it on that page.  At least one more catalog has to be guaranteed next month for a Hibiki puchimasu.  Especially if they're putting a Takane one in this catalog.

ALSO HOLY IDOLM@STER OUTFIT BATMAN

Anyone see the last screenshot in the video?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/digicharat162/overmaster.jpg
edit: You beat me to it xD

Confirms the Best Version of the game next month, but it looks like OVERMASTER is coming out next month for catalog 12, which is coming out 1/27?  Seems like if you buy a version of the game, you get the idol's version of the song and a head accessory.  BUT if you look at the accessory you get for Wandering Star, it's not available in any of the current catalogs.  However, if you dig through L4U catalogs to see what it belongs to, it's the accessory for パンキッシュゴシック AKA that super special awesome goth outfit:

Overmaster?  Goth outfit?  Next month might be pretty awesome DLC wise ;D

Finally! Overmaster!

Oh and, yeah there does appear to be more than 1 version of the Holy Night Dress.
Hibiki and Takane have the Red/White swapped ( where it's red for Hibiki, it's white for Takane )
Hibiki has a green 4 leaf clover
Takane has a blue 4 leaf clover
Makoto's neck is different, she has a green ribbon with thick stripes
Iori's got stripes and no shoulder pads and a small green ribbon
Yukiho has stripes with shoulder pads and a big green ribbon with thin stripes
Haruka's ( based on the buying menu picture ) is plain with a thick long yellow ribbon

Huh, I guess it confused me because we haven't had a dress like this before in the catalog, it's only been minute differences in color.  I should have just searched youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CayrvpZX230

Looks like characters got paired to share the same version of the outfit, like Ami & Yayoi, but it's different all around the pairings.

hmm
Not really, compare Iori.
In that video clip hers is pure red.
In the PSP images, it has a pattern

At 0:18 you can see Yukiho's arm, and it has no pattern. Yet the PSP images show a pattern.

Cause of the quality its hard to say, but there appears to be no pattern on Makoto's neck, yet the PSP images show a pattern.

So I believe the outfits are being changed to 1 per character.

Edit:
Taking a wild guess here, but:

Old = they keep the xbox 360 outfit
New = they get a new outfit

Ritsuko - old
Azusa - old
Haruka - old
Chihaya - old
Ami/Mami - old

Yayoi - new
Yukiho - new
Iori - new
Makoto - new
Miki - new

Takane - new
Hibiki - new

I'd find it ridiculous if Namco were to do that.  To be 12 catalogs in, introducing the best versions, only to still have no Overmaster.  If 2/3rds of the accessory gifts weren't already existing items, I'd believe that.  However it just looks like recycling what will be existing items as presents, not a pre-order bonus like the school wear.  Until Namco proves me wrong, I'm still looking forward to Catalog 12 ;D

FFT I WANT KISS X:

anyways, this months is kinda meh.  Takane and Hibiki though are very good at Kami-sama no Birthday~

I'm excited for Overmaster; although I'm not sure if I'm buying the Best ver. (or w.e they're called) yet.
Title: Re: Idolm@ster SP - DLC discussion

I agree, this month is kinda meh, mostly because it's nothing really new and sorta expected :-\

If you have all of them already I wouldn't bother.  Unless new content is confirmed to be in them, but even then it would depend on what was added.  Best Versions are just Greatest Hits - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_range  Same game just sold cheaper and under new packaging.  You can see the new packaging here http://www.jp.playstation.com/psp/pspthebest/index.html  Thinking like Namco, the pre-order gifts are to entice people to purchase more DLC.  If you like the song for instance, you might be tempted to buy it for more idols, if you like the accessory, you might purchase the outfit and the rest of the accessories to complete it, etc.

School uniform took...was it 10 months? before it came out for sale.

If they release it for all characters will probably depend on sales IMO. If a lot of people are buying it just for the song they'll definitely cash in on releasing it for all Idols. 961 Pro should get it atleast, they already have the song in the game files. Plus, Haruka, Takane, Hibiki and Miki already know the lyrics. 961 Pro sings it on the radio and Haruka sings a few lines of it at various times in her story.

I think they should release a 961 Pro version + Overmaster.
Set it after the other 3 games but before Im@s DS, so it can bridge the gap.
...Then you entice people further by including a pre-release picture of awakened Miki :)
Instant sales!

Lets face it...they have 961 Pro listed in the 'Buy Mail' page, so we know they have or had plans for it ;)
As for extra 4th character...completing Miki-Awakened mode's story could make that version a choice. Then they don't need to change the DLC menu :)

I dunno.... would awakened Miki even fit into this version of the universe? I get the feeling wouldn't, because I think awakened Miki would have no reason to leave in the first place.

agreed
if miki goes ssj then she'd basically do anything P says and just straight come back to 765 productions and then just dominate the whole idol ultimate by herself, which would make it boring and unfair without a challenge.
ssj miki will always be xbox only exclusive until further notice :K like how hibiki(?) and takane will always be sp exclusive.

yeah well... not exactly
the only info given was said by gamiP(producer of NBGI) who said that the 765 idols will return and that hes not allowed to say anything else.
that is the only official information given about the upcoming game thats going to be announced in summer 2010. rest is all speculation and what fans want.

though obviously and most likely they will be in the im@s 2...they should or else japan deserves to get nuked again, this time with a warhead hydrogen bomb.

Is there any word on what will happen to the Puchimasu campaign once they go through all 12 idols?

1-2 and 4-10 cover 765 Pro
4 and 11 ( and probably 12 ) cover 961 Pro

There's 1 for each catalogue so could it be a hint that DLC will be ending soon?
They could extend it 1 more with Kotori

So possibly catalogue 12 or 13 could be the last one?

The main game had 12
While L4U had 17 or 12 depending on how you look at it ( 13-17 were just ported over SP content )

Now SP is about to reach that magic number 12 next month, could it be the last catalogue?
Title: Re: Idolm@ster SP - DLC discussion

Kotori was interestingly the first one in catalog 3 -
(http://www.bandainamcogames.co.jp/cs/list/idolmaster/sp/765shop/img/acc_09.jpg)

I'm actually wondering the same, if it will be the last.  I'm not so sure though since all the recent dresses have been pulled from the Xbox DLC.  Just like SP content allowed the Xbox DLC to extend it a couple more catalogs, I'd have to assume the same with SP.  I mean it wouldn't be that hard either, there are some dresses like the cheerleader, nightgown, etc. that IMO wouldn't be that complicated to recreate in PSP form.  Plus with Best Versions coming out to get more players, they could probably milk it a little longer just recycling xbox content.  Plus we haven't gotten overmaster, i, or any of the remixed tunes.  So there's probably enough content sitting around to make DLC ride out till the next major console release.  I dunno though.

Isn't Overmaster the only confirmed song?
We haven't had any confirmation of KisS or that other Christmas song by 961. More so, the game doesn't mention them in the text. ( It mentions OverMaster and Kamisama no birthday for example )

For example, here's the Kamisama no Birthday text:
Quote
# [Haruka]
# 「『神さまのBirthday』、これが
'Kamisama no Birthday' is my new song...
# 新曲……。クリスマスの歌なんですねっ♪」
It's a Christmas song♪

For example, here's the Kamisama no Birthday text:

[Omitted]

That's because NBGI lazilly copied the text from the 360 version.
Any song that's not originally in iM@S SP, excluding Overmaster(?), is simply referred to as 'this song' or 'that song' after selecting it, or when used at the last concert, including the songs that should have text data assigned to them.

Ah I see.

I honestly can't see the remixes being put in without the song choice menu being patched/changed ( It'll be too big in my opinion  ) unless they have a system in place already for the remixes but it's not being used currently.
Was it mentioned if the Master Artist tracks will have remix versions? I remember it was talked about a while ago. If it's confirmed there are remixes then we do have a lot more catalogues to go since they would launch them in SP most likely.

Also, isn't the twin pack of the original idolm@ster considered the 'Best Version'? They came out right before the end of DLC for L4U if I remember right.

So from what we know:
There will be 12 catalogues minimum due to the Puchimasu campaign ( 11 = Takane, 12 = Hibiki )
There's still 2 songs left ( thus 13 catalogues minimum for i and Overmaster )
The remixes are the wild card ( if they are put in ). They could have 1 per DLC + Xbox clothes, or they could have them all at once, ect.

Oh, and a personal note:
961 Pro should get Overmaster free :P
What...did they forget the song or something?  ???

you are right
because they reached 1 million downloads on psn netword + the promotion of release for imas sp psp the best up to catalog 4 everything is cut in half.
also with that said; overmaster isnt going to be for all characters per version, just for chihaya, yukiho and haruka only.

between 1/27 ~ 2/22 catalog 1 & 2 are cut in half
and between 2/24 ~ 3/29 catalog 3 & 4 are cut in half
only between those dates will the price cut take effect.

Sure there is. Look carefully and you'll see a flash of white in the right spot.

On topic: I can't help but feel a little disappointed at the variety of Idol Dramas that SP has to offer compared to L4U.

While the Incredible Shrinking Yukiho, Chihaya switching bodies with the Producer and having Haruka's conscience split into three entities are...interesting, to say the least, I'd like to see more Dramas on "normal" situations, like the Off Sketch series in L4U.

kinda have to agree somewhat on that, the off sketches were probably the best dramas in l4u...(its the only ones i see other than ones that utterly dont make sense at all)

me P switching bodies with chihaya was interesting and so were few other dramas on sp, there was one that was similar to an offsketch which was when iori puts her hair down, nothing out of the ordinary going on in that drama. :K

Wait, my newtype senses are tingling. I sense a trap! A horrible trap by Scamco!

EDIT:

HOLD IT! I forgot it's only the 26th where I live. Maybe...

You know, I love Overmaster as a song, but I'm sitting here going through all the idols and I'm honestly not finding many I like. :/ But, as usual, the 961 girls are part of those few I like. >_> *sighs* If only they were playable in story/free produce, then I wouldn't mind buying songs for them as much.

At least I have until the weekend to look this all over, since my college's wi-fi won't let me get into the PSN to buy anything, so I can't buy anything until I go home (which I'm doing this weekend).

no one so didn't see i posted in the wrong thread

Anyways I don't have much to share at the moment because I've only gone through Makoto and Haruka (which I like both >_>; ).  Although; is it just me or is it like right in the beginning, just a split second, they kind of look like they're trying to air guitar? XD;;;

I will never be able to take Ritsuko seriously since the mention of angry nerd rage voice yesterday on dA.

Anyways, I'm done listening to everyone; Chihaya's on repeat for some reason.

I skipped all the 961 idols because I know I'll like them all like almost every other song.

Hmmm... The ones that really stuck on me as a like; Haruka, Chihaya, and Makoto.  The one I really really didn't like was Yayoi -- it just... sounded weird.  Everyone else was... okay... If I had the money, I wouldn't really buy it for them... that's a lie, I probably would buy overmaster for everyone

I would have liked Iori's the best; if I didn't think she sounded so angry in the beginning because she was forced into singing a '961 song' XD.

Ritsuko sounds pissed.

This. And it honestly made me dislike her version of the song. Dx And I was hoping for a good version from her.

I went through all of them now, but I still only really like Ami/Mami's, Haruka's (sorta), and Azusa's. And IMO Hibiki's is the best from the 961 girls, so I might get her version. I'm prolly only going to get Ami/Mami and Hibiki's versions though. Maybe the Punk outfit as well, I forget how much yen I have left. :P

Only ones I liked were Yukiho, Haruka, Iori, Ami, Makoto, Takane, and Hibiki versions.  Not bad at all, that's like half the crew.  Although why'd you screw this one up Yayoi come on =/  Don't you have some pent up poor woman rage somewhere you could of used for this song?  At least I can dress you all gothy looking and pretend you're writing emo poetry about how dark the world is >:3c

In regards to the swimsuit error, it hasn't happen to me.  Either because you guys don't have download plus installed or the outfit may require you owning the original?  I have both of those conditions so I don't know what might be giving you the error, it better just be no download plus or you need to try redownloading it.  Yayoi's new bathing suit is bright cherry red XDDD  Bright purple on Iori actually looks better on her than the other one O_o

edit: PSN network has a 100DL box where you can get the presents/discounts and stuff up, but everything else from this catalog isn't up yet lololol

Well it's heavily hinted that 961 Pro might get their own game eventually ( or it was planned but dropped ). So we may get our wish.

eg...why give them a spot in buying email addresses if they aren't ever going to need it? ;)
Plus including a 'Buy for all 12 Idols' button on that same screen...
2 of the more obvious ones :)

I know it was hinted at, but by the looks of it they're earning enough money off PS, WS, and MM that they probably no longer care to release a 961 pro game. So personally I'm under the assumption it was dropped if it was ever an idea in the first place, since it's better to not expect it and then be disappointed if it never comes.

Though you can be certain if they release a 961 pro game I will get it and prolly buy more of their song DLCs. xD

Hi guys!

The new song for IM@S SP "Over Master" has lauched on 27th January.
I just posted subbed video of that on youtube.

Chihaya solo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYmSfvLtezY

Takane, Hibiki, Miki Solo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkeIRHm__oM

I tried to translate the song as direct as possible.
I think it's not that bad.

Enjoy!

Everyone wins this month!

Though the dance is definitely not something for a duo/trio unit.
I can see everyone hitting each other while on stage if that was the case.

After watching that video, here are my thoughts:
Haruka - Thought it was meh.
Makoto - It was ok, not her best song. I think she could have done a lot better.
Yayoi - Alright, and gives the song her own touch.
Hibiki - Great, but that's obvious since the song was 961-sourced.
Yukiho - Pretty nice, but she does go quiet in some parts of the song.
Iori - Somehow, I get the feeling this is what Haruka's version should have been. An interesting change from Iori's style, and I rather like it.
Ami - I actually really like her version, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Takane - Excellent, but that's like saying George Bush was a terrible President; it's an obvious statement. ;)
Miki - Very good, and like Iori's version, her singing style is different than in most songs.
Chihaya - One of the best versions from the 765 crew.
Ritsuko - Didn't like her version very much. First impression was bad, and she sounded like she was forcing herself to be angry while singing.
Azusa - Definitely the best out of the 765 crew, and just as good as Takane's. Azusa's singing style actually worked well with this song.

So I think best versions are Azusa's and Takane's versions, and the worst ones were Haruka's and Ritsuko's versions.

Ryoma you need a Japanese PSN account with credit on it.  Making an account is easy, there are guides showing you how to make one online.  There are a bunch of different websites that sell Japanese PSN cards for use on the network.  Once you buy a code, you redeem it and your account gets credited that amount and you can spend it on clothes/songs/etc.

-Also anyone find any new catalog information, assuming there is one this month?

I can't imagine the catalogs stopping here o.o Especially since even just *info* on the iM@S2 console game is eons away. Having no "live" iM@S games at all? Will Bandai-Namco stand for the cease of constant cashflow into their wallets?? *shot*

Nonetheless, I would imagine they would mention that it was the last catalog, if it was.

It might just be that the last catalog placed the bar too high, but this catalog seems kind of, idunno, thinned down and not to mention cheap.
Only 2 accesories for the ToV costume and no puchi, not that I'm shocked about that last part though..
Also, it seems the song 'i' isn't compatible with lessons..

I never played Vesperia, so no hyping for me.

You know I wouldn't mind if the outfit was a different ToV costume on each character.  Or if the outfit was Tales of the Abyss themed, but it's the same outfit for everyone, and it looks horrible  >:(

That dress is just not worth 1000 yen in my book, maybe like 300.  I'm still waiting for a casual wear extend outfit or that Autumn collection.

I actually would've liked it if they picked a bunch of Tales of Heroines for each of them or something, now that would be interesting.

i didn't realize they had i as the song for this month's dlc -- too much screaming about Estelle's costume.

I didn't even realize it was out OTZ Such a letdown after the Overmaster catalogue, though that's pretty hard to beat.

In my opinion, Makoto has the best 'i', probably with Ami/Mami being second.

Takane's version of 'i' sounds absurdly cute <3

That aside, this month's drama is the worst one yet in my opinion.
It's not even remotely funny/interesting and the choices you make doesn't really affect the drama much either; basically there's no real branching and/or replayability in the story to keep one interested.

I'd say the best part of this new catalog is the Kotori Drama, for an unstated somewhat obvious reason. ;)
Not fussy on the TOA costume. I wonder how many more of these costumes we'll have to put up with in the future.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I hear there are now new song remixes that are really cheap... and I also hear that they're really bad. A price to pay for their cheapness?

Agreed. I've never played Tales of the Abyss, but I'd far rather be seeing original costumes rather than reprints from a different game.

Also, the remixes...I never really listened to The iDOLM@STER's, so I can't tell with that one, but the rest of them are copies of the Remix B's from L4U XD That's disappointing, I was hoping they'd be new. Ah, well, there's the fact that they're cheap, I suppose.

I personally don't like the new costumes that much. The costumes aren't bad but they seriously don't need to go copying costumes off another anime like Tales of the Abyss. I really wish they would come up with new remixes for the songs in the game like first stage and Aoi Tori.

The Kotori drama looks pretty interesting though I must say.

Anyways, meh, I kind of liked some of these remix versions, so I might get them or something, but eh dunno. Maybe I'll wait till next catalog, see if they do something, iunno, different? Not that I'm expecting it. =3=

At the very most, getting costumes from their other games is sorta like fanservice, since I'm sure there are like tons of Tales fans who fantasizes the idols dancing in said source's outfits. :| And no, not saving their skin, but it does take effort to bring them as DLC idol outfits, so yeah.

I guess what Namco could've done is do some alteration to the costume for other idols. Some of them do NOT match these costumes.

They could be using that effort for original stuff ;_;

...I feel that I might be kinda critique-y because...the Overmaster catalogue. WE KNOW THERE IS SUCH POTENTIAL! Why aren't they using it?? XD

I agree, if they were to keep doing the TOA costumes.
I would prefer some more original costume designs, though. I'm sure that I've mentioned this before, but I think the costumes used for the Master Artist covers (Ritsuko's gothic dress, Makoto's Michael Jackson-esque costume, etc) would be excellent to have as DLC.

Yeah you have a point Cien.  They do have designs sitting around like what you've mentioned, so it shouldn't be hard coming up with new content.  I'm surprised they never used the Autumn Collection outfits for anything since those were pretty well crafted and thought out.

i think outfits for fall collection are more for kodak moments than to be used to swing around dancing on stage.

That's like saying "Swimsuits are more for swimming than to be used to swing around dancing on stage". Sure they are, but they have swimsuits up for DLC. XD
Considering that it's a game, I don't think they'd really apply 'limits' like that.

though swimsuits and 10 layers of scarfs and sweaters are a different thing
but i do get your point, they DID put up a stupid astronaut and kindergarten outfit for DLC, its like using a gun to smack people instead of shooting it amirite? just for those slow people who like to toss a grenade without pulling the pin, the last statement is a metaphor including this one

Not sure about the head accessory (what IS it?) but this DLC, I like. School uniform and loose socks / leg warmers.

Still wishing for more original costumes (this costume was DLC for the original 360 iM@S, wasn't it?) and songs, but this will indeed do.

What Pizza said -- Kapibara-san!

Quote
Kapibara-san is a character created by Banpresto. At the beginning you could only get a Kapibara-san from toy crane vending machines. But people wanted it so much that they started selling it everywhere, different sizes, different colors, T-shirts, books and all kinds of merchandising. It is interesting how they managed to create a phenomenon just from a boring and simple animal (A capybara). The point is that it is really “kawai” (cute), and Japanese love “kawai” stuff. I like it!

I want one It's really cute, haha; then again I'm all for cute things.

I don't mind the school uniform -- the leg warmers don't looks so good though X:

Songs are meh -- I was never a big fan of the remixes.

darn no drama ]:

I rather like some of the remixes, but man, Makoto sounded terrible singing the remixed 9:02pm in that preview...
Anywho, the new costume is rather plain, but at least it isn't another Tales outfit. I rather wish there was a new song in this catalog, though.

I might get the school uniform, I don't remember what my PSN balance is at the moment and college wi-fi doesn't like the PSN store. At least I go home in two weeks. xD

I don't really like these remixes though. I liked last catalog's ones better.

I myself would love to see some of the Kagamine sagas, especially Synchronicity, but I don't think Synchronicity is in Project Diva 2nd (how dare they, saturating the game with all the generic Hatsune Miku songs and not giving those gorgeous Kagamine songs a chance, or even giving Kaito or Meiko any songs at all), so there goes that idea.

This being slightly really off topic; I know they're giving the Kagamine twins and Luka (at least) some songs, it IS Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd. It's, in technicality, Miku's game, not the other Vocaloids', just as the first one was.
edit: Also, for this game, MEIKO and KAITO have confirmed songs for it. MEIKO, at least, has "Change Me" (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1279274432), and KAITO, at least, has "Canterella" (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1279274219).

iM@S doesn't get anything out of the collaboration, right? (Except advertising, I suppose XD) When I think about it...with the iM@S stuff in Project Diva 2nd...I don't think there's any chance of it getting localized, though there seems to be quite a bit of English-speaking Vocaloid fans.

The hat looks weird on Makoto o_0 But I must say, awesome costume (I love costumes that change color depending on what idol is wearing it XD) That and L.O.B.M. = must get PSN points.
(at least, from hearing it solo, it sounds good. Can't see the dance because for some reason, watching from Dengeki means that the video freezes about 5 seconds in and the audio keeps playing...)

This is the last catalog, isn't it? Way to go out with a bang, NBGI. XD

Damnit Dengeki, why does your video feed hate me or something (stop lagging!). I'm sure NBGI will have the PV up in a few days.

Anyways, interesting how the PV is set up this time around, alternating between two idols each song -- my mistake, 3 no 4... Stop it Omoide wo Arigatou, that's already 5 people. ... 6.

7.

I give up.

Anyways, you guys get the point.

L.O.B.M sounds pretty good -- even though Chihaya is the only one who sang it in the PV IIRC.

The costume is actually kinda cute, although I'm not a big fan of the skirt.  Overall though, it reminds me of a flight attendant outfit more than anything...  But Chihaya looks really cute in the picture, I feel like I've been deceived ._.

I DUNNO this catalog looks alright.  Trying to judge it is like trying to give an opinion on your girlfriend's outfit for the last date you two are going to have before she moves away.  You're just sitting there thinking it could be better, and that relationship could have gone farther with other outfits.  Or never getting that one thing you wanted from her because she refused to give it up (aka casual outfits or colorful days rmx which IMO I would have liked but I guess I didn't buy her enough flowers where she would have wanted to give dat up, sheesh).  Then you won't see her for months, and when she returns she'll be a different person and back with her old x-box-friend.  And you sit there just playing with your memories.

IDK seems like if this is the last catalog, they could have put much more into it...especially with the bad taste left in the mouth from the previous ones.

Yup, this is the last catalog. The pic right under the catalog prices (http://news.dengeki.com/elem/000/000/282/282842/img.html) says that.

I think they know that everyone's looking forward to the next game, and are saving their money for that.

... Although, does the fine print really say what I think it does?
In the image: 本カタログの有効期限は、2011年3月31日までとなります。
In a caption: 恒例の無料背景画像も、最終回ということで2枚同時配信される。なお律子の“ランカ・リー衣装”版は、来年3月31日までの限定配信だ。

With this, I want to say the Ranka collaboration ends next year on 31 March, and related items won't be offered past that, but someone confirm with me because I don't want panic to set in on a mistaken translation/speculation. I think they just put the blanket statement that the entire catalog only lasts that long so that they can remove what they need from it, and keep the rest, but that might be wishful thinking.

First off...Best. Comparison. Ever. XD

Anyhow, I suppose you're right; they could've done a lot more than they did, though I'm very glad they gave us an original costume and song this time around. The "bad taste" from the previous catalogs just made me extraordinarily thankful for the content of this one XDD

I just hope that the DLC contents of iM@S2 stay original...

I think they might have reused the Master Special track. Sounds similar.

I've been watching L.O.B.M for a while. Have to admit, the dance does not impress me at all. :-[
For all the dance in iM@S, I do enjoy watching all of them, but the L.O.B.M looks quite silly.
I mean the dance looks too simple and some parts do not match the song. :P
Guess it surely not coming back again (in iM@S 2), but I still enjoy the song itself a lot ;).

The dance is really energetic, though does look a bit silly XD Whether it is coming back or not, it's hard to tell (they're so unpredictable) but if it did, it could be like Colorful Days; where the dance looks odd on its own, but that's the only way to view it on the PSP.

Though, L.O.B.M. x 5? I don't see how the idols wouldn't run into each other XD

Umm, you're right. The poor physics engine of PSP already make me confuse of the dance in many songs.
Guess I gonna need the motion capture to judge the dance. :-\

I think they motion-capture them all, but the graphic (and 1-idol) limit is there...seeing it in console graphics and with more than one idol lets out a song's full potential.

Considering Kimi ha Melody, Mata Ne, Overmaster, and L.O.B.M. have all been limited to solo idol performances this far, I'm hoping they'll make it to iM@S2.

Yeah, that's true, too XD Like I said earlier, I especially can't see L.O.B.M. with 5 people. It'd have to be kinda complex to get that to work.

But, if they can get it to work, and get it to work well, I'd love to see it.

I'd rather have Vocaloid songs in im@s than Im@s songs in Vocaloid, because it's very easy to make im@s songs in the Vocaloid software, but it's impossible to go to the idols' voice actresses and say "HEY SING ANCIENT RING!"

No, the Blue Cross Pure outfit and the Hugging Cat are free for anyone in celebration of the Playstation Store release of the games. They aren't on the 765 Shop Cataloge within the game, you have to go onto the Platstation Store to get them.

TweenDoriru :
This isn't the first free DLC. When the PSP the Best versions of the games were released in January, Another Gravure Swimsuit and Cheerful Innertube were available for free in celebration; they still are. There is also the stage backgrounds and one of the Idol Drama that is free.

animagic4u:
You have to have a Japanese Playstation Store account. You'll have to look up a guide for that online somewhere.  Also, I think there is something about the PSP can only have one account connected to the PSN at a time, so if you already has a non-Japanese account with DLC, you may have some trouble.

Just the Catalog 17 clothes; the Ranka Lee extend outfit and accessories.  Hence scraping up 1600 yen for them while they're still there.  The other catalogs are remaining and should remain, there aren't any limited time notices on the other catalogs like how it appears on those items.  Although it would be nice if they ported some of the new IM@S 2 outfits as a better sendoff than that last catalog >___>  I mean they did the same with L4U, said it was the last catalog then started porting in SP stuff.  But sadly just a dream...

You can still buy the items if you have a Japanese PS3 account, and you can even download them onto your PS3. You obviously can't use them, though, unless you have Im@s SP, a PSP, and a USB to Mini-USB cable to hook up your PSP to your PS3.

I have Perfect Sun and Wandering Star and I've set myself up on  Japanese PSN, I just don't have a credit card to purchase the items. My only choice, I guess, is to buy a JP PSN card on Play-Asia. ^^;

And a copyright reason...that makes sense. At first I was worried they were taking off everything, but that kind of didn't make sense to me since people still play SP. Unless they plan on making an SP2 for the PSP or possibly for the NGP (but that's a whole new subject.) XD

Hello,I´m new here and have some trouble whith DLC.

I dont know if someone posted this before (I didnt search in all 30 pages of this topic).

Well,I downloaded some DLC from ps3 psn and cant find in the game.

I downloaded the plus file too for the 4th catalog and the others.

Where I can download the catalog files?I didnt found in the catalog menu in the game (I have the Live 4 You and to my knowledge we need to download the catalog files to make the DLC work or something like that,am I right?).

My psp is 3000 and fw 6.35.I have to upgrade to the last fw 6.37 to make the DLC work?

My guess is that even though the files are there, they haven't been activated for use with the PSP?

Try going to account management, sign in with the account you downloaded the files from, and select the last option which is a cube thing.  Select ゲーム and I think it should validate any purchases you have on your PSP for game files associated with that account.  Hopefully the files are in the Memory Stick area and not the Saved Data Utility area.  If that doesn't work, the 765 pro shop in the game has two options, update the catalog or view the catalog.  You can try updating it and see if that causes them to show up.

I'm going to apologize for the assumption, but I noticed you said you downloaded the files using your PS3 (or rather, you used PS3 PSN, which would make me believe you downloaded them with your PS3), and without saying you've transferred the files, you said you can't find them on your PSP. If this assumption is wrong, disregard the rest of this.

If you downloaded it to your PS3, you'll need a USB -> Mini B USB cable to hook your PS3 up to your PSP.

First thing to do is hook up your PSP to your PS3 and put the PSP in USB mode. You'll need that cable, just plug whatever fits into the slots that fit. USB mode should be somewhere in Settings or something, one of the leftmost folders where you set your preferences and all that. Look around until you find it. Move to your PS3.

I think the DLC should be downloaded into your Games folder, in the PS3's XMB (don't quote me on that, but look around and you should find it). Hit whatever button it was to bring up the menu, and select Copy. That should be it.

Of course, this is all assuming aforementioned DLC was downloaded onto your PS3 in the first place. Check your download list.

Oh yes, forgot to mention the files are in the memory stick.

And other thing I dont have acess to a wi fi connection or spot, that is why I downloaded from ps3.

Catalog files can only downloaded from the psp or can be from ps3 too?

I think I fu#@$%$ all the things and cant use the DLC.

Even if they're there, I don't think you can use them unless the PSP itself validates the purchases.  Which I'm not sure if it does when you connect your PSP to your PS3.  It's not like transferring a picture or demo, these files need to be authorized for use, otherwise anyone could just connect their PSP to your PS3 and download what you have.  I've never transferred files from a PS3 to PSP before, but just from using DRM restricted files, I'd assume it's the same process.  Like with iTunes, if you downloaded a DRM restricted song, you can transfer it to another computer, but to play it on that computer you have to authorize it.  Same with these files, you most likely have to authorize your PSP to use them, which requires a wireless internet connection to sign in.  Unless you can do that while connected to your PS3.  Have you thought about using Media Go on your computer?  You could try transferring the files that way and see if that helps.

Even if you tried to update the catalog, that's done in game, you can't download that off the PSN store.  So I think you really need a wifi connection for any of these methods, I don't see a way around it.  I have no idea where you are located, but if you go around town searching for networks, you can probably find an open one to connect to.  Starbucks and McDonalds are perhaps two places you can leach from since almost all their stores offer free wifi, and there are generally a bunch of those the world over.

If you download things on your PS3, they'll pop up on your PSP... I'm guessing as long as you have the same PSN account on the machine. I did this with the free Break! DLC. I'm in the same boat right now, so I download off my PS3 and copy things to my PSP.

I didn't find the files anywhere on my Memory Stick (as in, not in the XMB), but they popped up in game just fine, if I'm remembering right. The DLC install was part of the copy process.

I realize this thread is pretty old at this point but as an IM@S newcomer I was surprised to find that the DLC that has been ripped onto the internet for these games is very incomplete.  Considering the downloads have long since been removed from the PSN I was wondering if anyone would have any interest in trying to enrich the DLC still available online so this content does not get lost to time.
