Wiki discussion / Regarding the "Unofficial Idols" category...
« on: June 05, 2016, 09:17:56 pm »
I noticed that quite a number of CG idols are listed under this category, which at this point in time makes no sense to have them filed under there, or for the category to exist. It may have made sense in 2011/2012 when CG debuted and you could classify them as unofficial due to being outside the main series, but nowadays, after CG has exploded in popularity, it doesn't make much sense to have them there. Especially since they have a more fitting category "Cinderella Girls idols" to themselves. I think that we should remove all the CG idols from that category and place them all under "Cinderella Girls idols" if they haven't already.

As for what Unofficial Idols means, I was discussing this with somebody else from these forums that perhaps it can be changed to "Minor Idols" as in idols that only make minor/singular appearances such as Shinkan Shoujou, Devil Angel, or Yumeko Sakurai, since "unofficial" is too vague of a term.

I decided to put this on the long-dormant iM@S 2 board as it feels more significant to that than anything else.

A few of the other members (from the Firday Get-Togethers) and I have agreed to have a special discussion on the "9/18 Incident" for its fifth anniversary this year. The discussion itself will happen prior to the date itself, as it is my birthday on the actual day on a Friday meaning I will likely have plans that evening. Also, yes, I am allowing early birthday wishes during the discussion. :p

I came up with this idea as I feel this is a good time to look back on such a controversial time and see if Namco have improved over the years, how the franchise and its fans have changed, and context of how it was back during the pre-2nd Vision days.

Why am I making this public? I want to have some additional people in the discussion. Specifically people that were iM@S fans around that time, just to have that other perspective of people that were around during the event or, hell, actually saw the event if you're THAT person. If anybody wishes to join in, please voice your participation on this thread. A few things, though:

1) This conversation will happen on Skype, thus I will need you to PM me your Skype ID if I do not have you as a contact.

2) This discussion will be recorded and uploaded on YouTube. Do not partake in this discussion if you have issues with having your voice recorded and released to a public video.

3) Only invite yourself if you are certain that you can contribute something to this discussion. Regardless of when you became a fan of the series, if you know you have something to contribute to the discussion, please go on ahead. This is a specific discussion about a specific event, not a casual chat.

4) When you are in this discussion, please keep it civilized. You can swear and voice your opinions; however, do NOT be rude, state something heavily controversial unless you can either back it up or it is relevant to the discussion, or disrespect the opinions of the others. If you do any of these three, you will be kicked out of the call and NOT be able to rejoin the call as any attempt at you returning to the call will be ignored.

5) At some point before the discussion (may even be as soon as I add you as a Skype contact), I will personally have a test call with you so that I can make sure you have a working mic and can chat this way. Remember, this is a voice chat discussion.

Date of the discussion is pending. I will post a concrete date and time on this thread when it occurs. I am trying for a mid-September date during the evening, preferably a week before September 18, 2015.

Anyway, please leave a reply to this thread if you wish to participate and send me your Skype ID via PM for me to add.

Thank you.

Well, 2005 was 10 years ago. Feel old yet?

Anyways, Happy 10th Anniversary to iM@S! An absolute milestone that it's made it this far.
Odd for me saying this considering I've been in this fandom for about three years...

If anybody has any personal stories about iM@S, why they got into it, and what they love so much about it, post it here. Whether you got into it from the anime, the console games, hell, even if you were a fan all the way back in the arcade days, post your love.

As stated in the tiny text above, I only got into iM@S around 2012-2013 when I first saw it via fanart while looking up some Touhou stuff. I saw some, got interested, and discovered there was an anime. I decided to check it out and it solidified my love for the franchise. I started drawing the characters, listening to the music, and doing my research on the lore of the series as a whole. It wasn't until 2014 where I discovered this site and found out "oh hey, there ARE other Western fans" and since then, this place has actually helped me make some new friends. iM@S has helped me become a more sociable person.

As for what I love about the franchise, I've said it before but I'll say it again -- characters, artwork, and music. The aesthetic stuff since I still have yet to play any of the games. The characters feel very genuine and likable most of the time, the music is usually a great listen (iM@S has even become my official workout music), and the artwork for promotional material and the mobile spin-offs always catches my attention. Heck, iM@S even helped me draw humans better.

So what are your personal iM@S stories? Please share in this thread how you got into the series and what you love most about it.

Happy 10th iM@S, here's to another 10 years and hopefully I can still be a fan even in my near 30s at that time. XP

General chatter / R.I.P. Satoru Iwata (1959-2015)
« on: July 13, 2015, 02:07:23 am »
It is with much sadness to inform you all that Satoru Iwata, President and CEO of Nintendo of Japan, had recently passed away from a bile duct growth.

Rest in Peace, Iwata-san....

Other iM@S games / THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage
« on: June 28, 2015, 03:28:04 pm »
Hey guys, new mobile game!

Now before anyone riots, this is a rhythm game this time.

also there is a PV for a new cinderella girls game, cinderella girls starlight stage
seems like the love live SIF game

Here's the official webpage:

Pre-registration is happening right now, but two warnings.
1) Servers are apparently acting up and it's difficult to get in.
2) Region-locked. You gotta work real hard to register unless you live in Japan.

Good luck.

General chatter / E3 2015 HYPE THREAD FEAT. GEOFF KEIGHLEY!!!
« on: June 12, 2015, 06:51:57 am »
NOTE: Sadly does not actually contain the Doritos Pope himself.

Since there was a thread for E3 2014 and E3 technically started with Occulus' Press Conference (to absolutely no fanfare), I decided to make one for this year. Of course, this is the time of the year where I stay at home all day and do absolutely nothing but watch livestreams for an entire week. Right up there with EVO, really. :P

Anyway, time to give our predictions and impressions for when it actually starts, cuz this year's a beefy one with eight press conferences and whatnot.

General chatter / The Friday Get-Togethers Thread
« on: May 29, 2015, 05:09:59 pm »
For discussing moments from the Get-Togethers or important announcements for me to make.

For those that don't know, every Friday at 7p.m. EST, a few members of the project-imas forums, including myself, get together on Skype and play some video games online. The games we mainly play are Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

If anybody wants to join us for a Get-Together one of these days, make sure you give me your Skype account so that I may call you and your Nintendo Network ID for the Wii U so that we can all add you because playing online with Friends requires we have you on our Friends Lists.

I sometimes thought about expanding this to other consoles, but so far I am the only person in our current group that owns an Xbox 360 whereas everyone else owns a PS3 or neither. If anybody has an Xbox 360 and either Ultra Street Fighter IV, Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing, Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, The King of Fighters XIII, Soul Calibur V, BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend or Mortal Kombat, let me know and send me your gamertag as I'll send you mine so that I can try and squeeze in some 360 time in the future and actually rebuy my Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Wiki discussion / Shinkan Shoujo page
« on: April 20, 2015, 08:55:11 pm »
Well, I decided to embellish the Shinkan Shoujo page on the wiki, but I have a few things to ask.

Can somebody please help me find a good file of the three (that isn't fan art, unless it's a last resort) to use for the page image? Cuz the one I uploaded was way too big and obstructed part of the page.

Also, I may need some fact checks since I'm not sure about what I put in the Trivia section and I want to know if the trio was in iM@S 2 in any way, shape, or form.

Wiki discussion / I made an account on the wiki.
« on: April 17, 2015, 07:04:21 pm »
Hey guys, MetalPredat0r here. I just made an account on the wiki because I think I can help contribute a bit to making edits as soon as I can find suitable facts. I do have a few questions:

1. How do I create a profile page for my account? Do I have to be an admin on the wiki or something to do that?

2. Would changing the agency of the Million Live idols in the OFA Main Page to 765 Productions be considered a bad edit, because they're the only ones with a game logo used for their agency rather than an actual agency, and I think it should be a bit more consistent.

3. Is there any way for me to post links that prove the information that I have in hand so that I can prove my information isn't false?

I'd like answers to these as soon as possible. I hope to contribute something to the wiki as a whole.

Community works / Fan Game Idea (THE iDOLM@STER: Wrestle for You II)
« on: March 24, 2015, 05:10:00 am »
Yes, jumping the gun a bit here, and I will get the original W4U thread finished as soon as I can, but I started working on this and I REALLY wanted to get this out of the way, right now. So, here it is. The direct sequel to Wrestle for You, the fan game idea project that I started on February of 2014. It was awesome to see so much support, views, and feedback given to the original, but now it's time to start things anew.

- The gameplay will change dramatically. Instead of a standard wrestling game, this will be a 3D fighting game similar to Tekken or Dead or Alive with lots of elements of professional wrestling such as grapples, weapons, and pinfalls.

- There will be fewer characters than in W4U Climax. The reason for this is to have more focus on the game since W4U1's got WAY too big. I already have the full roster written down and it is roughly around 45 characters. Still a big roster, but not to the extent of the original.

- Every character announced will have an icon posted on the front of the thread to keep easier track of the characters in the game itself. The thread will start off with eight characters (whom I will make individual profiles for soon) and will grow from there. The ones in bold are newcomers.

Haruka Amami               Chihaya Kisaragi            Miki Hoshii

Karen Shinomiya           Shizuka Mogami         Shiho Kitazawa

Azusa Miura                    Tsubasa Ibuki             Ritsuko Akizuki

Ellen Kurosawa              Kirari Moroboshi             Mami Futami

Yui Ohtsuki                 Minami Nitta                  Megumi Tokoro

Nicole Sanchez              Chizuru Nikaido          Rio Momose

Derived products, CD albums & anime / Help on Purchasing CDs
« on: January 12, 2015, 07:29:21 pm »
I'd like to start supporting official releases for the franchise, so I'll start small and go for CDs. I've been thinking of starting with the Greatest Hits compilations for both the main series (Greatest Best) and Cinderella Girls (Starter Best). Can anybody give me some tips such as best sites, most affordable listings, and estimates for shipping times and costs? I very much appreciate it.

General chatter / Idol Sorter
« on: January 11, 2015, 11:54:56 pm »
Basically, a way for you to sort your favorite idols. You can choose from multiple different sub-categoires at the moment including 765Pro, Million Live, Cinderella Girls, and Dearly Stars. Good luck if you also choose unvoiced characters in the mix. That's just suicide.

EDIT: Here are the results I got. I only did 765, ML, and voiced CG to save myself the trouble.

Here are my full results:

Community works / Fan Game Idea (THE iDOLM@STER: Midnight Groove!)
« on: September 30, 2014, 03:54:34 am »
Got a third fan game idea for you guys! No, this one does not involve beating people up. In fact, this one might be more in-canon.

Idols from all over Japan's biggest production companies (765Pro, 876Pro, 961Pro, 315Pro, etc.) have received invites for a competition. But not just any competition. A DANCE-OFF!!!

THE iDOLM@STER: Midnight Groove! will be a dancing-based rhythm game based on THE iDOLM@STER franchise with various characters dancing to songs from throughout the franchise's history. Pick from various characters and challenge others to see who has the best dance moves and find out who will win the title of World's Greatest Dancer!

Seems a bit on the silly side, but hey I gotta have something fun to deviate from all the fighting games. Leave your thoughts. I'll have concept sketches and other info on characters soon enough.

Characters / Side M Characters

Now it's 315Pro's turn to have a characters page. Post pictures, discuss, and wish a happy birthday to the cast of Side M.
