Let's say this. There's actual major plot points. One of them (it's the spoiler thread in question) most people haven't seen yet. You might suspect PART of it, but one part WILL catch you by the curve.

It's the sort of slow play, but there IS an end in sight, and unlike PS, it's all dependant on you and your progress in the game. I've no idea how many items are in the game, cause I haven't done a count yet. Just say 'A lot' for the time being.

Thank you for replying. I didn't mention the story as much as I should of as I had only gotten Chihaya to S and thought it wouldn't be fair to base all of the stories on that. I also wanted to keep Shika's plot point spoiler free as the game only just released.

As for my gameplay while I focused on Solo I did go back to earlier lives to EX Clear them for more CP to boost stats. I had planned on doing the other units and missons after that which I just reached.

I did notice some songs come out of seemingly nowhere, like Kiramekirari. I didn't know iDOLM@STER 1 was in there as I hadn't unlocked it yet.

I definitely think the game has plenty of content in pretty much everything but the communications, which is important to some people including myself. I didn't mean to say this game is just an improved PS, I just wasn't sure I could say with confidence that people who felt burned by PS would enjoy this game as much as One For All. It's possible the DLC could change things just like OFA was improved through free updates and it's DLC.

So having gotten Chihaya to S rank here's some positives and negatives about the game.

DISCLAIMER: This is only based on what I experienced from the beginning to 1 idol solo route. This is NOT 100% of the game's content.

  • The unit system! You can actually use solo, duo, or trio to S rank! Coaching also has it split into these and quintet. However note 100% completion will need to use the other types.
  • Obtaining songs and costumes is much easier than PS! While some are harder to get than others it's more a matter of saving up money than RNG. Presents in this game are for fan letters and bonus items only.
  • I won't spoil how but the credits for this game was my favorite since the original game.
  • The time limited system brings more variety to the lives as well as some sense of time management. You also get related rewards. (for example clearing the halloween live gets you a halloween recolor)
  • DLC from Platinum Stars carrys over.
  • New costumes. I really liked some of the new costume designs in this game.
  • Another little thing but I loved the different burst animations.
  • It's also much easier to max a song's level compared to PS
  • You can unlock Master difficulty early on and the gameplay for Master is harder (from my experience)

  • While the gameplay structure is great, I can't really say I can recommend it to people burned by PS. At least not right away. There aren't many new features added, but I found the few they did add made things much more enjoyable.
  • Not enough communications again! This is my biggest reason I have trouble giving the game glowing reviews. The day off commus were shockingly short (About 2-4 lines from Producer) and there's not really much more commus than in PS here. It's a shame as I did enjoy the ones they had even if short.
  • It takes a year to unlock the time limited lives. I nearly forgot about them until it was like "here they are". I get why as they're aimed at higher players mostly but they could have at least had the usual holidays during year 1.
  • The game seems to only have 6 DLC catalogs once again. Even including the PS carry over that's 12 catalogs, which is below average still. With the sped up release it also means support for the game may end quicker than last time if they don't do more afterwards.

THE iDOLM@STER Stella Stage / THE iDOLM@STER Stella Stage Gameplay Thread

Stella Stage is now released! Talk about the game and it's gameplay here.

And shouldn't it be Vertex instead of Vortex.
Yes it was a typo. Thank you. Fixed it.

1st DLC PV up.
Includes new song Vertex Meister as well as M@STERPIECE, Destiny, Ramune Iro Seishun, and Positive.

6 DLC catalogs from launch until March.

Here's a translation of Chihaya's story preview.

Oh man, one of the oldest songs is making back its debut after being MIA in two games.  Welcome back Massugu!

One of the articles also mentioned Aoi Tori being an unlockable song. It's very exciting to see it and Massugu return as it's the first time since SP iirc. (not counting spinoffs)

The next Nico Nico live stream for Stella Stage starts in less than 24 hours. You can watch or timeshift it at the link below.

Edit: Stream's over. Here's a brief summary of the new things mentioned in Famitsu.

Shika's song is called Blooming Star which you can watch here.

Default song setlist is the same as in Platinum Stars. (However you can unlock some songs through Coaching)

Lessons are the same as in Platinum Stars.

The dice are back sadly.

There will be timed specific lives (ex. New Year Live is only in January) you'll need to balance the boosts from work and idol moods from day off to pass.

There also are 6 title lives shown under the timed specific lives.

Hell Training from iM@S 2 is back, this time with a Kouhaku theme (the idols wearing headbands with their team colors from the song Kouhaku Ouen)

Also another Lawson campaign.

Edit 2: Pre reviews are out

Hibiki as leader -

Haruka as leader -

Yayoi as leader -

Chihaya as leader -

These are my impressions as well. It feels like Platinum Stars was an unfinished game that took longer to develop than planned for whatever reason and was released basically because they had to.

I'm kind of glad they did in a sense. If they didn't we might have been stuck having P drops in this game instead. Also I enjoyed Platinum Stars to an extent that I don't mind it existing, but wouldn't want the same mistakes repeated.

I feel you
I miss the days when each idol had individual outfits in each category Q_Q

What confuses me personally is we're not under 3rd Vision, yet the costumes act like they are. No classic outfits. (Even iM@S 2 had some) 4 costume types might have been more exciting if it was actually unique per idol. If it's meant to imitate a live, why not add MCs or other parts to make it feel more like a live? That'd be another way to add more dialouge. Platinum Stars was under the 10th anniversary label, and once again the "2nd vision" logo is missing here. It's like an odd inbetween.

Just wondering. shouldn't there be a Stella Stage thread instead since the game is confirmed...?? And move this topic there...??

I'm a mod so I can't do so but I've messaged the admin about it.

Famitsu now has details on the DLC carry over. Specifies that paid songs outfits and accesories can be carried over but mails items and money can't be carried over. (Which makes sense as the mails are game specific anyways) There's a few other notes like the preorder costume can't be brought over (the PS one), P drop costumes can't be carried over (so no DL Live ones), and boosted costume levels, skills, etc. won't carry over.
