Title: the fig thread
Post by: kozu on July 22, 2009, 09:29:47 am
Thread's self explanatory, show off all your fancy ronery expensive toys. I didn't put this in the derived section because i wanted it to be a general thread.

Recently got these in a whole box that I bought during AX, didn't open them till now but lo and behold:

@overpriced food comments- They do that everywhere though.  Like at Universal Studios for instance, they overcharge on crappy food because they know people are too lazy to leave the park and eat somewhere else.  I bet if no one bought from those venders at AX their prices would lower next year if they came back.

Title: Re: the fig thread
Post by: yukipo on July 23, 2009, 07:32:31 pm
It would
And they're mostly Haruhi because Haruhi is mucho popular and it's easy to pick figs up from Haruhi for really cheap.
A pic would be lovely but I don't feel like it at the moment. I shall later.

lol, most (if not all) of my figures are GunPla. Although, I've only started collecting GunPla, so I don't have much yet. I have:

No Grades:
1/100 Infinite Justice Gundam

High Grades:
1/100 Gundam X Divider
1/144 Al Saachez's AEU Enact (I painted mine metallic red)
1/144 Graham Aker's Union Flag

Master Grades:
1/100 Super Gundam (Gundam Mk. II with G-Defensor)

I plan to get more GunPla in the future though. I also have one PVC statue (1/6 scale Rin Tohsaka), but I'm not into PVCs that much. I prefer Gunpla! XD

Whoa,I wonder how much that all cost!

Around a few hundred to a thousand, I guess.

Also, owning that many figures isn't as completely awesome as it sounds, because cleaning and dusting all of them every month is troublesome. I have to dust the manga books too, so cleaning my room can easily take half a day or longer.
Title: Re: the fig thread
Post by: Drunken Watermelon on July 27, 2009, 07:27:00 pm
That's why you find a way to dust proof your stuff or just never dust it and put a snowy backdrop behind all your figures.

How convenient that this thread got bumped...

I just bought a few small Im@s figures from an anime shop at the Richmond Center today. They were the boxed figurines that you don't know what they were until you opened them. I was really hoping to get Azusa, but ended up getting Miki, Iori, and Kotori. After the initial "nyoro~n :3c" moment, I ended up satisfied that I got Im@s stuff in the first place. The shop also had the Revoltech (I think that was what they were, I'm not much of a figure aficionado as others here) Im@s figures of Miki, Haruka, Ami, and I forget who else. There was also other Miki figures, including the awesome Brilliant Stage figure... which was about $100 CDN. :o Sadly out of my budget. There was all sorts of other awesome stuff at this shop too, including Haruhi, Vocaloid, K-ON!, and Gunpla, as well as the dreaded hug pillows...

Too lazy to take pics of my new figs now, since I'm going to be heading home tomorrow. I'll take some when I get back.

Also, Kotori wears white. Dohoho~.

I've been trying to acquire Happy Wedding Azusa for the last year, but I refuse to spend over 12,000 yen on it. All of the other iM@S figures are pretty poor, except for my crossover Yayoi, which can be found on my blog.

I'm not really into Nendoroids but made an exception for Kurisu and BRS, since I really like huke. Waiting on Alter Dizzy.

キタ━━━(゜∀゜)━━━!!!!!

sssssssssssss

Something I have found with these is that the hands are very...snug. Maybe it's just me trying not to use any force with these at all but idk.

But yes, I now have some AmiMami figures and I have a happy.

Oh I guess this counts as a figure too, a friend gave me it not knowing who the character was, apparently his mother found it in a charity shop(!?) and thought he'd like it, then he said I could have it since I knew who she was.

Google tells me she's supposed to be on a sofa or something, so I filled the gap with a glowing mew someone in the picture behind it gave me a long time ago.

Wow, you're collecting all plenair figure. But you missed the shark backbreaker one.
I really want the azusa wedding dress too but i cant stand the shipping fee.
From what i read the figure's weight is around 2-3 kilos which will add around 5000-6000 yen.

And yeah, most of megahouse imas PVCs are ugly. I like the kotori though but again limited (and pricey  ;D).

So I've just moved into a new flat...

I'll actually unbox them properly when my family stops swarming.

During this I also managed to get all my Yugimons one coin figures.

A couple have issues with staying on the stands and one of DMG's speech bubble stands doesn't even try to fit, but other than that I'm pretty happy with them~~~

My lovely, dangerous android lady came in the mail yesterday. :)

There's a Madoka Figma out now, which is tempting... but I'd be all over a Mami Figma if it was made. ;D

Probably a weird place to ask, but I didn't want to make a new topic.
I am trying to find this:

I believe it's a garage kit that got released last year.
I looked on Yahoo Auctions and couldn't find her.  :-\

e2046, some company in Hong Kong who makes high quality recasts has been selling recasts of that one for some time now for a decent price on a pre-order first come first serve basis ever since it appeared on a certain WonFes.
All batches they had sold out pretty fast so there's a decent chance they'll make another batch.

I can vouch for the overall quality of e2046 as I've been buying a good amount of recasts in the past few years from them. Though tons better than sloppy eBay recasters and recasts from Korean (forgot which country was notorious for awful ones so I might be wrong with this one) origins one should still be prepared to put in some extra work when compared to the original product.

Also, I should mention that "leet pros" look down on recasts but imo one should ignore those.

... Painting required? Aaaagh...

I know! When I first saw it I thought it was a prepainted model.
So now I'm looking for places that take comissions, because I have no experience painting.

Oh you poor little thread. Lemme revive you with some on-topic pictures of figures I got in the last couple of months.

Takuan!

Appears in random places, including my shelf.

Released on 31 July, after Max Factory said it would be released some time in July.

Ayase has a happy face.

Okay, this's the Ayase I'm more familiar with.

The figure shelf is getting pretty full. Amusing points: Otome next to Azusa, Azusa and Luka mirroring poses.

Seems like every man and his dog bought that Luka. I was going to, but I opted for Alisa instead:

I have about 40 figures now. I should stop collecting soon, or at least attempt to narrow it down. I'm not one for having them outside of display cases.

Having seen that out of the box. That Arisa is beautiful. :<

Messing around with post-processing for the first time. This isn't my photo, figure or cat. I just pulled one off the Internet that I happened to like in order to experiment with.

I bought the Afuu but I'm a little disappointed that it lacks a base.
