For some reason I can't help but want to tell more people or otakus on other websites about im@s.
Should I tell others? Because I've also made a group on Mangafox about im@s, but I feel like I'm just advertising. When I just want spread the joy of im@s.

Sadly, not all people would like Idolm@ster.
-
i'm sure when the anime comes out people will get into it.
One of the reasons why I wanted the anime to happen.

We're so unique almost like choosen ones.

Ufufu, I'm sure when the anime comes out, something interesting will happen.

People will disregard it like the first anime? Or the western fanbase will turn to crap? One of those.
Honestly, the original game has a huge learning curve and would take an open minded and determined person to play through the language barrier. The sequel is fanservice, I think people playing that first wouldn't really get why L4U exists (hint: because creating your own team with accessories you want and a perfect audition in the original is hard).
Plus, there's also the whole... region locking issue, and the PSP games being even harder, etc.

Boo, well gee, aren't you a bowl-full of sunshine and rainbows? ~_~
Yeah yeah, I understand you're being a realist and all that. Though I admit I do agree on some parts there. What with the 360 game being difficult and the whole language thing. Gameplay-wise, it is easy to pick up on. The main bulk of the learning curve and difficulty would be the dialogue and communications and such, with having to have knowledge of Japanese to learn, yes.
Considering that there is alot of dialogue and such in the game, I would agree on that point. Region-locking is limited to the 360 version, yes.
However, I'd have to disagree on SP being -harder-, actually, it's easier to play in SP than the 360 games. Particularly in reaching A-Rank. Due to lessons being timed instead of based on 'rounds', and scheduling that allows more to be done within a week. Then there's the mail part that can be used to acquire acessories and outfit pieces quicker as well as gain the Good PR boost.
Either way, I still hoping something interesting will happen when it is out, I never implied whether it would be good or bad.

The main ticket I usually imply is the music. That's what mainly got me hooked, and what sets my old obsessions and im@s is my favorite idols/characters have more to offer.
Plus watching your favorite idol(s) vids never get boring. :3
I bet also, if someone new to im@s gets favorite idol, then they'll come back for more. Since, the idol's job is to sell themselves and get people to love them!

This +1. I got hooked into iM@S solely by their musics.
If you want to spread the word about iM@S, the best thing you can do is to... well... go for the music route. That is, have them listen to the music.
The hardest fact for me is when my best friend said I'm into loli the first second he heard the voice in "THE iDOLM@STER" (pun intended)
I guess with the majority of the idols' age ranging from 12 to 17 at most (excluding Azusa, that is), they'll call it loli alright, as the "real world" idols people listen to are usually around 19-22++ years old.
Really, it's damn hard to convince them to listen to it when they've got the "loli" prejudice.
I did get him to listen to it 2 years later: after I complain about how I'm practically the only person in my hometown to listen to iM@S, he agreed to listen to them out of pity, and ended up liking arcadia and Cherry (mostly thanks to the high-bpm nature of 'em, just like K-ON!'s songs he listen to) but that's the only person to ever like iM@S that I know of.
I hope the anime will help lift iM@S's popularity, especially here (I hope up to K-ON!'s, that's more than enough for now). I'm fed up with having to import stuff directly from Hongkong or Japan when so many anime product stores are around and none of them stock iM@S related stuff in favor of BLEACH, Naruto, Fate, K-ON! and Yu-Gi-Oh!.

The IDOLM@STER FC on MangaFox is going nicely, it seems the best kind of audience to direct im@s to is otaku.:P
There are im@s fans out there, but not as direct as us here on this forum.
I also see some of our own members there, and I thank all of you for joining! :D
Check out the FC on MangaFox here (http://forums.mangafox.com/group.php?groupid=5726), and see how it's going.

I'm spreading iM@S to this anime stream site too.
http://www.watchanimeon.com/forums/
And it's going pretty well too!
-
I'm thinking on starting a group on Rooster Teeth... (You'd be surprised of how many anime fans are there.)
-
Just sent a non-idolm@ster fan the link to "Ai like hamburger".
She can't stop watching it.
Another fan won over?

waitwaitwait, they're okay with K-ON!'s stuff, which is a group of 16-17 year-olds in-universe, but can't get past the in-universe ages of the iDOLM@STER cast?
wut.
I actually don't really get people into it, though there seems to be a slight interest it in other places I go to because of the anime. Since it shows up a lot in fanart and the like, people see it as "oh, that thing is getting an anime, wonder what it's about." Maybe I'll make my boyfriend watch the show so he can actually get it :V (he still thinks its some dating sim like thing derp).

derp, indeed.

I don't see why you shouldn't. Go for it.
I've also made a group on Mangafox about im@s
You could also create a club on MyAnimeList. There, you could rake in thousands of club members all for that purpose. Heck, even my profile's comments look like an advertisement center.
Though, there is already a club that links back directly to here on MAL, only that it is a little undermanned right now.

It's more about iM@S not being known rather than being okay about the age: he had never even seen how the idols look like at the moment I had him listen to THE iDOLM@STER for the first time, let alone what iM@S is. The collective voice of the 9 idols does sound less like adults and more like below average teens.
Also, the presentation of iM@S itself does look a helluva lot like dating sims. Without putting a little effort into knowing about what iM@S is, people can easily mistake iM@S for a dating sim
I've always asked myself a question: "How do I explain to people what iM@S is?". I still can't get a quick and just answer

I usually say, "It's a simulation game where you raise an a girl to be a number one popstar. It's cool because you can watch her live shows, pick her costumes, and get to know her."

Something I said a long time ago...
Take Monster Rancher. Remove monsters. Replace with idols and good music. Also, monster fights = auditions.
Might not do ya, though.

Well, probably it's more about me being not confident enough to show I like iM@S than trying to explain what it is. My family don't really have a good understanding of "japanese culture"
I usually start with "iM@S is kinda like a group singer" or something, as I have only the music collection, but it gets harder to explain from there

Not caring is usually the best approach. My friends don't really like idolm@ster that much and no amount of explaining will make them like it. So I just don't care what people think and just tell them straight up what it is.
However if I'm actually suggesting someone to play it, who I think will actually like it, I show them a few videos, describe the gameplay more in depth, and talk about some of the characters.
