This seems like it's going to be a fun time.
As a rebuttal, I have been craving Instant Ramen for the longest time, but my mom won't let me get any because it's so unhealthy. This is why I hate being the child of a health nut mom sometimes.
I remember when I used to eat ramen all the time with hot dogs on the side. Then I stopped when the hot dogs we bought were starting to get worse in quality. Maybe I can get back into ramen after I start to have enough of making Mac and Cheese when I feel like making my own dinner.
Oh man, that sounds so good.
I actually kinda can't wait to go to college just because I can eat all the instant ramen I want.
I literally once almost went to a snow camp away from home JUST BECAUSE I KNEW THEIR SNACK SHOP SOLD INSTANT RAMEN AND I WAS CRAVING SOME SO BADLY.
I think the debate room at my school sells instant ramen. Like, there's a snack bar there and everybody and their mother goes there when hungry.
This is only making my craving worse.
You can also make or use your own broth, or serve it dry. It tastes much better that way.
I don't use the packets often, especially not the oil ones. You can do better with a bit of vegetable oil and minced garlic. The spice packets, I use red pepper or some chili paste instead.
I think one of the reasons why instant ramen gets a bad rap is because the nutrition facts assume that you're going to drink the broth once you're finished with the noodles. If you don't drink the broth at the end, it's not so bad.
It's been a while since I've had ramen.
But since i'll be going to Japan next week, the first time in hanami season, i definitely plan to eat ramen.
Don't know if you're into maid cafes, but there'll be an Im@s Cinderella Girls cafe there. You might be able to pick up some swag too.
http://www.curemaid.jp/?page_id=7986
There's also the Im@s official shops. There's one in Nakano Broadway, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka.
http://imasnews765.com/?p=12607
EDIT: Oh hey, looks like Characro's doing a Happy Birthday thing for Haruka too. I don't think that's a maid cafe, just a regular themed cafe like Good Smile. You might need reservations, though.
http://www.namco.co.jp/characro/idolmaster/news/008644.html
... Come to think of it, where'll you be? If you can take pictures of hanami, please share!
Moreover to foodstuffs, what are your favourite brands of potato chips? Pringles are definitely king in my eyes. There's just something about resting one on your tongue to crunch on that makes it ever so appetizing, whether or not you're actually hungry.
Yep, definitely Pringles, especially the sour cream flavor.I like pizza flavor.
Instant ramen's a nice commodity whilst you're on lunch break, but I personally think the broth's the best part -- as a dessert of sorts -- because you can wash the ramen down nicely afterwards. As far as brands go, steer very clear of Kimchi ramen if you're intending to microwave it; I learned that the hard way when my bowl suddenly erupted in flames. Holy hell at that initial shine.

Then there's the duckface thing you could get going for shits and giggles. :P
I recently bought this double ocarina: http://www.steinocarina.com/productsDetail.php?id=299
And to add to this convoluted set of thoughts, i recently found out that there is a second official book with im@s sheet music apart from the ages old M@sterbook. The new one from last year has many of the "newer" songs like Ready, Change, Yakusoku or arcadia, but unfortunately for me they are piano arrangements.
On a totally unrelated note (but that's why this thread exists, isn't it?) do you guys think forums count as social media?I think it depends on what you mean by social media. To some interacting with others in any way would count as being social. There's also forums keeping accounts and posting history, although you could argue that's for convenience for reading a conversation. I've seen some try to argue that anonymous image boards are also social media because you're discussing with others so who knows.
My sister was talking to me yesterday and I mentioned that I'm not on any social media sites (no Facebook, no Tumblr, no Twitter, no Instagram...). I added that all I'm on are a few forums, and then I have my email and Skype. She argued that forums ARE social media.
I say nay. Forums are created specifically as a way for fans of the same franchise/series/genre to get together and express their love for said franchise/series/genre, pick up on important news (like where concerts will be held and merchandise and such), and share fanfictioins or fan projects or role play or whatever. Each one is different, but I don't think they constitute social media since you aren't going there to make friends/keep in touch with friends. You're there to share thoughts on a thing with other like-minded people. And if you make some friends along the way, as I have and I'm sure many of you have, that's an added bonus.
What do you guys think?
That is awesome.
And now I need to buy this because iM@S has so many great songs I want to play on the piano.

I've seen some try to argue that anonymous image boards are also social media because you're discussing with others so who knows.
To me personally I consider social media to be sites where talking to people about conversations and making friends is the main focus, people are above everything. While with forums and image boards the discussion is held highest, be it a goofy or serious one. It's possible to make friends on it due to having similar interests, but that's not the main purpose of the site. I think there's some issues with social media: obsession with getting notifications or checking feeds, feeds causing you to feel worse about yourself because people mostly post positive things about their lives or are trying to impress everyone by filtering it, becoming more self centered as you do the same in return, etc. I find it to be a pretty negative environment and I'm not very interested in that so I tend to contact others through chat programs instead.
I prefer posting about series like iM@S on fan sites and forums. I also don't use sites like facebook or instagram. I got a twitter more recently to retweet Chihaya tweets as there's been more and more artists posting twitter exclusive content (like Chi-tan, such a cute artist, as expected of a Kirby fan https://twitter.com/nakayosisabure ).

Awesome, thanks! Next step is to get money.
You might get it cheaper elsewhere, it's probably easiest to search for the ISBN:

search with and without the dashes
[...]; kettle chips get a pass because they're crunchy enough for my liking (I like crunchy) and have a different flavor about them the other varieties don't provide.
Scrambled eggs are pretty tasty. Have you ever tried putting cream cheese in them? My mom does that, and it gives them a kinda cheesy taste. Just be careful not to put so much that her eggs are all covered in cream cheese, because that tastes yucky.
Oh, BOO.
That's depressing.
:-X I don't have the singing ability or the bravery to record covers, but it would definitely be fascinating to hear others do so!
Eggs are good.
On the another subject, my head has been hurting badly during the day this summer. The heat is killing me.
Very true.
You're in summer? Can I live with you? This freezing spring weather really doesn't do it for me.
Oh my god, eggs and bean sprouts everyday. At least today's the last of the bean sprouts. They're about to go bad.
Better hypothermia than heat stroke. And we're a third world country, please don't go.
I prefer warmth, but I get you.
What country are you in?
Philippines.
Send me your bean sprouts. I don't even know why, but I'm obsessed with them.
What cities have the highest concentration of English speakers, do you think? I really want to go one day, but my Japnese is limited; I know essential phrases and a lot of useless words I'll probably never actually use like "crazy". Have you found you need to have strong Japanese knowledge to vacation there, or do people speak enough English for us native English-speakers to actually get stuff done?
On a totally unrelated-but-related-to-the-aforementioned-karaoke topic, what do you guys think about A Capella covers? Now I don't mean whole A Capella GROUPS that sing arrangements, I mean one person and a mike with no music.
Do you tend to find these better when it's a faster paced song, or a slower song? When there are music breaks, do you guys prefer people to leave a silence, or add their own little riffs?
Personally, I tend to like slower songs. Faster songs tend to have less blank space, but I like raw slow songs with nothing added, usually, just because it sounds so pretty.
(guys I am in such a singy mood I'm sorry)
They've all been cooked now, which is good since they would have started rotting today. Now I've got a fridge with... fried potatoes, slightly burnt hushpuppies that are soggy from being left in the fridge too long, okonomiyaki, and some mixture of egg, bean sprout, leafy vegetable, and ground pork.
Tokyo. I don't even hafta think about that one.
You should be able to find someone who speaks enough English to ask for directions and stuff, but you both might struggle picking words. I wanna say the metro and JR guys should have someone around that can show you what stops to take, since Tokyo has a bunch of tourists and they should be used to it. Some stations even have a tourist booth with multilingual people that you can go to. If nothing else, find another tourist, and ask them if they speak English. Tokyo has lots.
Outside Tokyo... I dunno. I'd say the best spots to put money on a bet would be... major railway stations, the hotels next to them, really famous attractions, and the hotels next to those. The English might be broken, but little bit a creativity and you should be able to get by. Shrine priests probably won't speak a wit of the language. Maybe get a phrasebook and bring it around with you. It might be easier to point at the phrase you want to say, then fill in the blanks by just telling them.
Many tourist attractions will have pamphlets in both English and Japanese, even obscure ones. The Japanese ones are sometimes (often times?) more detailed than the English ones, though.
If you're really good at gettin' around though, you won't need to use much Japanese to get to some places on the map. A lot signs have both Japanese and English on them, and the power of the internet (and some paper and pencil) can fill in the rest. Just a note when map making - be sure to write down intersection names, since streets don't always have names.
Restaurant menus are a different story, though - you might have to tap into the native human language of points and grunts if they don't have an English menu. Don't expect one.
A Capella's in addition would be welcome -- I feel it's better to have freedom of choice to move karaoke's by. That being said, I'm more partial to the slower, quiet pace since it eases people along and in the case of actual singers, sound that much more pleasant. Speaking of the aforementioned topic, I'm thinking of posting something similar, if not the same.
It's funny that I woke up earlier today.
Finally installed Yosemite on my Mac. I decided to do a clean install instead of installing over my Mavericks partition. Since I'm starting from scratch that means there are so many settings to adjust, commands to run and apps to install! Good thing I kept a bootable copy of my old system or else I wouldn't be able to get much done.
It's a version of Apple's Mac operating system and it is indeed named after Yosemite National Park. :) It has some security updates that the previous major version (Mavericks, named after another California location) will probably never get. I'm only familiar with one of those security updates (a fix for a vulnerability called Rootpipe) but I figured now's as good a time as any to make the switch.
Ah, alright! So it's like a system update, then? Those are always good. Unless they pile on new changes that weren't necessarily for the best :P
Anybody else here use Twitter? I got one about a month ago and since I'm probably gonna be tweeting more often, I thought it might be nice to share some handles here. You can find me here @MetalPredat0r (https://twitter.com/MetalPredat0r) or on my profile as my website. Anybody from here, please post your handles so I can follow you guys too. Sorry if I feel like I'm plugging, I don't know where else to post this other than the thread about tangents. :P
This is kinda interesting: https://paiza.jp/poh/enshura?locale=en
It's one of those programming challenges where you from excercise to an excercise, except it's Japanese and has a - rather bullshit - story delivered in manga pages form. It even (kinda spoiler)has choices - at least one. It supports Java, PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python, C, C#and C++ (via built in editor) plus has "beta" support for more: Objective-C, Haskell, Bash, D etc., etc.
And yes, it's in English as well.
That awkward moment when you pour yourself a cereal bowl and you realize you're out of milk. Derp.
Does anyone else pronounce "milk" more like "melk"? I think it might be the slight Jersey accent I never quite dropped, but my sister gets so mad at me for it.
Aaaaaand my Fight Stick is so much better. I went full Seimitsu and an octogon gate 'cause I've never tried one out. If I wanna see what Sanwa parts feel like, I'll just go to my friend's house.
The buttons the stock SE come with are so brittle. I lost three of them (on top of the one that broke first) just messing around with wires. Then again, maybe they were all gonna break soon.
That does look very interesting. I have ZERO coding knowledge, though, but still interesting.
Being out of milk is the worst feeling in the world.
Might go through some quick course on something like Codeacademy and do the challenges as additional exercises. Because hashtagYOLO :-P

Also, do tacos have sauce or not? Because we didn't have sauce.
But it still tasted good.

Probably old, but gold anyway.
I kinda wanna make an "Unpopular Opinions" thread. I feel like it'd be asking for a fight, but if I make it clear opinions are not to be argued 'til the cows come home, I feel like it'd be nice to just express unpopular opinions all in one thread. Just get stuff off our chests.
The problem with the "Unpopular Opinions" thread tends to go these ways:
1. Flame wars, arguments, those fun stuff
2. Opinions aren't really that "unpopular"
3. Can get touchy on certain subjects
4. IMO, not very interesting nor its healthy for my mood (or anyone's really)
I used to read that kind of topic on Serebii and it didn't end that well. It's so 'bad' that the thread was locked. There's the manga version of that, but I don't care for the manga series anyways.
I have an unhealthy habit of reading Youtube comments and even worse, imo... Yahoo News comments.
I keep telling myself, "Grace, YouTube comments are bad for your mental health and they degrade your faith in humanity, stay away."Then again, reading any negative stuff on any social media are bad for anyone's mental health unless you found them funny. Come to think about it, I should exercise some more to steam off my negativity because my mood is getting worse and it's making me tired.
Then I read at least a hundred of them anyways.

A very true sentiment.
My favorite way to exercise is through Just Dance. If you actually play it RIGHT, you really start to sweat.
I like to ride my bike all over town since I prefer cardio over anything else. Sadly, since I'm in High School, I can only do this on weekends. Once College rolls around, I'lll hopefully be able to do it more often.
My sister loves biking. I prefer a scooter, personally. Even if the one I own is way too small for me.
Although I'm gonna need to inevitably take that driving test for my license since I am at that age now. Just need to practice.
I'm way past that age, but I haven't gotten my license yet, I am practicing at the moment so that I can get it!
Gosh, that moment when you know you're going to see Age of Ultron with your buddies. Those genuine nerd chills.
Looking back to the first Avengers, here's hoping there's a scene which rivals the Hulk-Loki fight in profound humor.
Working out?
Cardio is my cup of tea. Walking, running, hiking, I can do that for hours.
I get little pleasure in dealing with heavy things or staying in one spot too long doing strength training.
Crossfit looks too dangerous, especially if you are doing it alone and I normally work out alone.
Have any of you felt like that before? You just look back and realize, "Wow, I'm suddenly kind of mature."There is a forum I joined on 2006, it is still alive but I left it with a group of friends I made there. We made a mass migration to a Skype group cause it accommodated us better.
OFF-TOPIC EDIT:
Looking back at my welcome thread and all the things I've done here before, including writing, art, all that...I feel like everything about me has matured SO MUCH. This forum itself kinda chronicles me growing up, I don't know. It feels weird.

It's fun and a little embarrassing and always nostalgic going back to the archives. So many bad opinions, much optimism, unwarranted anger and typos everywhere.
One amusing thing was me being really passive aggressive to a forum member I disliked. That forum member is now a great friend of mine that I've met in real life.
Me everytime I either go back through the older posts of my fan art thread or, going further back, my old DeviantArt. I was in Middle School back then and I can't help but look at those posts and think to myself....... "Dude, shut up. Nobody freaking cares". X)!
Looking back at old drawings, especially ones you used to be proud of, is traumatic.
Why not try redrawing them now? The results might be interesting.
An e-friend from another forum actually decided to burn his old works today. Says he doesn't actually feel bad about it and the whole thing feels to him kinda... poetic.
Feeling spirited today, as it is Mothers Day. There's not much I can say other than while I've many slumps in life, I grew onwards and I'm grateful for my mom bringing me to this earth, setting my behavior straight and then some. Kind of gives you goosebumps to reflect on so much, but we'll be opting to visit my sister's grave pretty soon. Peaceful vibes all-around.
I received the Takashi alto C and double alto C ocarinas i ordered 6 weeks ago. They sound so beautiful and clear, on the low as well as the high notes. They require quite a lot of breath, which i prefer, and the double ocarina is much better balanced and has a better hole placement than my focalink ensemble double.
It's love at first sight, or rather first... hearing.
Apparently, any time I choose to main a female character in a fighting game, the writers make sure that she goes through the worst stuff in the game. I'm like three for three, and was very close to four for four, out of almost all the fighting games that I've cared to play in the last few years. Ugh...

That sounds sucky. I've had pretty good luck in the stories of fighting games. Then again, the only ones I've ever played that actually have story are Dead or Alive: Dimensions and King of Fighters...XI, right?

In a recent game?
Who are these characters in particular?
That sounds awesome. Are you thinking of recording any covers with them? I'd love to hear some.
Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 4 - Rose, who dies a lot in her endings.
Blazblue - Tsubaki was my instant main the moment I saw Continuum Shift. And she goes psycho.
Xrd Sign - Elphelt. No one really knows what happens to her, but yeah. Worst luck in the game.
Persona 4 - My almost four for four, I almost picked Labrys, who eventually gets a good ending. I mained Yuu in P4U.
The US dollar to Japanese yen exchange rate seems really good right now (good for Americans, at least). It's been about the same since December... but it didn't occur to me until now that maybe I should import some stuff. ::)
Rose doesn't really die, though. Her endings don't go well, but she usually ends up fine. Her endings in SFIV were sour, but watching them with Guy's ending makes it better.
Play Girlfriend Beta makes me feel like I'm wasting my time on something I don't need to do, but I love it.
I probably will, but i don't really feel confident, although i have been practicing Aoi Tori for quite a while now. But if i really want to make a serious recording, i'd want to do it with a backing track, which makes things much harder (your tempo really needs to be correct, which isn't all that important if you are just playing for yourself). Years ago, before i made a break with playing ocarina because learning japanese (kanji in particular) took a huge junk of my free time, i also practiced relations, i don't think it should be all that hard to get into that one again. I also want to practice yakusoku.
On that note: does anyone have an off vocals version of Aoi Tori, relations or Yakusoku?
In the meantime you can take a look at this piano/ocarina duet cover of yakusoku: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvwTgWcaVNg
As for my own recordings that have nothing to do with im@s, i have 2 i can offer, but i made them more to fiddle around a bit with reverb and i made a mistakes in both of them and they don't have backing tracks:
Cosmo Canyon (http://www.xanis.ch/ocarina/recordings/CosmoCanyon.wav) from FFVII, played on a Noble Alto F
Fields of Athenry (http://www.xanis.ch/ocarina/recordings/Fields_of_Athenry.wav) an Irish ballad, played on a Rotter ZFan Alto C.
It is XI, from what you've told me. I played DOA:D's story and found it laughable, tbh. Only fighting games I've played that nailed story were Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice.
Honestly, I had no idea what was going on in DOA:D either. It was my very first 3DS fighting game, and I was excited by the prospect of 3D, but the whole thing was kind of "what?" throughout.
I wish Tekken 3D had a story mode. It has a movie, but that's not the same at all.
Play Girlfriend Beta makes me feel like I'm wasting my time on something I don't need to do, but I love it.
DOA:D is still a great game. To me, its the second-best fighting game on the 3DS. It used to be the overall best until Smash Bros. came out. However, the story is just too cheesy for its own good and fights literally happen for no reason but to have a fight.
Kokomin is my waifu.
I have to go with whoever Sakura is voicing every time. Her fake accent is the best thing. (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm24805457)
I'll admit, people with learning disabilities are the most colorful individuals I've ever met. Our brain is a complicated thing. It's interesting how defects in the brain can either hinder or help a person. Most of the time, it screws them over, but it can allow them to do amazing things as well. They might act strange to some people, but they're just people who just need help even though some of them are pretty rude. Seeing some of them grow and becoming successful in life warms my heart. I'll thank my family and the people at my old private school for helping me along the way. I'm obviously not perfect, but that's life.
What annoys me is that we, "normal" people take advantage of them and treat them terribly. I've heard many horror stories of people hurting the disabled with some of them getting away and continue on hurting more victims. Some of them even had the guts to make a joke out of them and I found that a shame.
Anyways, that's how I'm feeling now. Have a good day.
June is my birth month. And still I don't have a job.I understand how hard it is to get a job, especially without any work experience. I applied to like 50+ jobs with several rejection notices. Eventually, I got an interview last month and last week, I got a tentative job offer (because a background check is required), meaning I have to move to Pennsylvania. But as always, one has to keep applying and probably focus one mind on something else such as a hobby or learning a new skill in the meantime. Eventually, it will come.
How peculiar.
[...]
But yes, I plan to use some of my first paycheck on getting one of those Cinderella G4U packs since they look tempting, although I can't really spend too much since I have student loans to pay off and also living expenses. But yes, I got pretty lucky.
Once you get around to that exhilaration of being able to buy things you want upon first paycheck, you'll never want to stop. Here's to your fortune in the near future, Ivan.
While the price points of G4U -- as through the iM@S channel -- aren't nearly as bad nowadays, it helps to get acquainted with the volumes (http://www.project-imas.com/wiki/THE_iDOLM@STER:_Gravure_For_You!). Given Namco's awful penchant of sneaking in discounts and even at most the iM@S channel as a whole, I've a gut feeling one is better off waiting until then.
To emphasize, 765Pro's G4U Volume 1 was deemed nigh impossible to get cheap, so imagine my surprise?

I don't eat meat though...
But why don't you eat meat meat is glorious
On another note, I like recording myself reading old, really bad fanfictions of mine in the voices of characters. The first batch I did is probably one of the greatest things I've ever done with my life, and the next batch will probably be even better. I'm considering making a thread here for them to show people what crazy chizz I do with my spare time.
I'd say that notion overthinks the daily matter of causality... but overall consensus would have us agree to disagree.
Anyway, don't you hate those dreams when you're being chased by something, though you'll barely budge a muscle?
Sucks pretty hard to look back and see this shit (http://twitchfilm.com/assets_c/2013/04/jurassic-park-thumb-630xauto-37698.jpg) of all things -- even as I realized the dream this told me I'm fucked. :P
My own reason for not eating meat is that I can't stand the thought of animals being mistreated and killed.
So they're like fanfiction audiobooks? :) What universes do they take place in and what characters are in them?

No clue dood. Trying to figure this thing out, but I just got Yayoi 3 times in a row clicking random ones...
Edit: After about 50 tries(trying to get Hibiki at least once), I never got her, Takane, Azusa, Ritsuko, or the twins at all...Most common was Yayoi.

Yes, indeed. He got Yayoi's quirks down to a T.
But that imitation by Takeuchi-P is also funny. And Matsuzaki Rei's face when he does it.
We don't care about Ramen packets being full of chems back here. Besides, we tend to put MSG on everything we cook.
So yeah, we enjoy our instant noodles without worries. Because we never cared.
This is so true. The fact that they sell MSG flavoring packets in every food vendor across the country certainly doesn't help. That and the way they advertise these things.

@OniZetto
I just realized that you surpassed my number of posts even though I joined 3 years ago.
Maybe, I should talk more?
There was a topic on a big forum about who's the most and least toxic fanbase. I didn't pay much attention until they started discussing some of the nicest fanbases.
One of the most polite fanbases mentioned were the Kirby fans, and I was like cool since I'm a Kirby fan. Though, I don't think I'm quite living up to my name, so I guess I need to try harder.
Kirby fans are usually pretty awesome from what I've seen. They LOVE to speculate about the events of each and every game and I enjoy how observant people can get.
I would talk about a toxic fanbase, but I don't want to bring on a huge argument. Plus, anybody that knows me well can tell EXACTLY what I'm talking about. :/

But yeah, from what I know of Kirby fans, they're awesome.
As far as toxic fan bases, all I'll say is this: you can find toxic members in ANY fan base. Some have a higher concentration of them than others, but you'll find some in everything.

EDIT: I hope I didn't open a can of worms. Fanbase is a touchy subject. So, I'll avoid discussing any further. Just wanted to show how cool Kirby is.
If we're going extremes with toxicity, the brunt I've seen is definitely MOBA communities.

For what time I've dabbled in MOBAs, I was a full-time spectator of the original DotA from WarCraft 3. There's just so many intricacies with team play and character builds that it kept me hooked. In the now, HotS happens to be among my favourite games -- the streamlined game play and Blizzard universe is what sold me, especially.
Indeed, those Russians man (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4m5HSjp7tk). Be wary of foul language... Russian-themed foul language. :P
I personally share the West’s attitude and believe idols/singers should be able to fall in love since their work is a career.
Idolm@ster is one of the few things that I believe actually doesn’t really follow this formula 100%. There was one manga (Idolm@ster mana) where a few idols were discussing about why they can’t love. But, for the most part Idolm@ster (including CG and ML) avoids this especially since the main protagonist (the producer) represents you. Of course, most of the time the idols are just teasing or having a crush. But, other times some idols fall in love. One example can be seen in Chihaya’s story in Idolm@ster 2 and One For All. I’m sure there are other examples of CG and ML characters who are seriously in love with the producer. And, it’s why I like Idolm@ster more compared to the other idol franchises where the concept of falling in love is strictly forbidden.

Honestly, Japanese idols and celebrities aren't really that different from our western counterpart by the way they're treated. The West is probably more open-minded about it, but that doesn't stop tabloids from happening.
Also, Korea (and some extensions, China) suffers from the same problem Japan has on their idols. And to be frank, the concept of idols in the East is hilariously silly and makes me wonder why people there would accept such a stupid concept in the first place. While I don't find it important enough to really hate it, it's enough to make my eyes roll.

iM@S DOES refer to the concept in a few songs besides (We Have a Dream and Zenryoku Idol both say hi, and in Zenryoku that's the primary focus)
fans actually finding out the idol is in love? That tends to be the larger issue I'm seeing here
After all, the forbidden thing is much more appealing.
^ Do you prefer school or work? (Anyone can answer)The plus side with work is that you don't have to study for exams or do homework while you get paid. Considering that I like computers, I guess I will mostly enjoy my job although I do need to brush up more on databases, but I will get training for that.
Tonight comes my final job interview. I hope I pass. Wish me luck.
These past two weeks have been busy, toasty (leftover high pressure from monsoons in Baja California are making it pretty muggy up here), and unlucky. Busy with four job interviews, unlucky because three of them were failures. And I've been struggling to find a new job that fits my abilities perfectly. Been the same old story ever since I got laid off from my last position back in May 2013. My interview skills have gotten much better, but even with the help of the Department of Rehab, my luck just falls short...always losing to people with more experience.
A week from now I'm heading to PMX...too bad it happens to be on the same weekend as Saboten-con, which I've really been wanting to go to for a while now. Still, I've managed to book my first official con performance since I started posting my keyboard covers! I've put together a lineup celebrating the 10th anniversary of iDOLM@STER and the 5th anniversary of Love Live. Been practicing quite a bit recently, but now that the rest of next week is free I'm clear to practice more diligently. I'll have the performance recorded and posted into my "keyboard cover me" thread once I get the chance. Wish me luck!
Aside from that, after I work on a fanfiction, I'm thinking of designing a sprite battle PowerPoint animation designed like a Shining Force/Fire Emblem-style strategy RPG (I always tend to give my animations a video game/visual novel sort of feel). The first eight levels are selected Megaman style. Now I just have to come up with a good party and playable mechanics.
So I was at Barnes and Noble between classes and...

Gotta say, they were the absolute LAST things I expected to see there. Considering they aren't even massively major characters in the anime...
Is it only me that don't hate Mio at all and, instead, just shook his head out of bleakness and pitied her, as if you just want to hug the poor little bundle of enthusiasm because her expectations were so far from reality and she was clearly too young to understand it?
I don't hate Mio, I just don't think too highly of her anymore. Really, she's more heavy joke bait for me than anything else.
What joke bait?
Good morning. I'm still a bit wobbly from the night before, what with my reason being I've celebrated becoming quarter of a century old.

My job hunting is almost looking like a fool's errand to me. ;_;
My job hunting is almost looking like a fool's errand to me. ;_;It's understandable how hard getting a job can be. It took me 5 months to get a job in the Federal Government (and I had a Bachelors and Master's Degree with no job experience) and I got over 40+ not referred letters or rejected, which is very discouraging. While I was lucky to get a job on my first interview in April, I had to move to get the job since not all the jobs were in New Jersey. During that time, I kept myself busy programing, blogging and playing video games. In this rough job market, you have to look beyond where you live. Sure, you have to get your own place, but at least you will have a job.
I don't know if I mentioned this, but I finally landed a job...and a permanent one where I can rise further in the company at that! I got started back on the 19th. I just can't believe that I, of all people, landed this position after so much bad luck in the job market!
Things are finally starting to look up for me! I've got a pretty fast-paced work week, but I'm still working on new projects. I think I have two ideas for Powerpoint animation projects.
Ah, hope your luck turns around soon. Are there any good drama teleseries airing over there currently btw? XD
Sometimes, I wonder where/who you all hang out outside the forum.
Outside this forum, I usually hang out with some members here on Skype. But, other than that I don't have many online buddies.

Probably gonna buy my first car on Monday, and i'm really excited about it because this car (or it's predecessor) is a childhood dream of mine since playing the very first Need For Speed about 20 years ago. Since then, in every racing game i used one of these 2 cars whenever they were even remotely available. It's quite a strange car to be a childhood dream, but then, i'm strange as well :p
a Mazda RX-8
It's the last car to be produced with a Wankel rotary engine, so it's something special and different from the usual. I say "probably" because it's a second hand car since they aren't sold anymore in Europe since 2010 due to emission regulations. When i found out about this thought that if i want one of these cars, then it's probably best do buy it now. I went on a test drive with it last weekend, and everything seemed okay. But on Monday i'll bring it to an independent test center which will check the car thoroughly and tell me if everything is in order with it. If everything is alright, i'll buy it.
And then i intend to put a Yukiho on the bonnet and/or the sides. Does anyone have a high resolution and/or vector graphics picture of Yukiho in idol clothes and with a transparent background?
Here are pictures of Yukiho with a transparent background, in some of them she's wearing idol clothes:

I'm not sure if they're high enough resolution to put on a car, though. You could also take an image without transparency and then remove the background.

There's always a lot of injuries and a few deaths nowadays, and if you get a chance, touring stores as it happens (or just after) is quite educational. It's less so now due to the advent of online, and the current economic climate though.
I used to do it for Boxing day sales (in Australia) and seeing where the damaged goods at major department chains were. If you want real carnage, watch the electronics or the women's clothing sections.
When you have a bad day, what you all usually do, to refresh yourself from it?
partly my screwed up stomach.
Just curious, why is your stomach screwed up? I know it's none of my business, so you don't have to answer.

What a way to start holidays. :3
Double-posting, but I had a idea.
What if Idolm@ster characters had personalities in the spirit and style of Dilbert, the comic strip?
How will it play out as a satirical commentary of the Japanese idol industry?
If Uzuki or Haruka is the Dilbert, then who will be the Wally? Or Alice and Tina? Who will be the Ratbert, Dogbert and Catbert? What kind of PHB would Executive Mishiro will be? How does the Producer play out in this?
Lemmy (from Motorhead) died. :-(
Basically, Grace is pretty much a vampire and comes out whenever she's hungry for some newbies' blood.
(She's pretty busy, so it's all good. Not like there's much stuff going on here right now.)
You know, whenever a character in other games/anime share the same name as an im@s character, I actually have to stop myself from thinking of the actual im@s idol.
For example, I'm watching my twin brother play this visual novel, and one of the heroines is named Ritsuko. I guess since I delve into im@s for such a long time that the im@s Ritsuko seems come up in my mind whenever I see/hear her name in that visual novel.

Try being a guy into iM@S, Street Fighter, and BlazBlue, all of which have a Makoto with short boyish haircuts. :p
Moving onto woes, I just got word AmiAmi pushed Yuriko's date up to February
Well then. (http://www.weather.com/storms/winter/news/clipper-lake-effect-snow-january-10-13)
Moving onto woes, I just got word AmiAmi pushed Yuriko's date up to February, despite having pre-ordered this last August.
I wish I could order figurines. But, I don't think they're very easy to hide since I'm assuming they're fragile. Unfortunately, I have strict parents/family, so all of my im@s stuff is stuffed inside box and hidden in my twin brother's closet.
Fuck my life
Yeah, a snow-covered paper made me slip... least I held my tea mug upright whilst on the ground. Save! :P
Speaking of winter, don't you love that "oh fuck" moment the second you realize you're about to wipe out?
While I was reading this I thought you were talking about driving. I've wiped out before while driving and it's very scary. To anyone who hasn't had much experience driving in winter, here's a bit of advice: if everyone else on the road is driving very slowly and carefully, you should too. ;)
David Bowie just died recently, now it's Alan Rickman's turn.
Rest in peace, Snape.
I've always pronounced it "eye-mas" like the "i" in "idol" or "icon" and "mas" as in "master" or "massive". :D

personally i follow the japanese prononciation (which is basically what people here wrote). Listen how the idols say "idolmaster" (アイドルマスター "aidorumasutaa") and leave out the unnececarry parts (ドル "doru" and ター"taa") which leaves you with アイマス "aimasu", where the "u" is pretty much silent
I pronounce it with "ee", but that's because I'm Polish, and it's the only reading for "i" in my language. I know in English it isn't and pretty sure that's not the right pronunciation, but force of habit, I guess (and I never had an opportunity to speak about iDOLM@STER in English with anyone).
Anyone here experienced with imagemagick? I know that this command will scale down a bunch of images:
convert *.jp2 -scale 50% -quality 40 scaled-%d.jp2
but I'd also like to keep the original file names as part of the output file names. The above command produces output files named scaled-0.jp2, scaled-1.jp2 and so on. I'd like to have file names like [original file name]-scaled instead. While I'm at it, how can I activate scaling algorithms other than nearest neighbor (like catrom)?
The results are thus equivalent to using -resize with a -filter setting of box. Though it is a lot faster, as it avoids all the filter processing of the image. As such it completely ignores the current -filter setting.
Well yesterday passed by and I forgot that that day was my 2nd year here.
I enjoy the discussions and good times we all have.

Noticed that we almost have 1000 members on the forum. Of course, most people aren't around anymore or just come and go. Luckily, there's a handful of older fans that are still sticking around. So, please don't leave us.
I lurk once in a while, but generally the last few months have been very busy aside from now that I am working and hardly have time, except for after work and weekends.
Just an observation. But, it's surprising to see how much money people are willing to spend on a particular kickstarter. Like you'll see several people going for those high-end rewards of $1500-$4000 on one kickstarter. I know it's their money and can do whatever they want with it which is fine. Still, sometimes I wish I had that kind of money in my wallet.
I've been recently trying to crack eggs with one hand. (I remember in the past Haruka doing that during the Gero Gero Kitchen episode).
I had to watch some youtube tutorials. Apparently, if I hit the egg too hard, then it comes out messy. But, if I hit it too lightly, then nothing comes out and hitting it again will cause it to be messy. So, I'm trying to figure out the right amount of force needed without messing up.
It might help to think about how deep to make the crack, or in other terms, how far to push the edge through the egg. Give the egg a nice, quick rap in the middle, and have the crack go just deep enough that you can complete the split with your fingers. I think gravity should also help for this last part too.
Do it fast and accurate enough and there shouldn't be any shell pieces falling out. Too slow or too shallow and the shell won't split cleanly and will crumble, dropping shell pieces. Too deep, and obviously the egg blows up in your hands. You need speed to make this happen, but all I think about is how deep (or if you prefer, when to pull the strike back). Theoretically, even if I hit it pretty fast, the egg will only crack as far as the gash I give it.

Has anyone ever used these old-fashioned reel mowers? Been wondering how much better they are than typical lawn mowers.
(checks the mail)
"Ugh...too much mail." I haven't checked it in a long time.
Starts tossing out junk mail and sees a letter from my parents.
"Oh, what's this?"
Turns out to be a birthday card.
"Whoops, I had a birthday card just sitting in my mailbox for awhile"
Anyways, turns out my parents gave me $20, and it got me thinking. To someone else it's not much money since my parents are poor. But, to me, that single bill is worth 20 million dollars for the sacrifices they endured to put me where I am right now.
