iM@S 2 video requests / Re: iDOLM@STER 2 + S4U request thread

Oh wow, that was a lot faster than I expected.

Thank you~~ |D

Don't worry about it - I do  video capture (Well, did, Tokyo is all sorts of hosed at the moment) for a bunch of people up in Japan and they normally are pickier and demand far higher quality video (Lossless at about 4-6GB per take) than anyone here's asked for (at least yet). SAS setups and fast idle computers don't grow on trees, even if said tree is on the wrong continent, which is how I got roped in.

They also tend to give me literal choreography sheets dictating shot angles, down to the second. What I do here is positively lazy (since the shot AI is a lot more reliable now than in L4U) as I don't generally do shot control or run them more than once. I admit I'm not comfortable with the shot control in im@s 2 yet though.

For the record, I won't until someone gives me a choreography sheet, and if someone hands me a choreography sheet, they're making a MAD, and I'd like to see more of that outside of Japan.

Just sayy I can record and have a video packaged ready for a high end youtube upload done in about 20 minutes, from start to finish, if I'm free to do so and haven't got anything pending. (Uploading said video takes about an hour though.)

I'm feeling really down right now, so if anyone gets around to my request whenever they can, it'd make me very happy.  :)

Song: Megare
Performer: Makoto
Do you want it in HD: Yes, please.
Outfit: Street Hopper (with the heart-shaped glasses)
Stage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2FwE-enG_0 (The one at 0:36 with the disco ball. Forgot the name >.<)

Thanks in advance!

Cheer up, I don't know the name of it either. Then again, for someone who did import reviews for a while, most are surprised I can't read Japanese in any real capacity.

Well, considering how many times I've recorded Honey Heartbeat (Someone's bound to be keeping track) I'm somewhat happy someone's asked for something I can fill that isn't.

It has been processed. Please find the direct link at - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9DpOErhrgg

(For those who wonder - I upload 500MB files to youtube. At a 1.2-1.4mbit upload rate, you can probably do the math, and bear in mind that their Java uploader doesn't function at theoritical max.)

See the youtube channel as per signature for a link, or you can wait until I wake up to provide a direct link.

Song: Honey Heartbeat
Performers: Ami -  Makoto(Leader) - Mami
Do you want it in HD: As long as the quality is good I don't mind.
Outfits: Street Hopper and the matching glowstick accessories apart from the giant heart glasses and the ankle glowsticks.
Stage: Carnival Live

Processing, etc, etc. Australian uploading speeds suck.
As always, please find requests at http://www.youtube.com/user/MutsukiIchimonji and give it an hour. (It's being queued up - It goes all the way up to 720p, so bear in mind if you can't see the resolution you want, you'll have to wait for processing to complete)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wFPdtY30_M  - Direct link

Amusing accidently leaving on the glasses and the anklets triggers the third party autodetector - Not surprised actually.

... Honey Heartbeat is so good. * - * Could I request a performance?

Song: Honey Heartbeat
Performers: Mami (leader, 3), Haruka (left, 2), Miki (right, 4), Yayoi (1), Yukiho (5)
HD: Doesn't really matter to me~
Outfit: Street hopper

Being filled as we speak, waiting on upload. It'll show up on my youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/MutsukiIchimonji

Direct link can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xyvaMlD98M

As always, a 500MB x264 encode is available, and a lossless (via the UTvideo codec at 4.3GB or so) can be made on request, although you'd have to be patient on upload speeds...

I think I accidently left the accessories on, I apologise.

I really do think we should force accessory making as part of the request format - although to be honest, I'm partly tempted to make my own request program myself, to track all requests and the like and run a mini request database, but that's what programming in c# does to you....

My apologiies, I'm still trying to hammer out some things (As well as answer some questions I've always wanted to figure out.)

I'm trying to determine if 720p59.94 is the best format to record in, or if results can be improved (for youtube anyway) via various cross conversions.

Bear in mind that when I mean better, I don't just count the picture quality - it also includes frame rates.

My song was used as the base.

1080p made via 1080i60 (It reported 29.97 on the raw video though...) -> Convert to 1080p59..94 via Trilinear deinterlacing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXUcVgXuOLg
1080p59.94 made via a 720p59.95 upscale - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8sHxlNBjcQ
720p59.94 base reference - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z6pXu447lQ

Sorry to request a survey. I'll pick up other requests at a later point - I'd like to play AT3, and I need to unlock Ritsuko (and get more costumes, I'm a bit slow, but that's due to how busy I've been.)

Okay, time to ask - who gets major singing roles, and who gets support roles? - Leader is 3, support is 1 and 5 on the selection, and 2 and 4 are major singing roles.

I can pick up the request otherwise.

Performers: Mami (leader) Chihaya (singer) Takane (singer) Yukiho (dancer) Miki (dancer)
HD: See above
Other: Use the Best Schoolmate Outfit, and if possible, can you make them wear the glowstick accessories? Can you use the stage with the drum and the big fans? (I hope you know what I'm talking about.)

Filled and scheduled to be uploaded in about 3.5 hours - If that's not the outfit, you'd have to clarify which one. Same if you want bursts.

http://www.youtube.com/user/MutsukiIchimonji

It'll show up at my channel soon enough, but I'd like to get to bed before 4am, so I'll update the direct link  at (It's now done) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwWAX2jmWGg

It's third on the upload queue, and will be found on my channel once the upload happens - It takes 2.5 minutes to make, another 2.5 minutes to record, about 10 minutes to compress (And sadly) about an hour to upload. Australia sucks that way.

The description will be marked as a request, and if you want the 500MB compressed HQ version (x264), let me know after you figure out the best way for sending it to you.
(I can also offer the 4.3GB lossless UT video codec if you're patient enough, but no, unless you POST me a USB big enough and cover postage in both directions, I won't send the 14GB raw, although I can churn out video at an alarming fast rate.)

Nice capture, my fav idol and fav outfit so far.  :)

I also have a BlackMagic Intensity Pro (I bought it for imas caps, yes I know that makes me certified insane lol)  so I can do some requests in the future, but right now I need to work out what I'm going to use for the recording drive. People have mentioned using a 3-5 disk sata raid array but it appears your doing something else, so I was wondering what your using?

At the moment I have to cap at 720p using mjpeg, but ideally I want to do it uncompressed and then encode it later.

I can also provide you with online storage for videos as well if you like, but its an anime site, so not sure if that would be a problem or not lol.

Well, this'll be a long post, but it should answer virtually every question I could expect from you.

I do professional support (although due to Japan's crisis, I've resigned from Siliconera temporarily and my contacts told me they are unable to use the video I normally provide due to blackouts) so my equipment is actually borderline professional.

SAS is known as Serial Attached SCSI - You might have heard of SCSI - I'm using the next generation of it. Businesses use it for stuff like servers. I have the second generation of hardware (Which is SAS 2.0) and have had it for a year and a half now.

If you read the notes, you'd notice I'd state 3 figures - a raw write (at abbout 14GB for 135 seconds of video), a compressed lossless (which is 4.5GB compressed) and a master at about 500MB which was used to make the youtube video.

(For an idea, for the video, to read the raw capture correctly, you need to wriite at about 110MB/s - for an idea - A SATA 2 drive will read and write about 70 and wind down to about 40 when about to hit full, a good SATA 3 will do 110-150MB/s when empty. My SAS does 180-190MB/s, and scales down to about 160MB/s when it's about to hit max.)

(Although I have no idea how it handles sustained, which is what matters since capture cards don't ever let up - I only just ran the test now since I ended up with a SATA 3 drive as part of the setup by acciden so I might try record later on it, just to see if it can handle a sustained raw write, although I doubt it, because I ran it on differenting partions on the same drive, and it variated wildly, even though the drive is mostly empty (one has an OS and the other has a couple of programs))

I don't use a RAID setup - I only actually have one drive attached currently - which provides all the speed I need right now. I'll be adding further drives when I move to the 1080p60 space as well as 2k/1080p3D, but that will be at year's end, due to the fact it'd cost me about 2.5k US to do so.

The reason I went with the SAS is because attaching drives causes the speed to scale up at a near linear rate - (Two drives will net me about 350MB/s, 3 will net about 500MB/s and so on) and I can attach up to 8 drives to mine, and those speeds are maintained even as the HDs get full (The loss is about 25% just as it caps out), are rated to last with a 5 year warranty, and unlike SSDs, have a lifespan rating of a million + hours, not 500k write commits.

The downside? The SAS controller card is about 500-800 US depending, and drives are about 500-600 each for 600GB. I write mine off as a business expense and amatorise the costs accordingly.

You get business grade equipment though, so it's a cost/reliablity thing, and since I use it as a business tool, I sort of need it at the reliablity side of things. Being able to do im@s on the side without even thinking about it's a big bonus though.

I wouldn't insist on getting such an expensive setup - for me, I don't get the luxury of wasting time doing multiple shoots, and the people I support are annoying insistent with their specifications, so I build in a significant tolerance to make sure the only wall I hit is the hard drive running out of space (ie, my own damn fault for forgetting to move recorded data previously to working drives)

I'm fairly sure 2 or 3 SATA 3 HDs would do the trick at RAID0 reliably, although you will need to monitor for frame drops and have a place to store to keep the drive set working fast enough. I can't help there since as you can guess I don't need to worry about it

(And please don't whatever you do, use USB3 (either via the Intensity Shuttle or by a USB3 adaptor for HD or whatever or worse, both at the same time) for recording - this is due to the fact that most USB3 implementations do it WRONG - and consequently have issues.) unless you really can't avoid it, or you find one that does it right. It's a hit and miss thing at the moment, and from what I've experimented, I've haven't seen a hit yet.

I would recommend looking into some sort of abiliity to write raw though - I found the mjpg codec really REALLY annoying - mostly becauuse the field swap causes all sorts of issues (for some odd reason, it'll reverse depending if you're using the x86 or x64 version of the codec playing havoc on how it looks to other people) and encoding it can result in the field swap being the wrong way permamently, depending on the codec you're using and the system setup encoding it.

I run a i7 970 (as of last week), so my encodes are (From a 14GB raw write standing start) to that 500MB file about 2 hours, but more importantly, I can encode it in near damn anything I like, without something being funny about it. Your mileage may vary depending on your CPU of course.

Bear in mind if you REALLY have your heart set on the SAS, you'll need a PCIe-4 or 8x slot on the board - This will affect you badly particularly if you SLI and even worse so if you're capped to 16 lanes (Sandy Bridge (LGA1155) or the i3-15- i7 8xx series) - in fact, it's actually impossible if you do more than a 2way SLI, due to archectural issues preventing you even if you have the physical slots (which you most likely won't) because certain lanes are allocated to SATA 3, USB3 or onboard equipment.

Most recent SAS cards support SATA 3 raided up as well, although it's kinda of a waste.

If you have an AMD chipset (AM2+ or AM3?) that supports the Phenom X4/X6s you're luckier - they implemented the full PCI-e lanes (44 lanes off the top of my head?), although finding one with enough physical slots could be an issue.

Most current motherboards have some sort of RAID support, although how well it works out is dependant on how good your board is, more or less. You may need to get a card for that, but it's also significantly cheaper, and more likely to fit.

Anyway, if you want to host the files, I'm happy to provide - I won't be uploading 14GB monsters (At 1.4mbit up, it'd take about a day, and I'vve got streaming to do so...) although depending on demand I may send the 4.56GB files up. The 500ishMB doesn't seem a bad idea, and we can always link the youtube for previewing purposes, I guess.

I'd just want to see people make MADs (The videos that have been showing up on channel are me using MAD allocated footage), but that's because I've been doing such support since L4U's heyday.

I'll be picking up various requests once I actually finiish my programming work, which is in a few days. (I've been really, REALLY busy, and using this time to detox my head out of coding.))

Sorry for my absence - I'vve been busy with a macOS & PC upgrade (And consequently been offline for a week) although I did have a request - I'm trying to determine just how somethhing looks compared to a couple of benchmarks.

I put this one up here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urEpMzNKl8I

Yukiho - Relations - 720p60- native

However, I need to find someone who'd be willing to run a couple of comparison checks due to the fact I'm running off a new system.

Basically, I'm running fedility checks based off:

a) the 500MB compressed 'master' used to upload it.
b) the lossless 4.7GB (or 7.3 if you know the difference between 4:2:2 and 4:4:2 is) used using Utvideo
c) the 14.0GB (4:4:4, or 10 bit) raw file to create it.

Part of it is ''is it 'good enough" as well as "Did I apply the colour coding conversion correctly?"

I don't expect anyone to be able to assist with b) or c) (Unless you have a SSD or better you won't be able to assist with b OR c, and I don't expect anyone here to carry the SAS required to play back c reliably) although I at this point I wouldn't mind help with a)

Once I can get the fidelity checks done, I'll probably pick up requests in the future, assuming the Japanese situation doesn't blow up further in my face.

- Just a thought.

@Setsuna: Would be appreciated, thanks. ^^

@Picup: It's okay. Mix-ups happen. Thanks anyways! :)

Just wondering about this one, since I asked for it awhile ago. I think Picup said they'd take it, but I don't really mind who does. Don't worry, it's okay. I don't mean to rush anyone. ^^
I'm amazed how you've all been able to keep up with all the requests. Thank you for really helping out the community, especially we who won't be getting the game for awhile. Thanks!

I'll do this one - Did you want to watch the prerecord on this one live? I can broadcast the session if you want to watch production.

Encoding is done at whatever requested, pretty much...

Generally it's mostly decisions concerning exactly when to appeal, and to burst, and of course, attempting to switch to the correct person at the right time.

I haven't been able to sleep due to events and it might just be easier to do some work.

Well, I've been sort of working behind the scenes for a while, and I've (To a point) been released from providing MAD material specifically to certain parties due to the Earthquakes. I might do my day work as a playtester and freelance journalist, but I sort of moonlight as an im@s fan.

I figured I'd mention both, and the special conditions, because I'm used to VERY strict recording rules (At times, it'll take me and the requester a DAY to just settle on shots, and there's usually about 5 reels taken before being posted) so if the information requested seems overkill, I do apologise, since I lecture the people I work with because they DON'T give me enough information, and they complain.

Idolm@ster 2 doesn't have the voice modification, nor can you blue screen (yet) or the ability to erase lyrics from the screen from what I could see yet (Ala im@s L4U).

They DO have camera angles, as well as specific appeal setups (Namely, single, double, triple and quintet) and appeal variations, as well as any appeal transitions, since during bursts, they'll dance out part of it, prior to their special group appeal.

I'm sure there's people out there with good eyes for making nice video.

Yep, I really am used to people being that strict, because I've worked in production environments.

They suggested I open recording services on a freelance basis while they fix up things over there (Which will take they estimate anything between 3 to 6 months, due to rolling blackouts and the like, and you can guess that rendering and the like is difficult when there'll be no power for 3 hours a day and various renders take between 12 and 24 hours.) considering the equipment I sit on and my projected upgrade schedule.

I think they're also hoping to see some serious competition from outside Japan for MAD work by letting me loose for a while.

Well, I've been doing recording for a while, although I'm still working my way through im@s 2 for a while, and still unlocking stuff. I don't have that many costumes unlocked yet (Or Ritsuko for that matter *sigh*)

I figured I'd throw open what amounted to a closed system since I only supplied video to specific people.

Sorry to introduce myself quickly, but I'm the one who is running the livestream that's being hosted at Siliconera (www.siliconera.com for those who don't know) and the livestream is at www.justin.tv/illusionbreaker (Yes, I moonlight as a journalist, and consequently run on a schedule.)

Anyway, I carry a intensity pro, and (more oddly) a SAS, so essentially I can carry out lossless recording (Or more accurately, recording at 200MB/s It shoots out L4U video to about 16GB or something for the 2:15 it runs)

Needless to say, I won't be torrenting out that much data (it'd take uh, a few weeks straight) although I do send out USBs (64GB ones) for im@s L4U material, but only if they're sent to me via Post, and if you're not in Australia, that might get a bit impractical.

So what does this mean?

I can field all requests, as well as provide a preview prior to the production run on arrangement.

I also can set minimum file sizes and encoding rates, which means you're not restrained to youtube, zoome or any other online service. However, I only upload at 1mbit so if you start asking for filesizes of 1GB or more, be prepared to wait a while, assuming I fill the request.

You'd also have to either nominate either a file hosting service, or suggest a torrent I can upload it to.

I request all requests in this format:

Platform (L4U or im@s 2 - I DO have all the DLC for L4U)

Group members

Song

Stage (For L4U, you will have to specify colour of screens too)

Costume setup, by category. (I don't have a complete im@s 2 costume set, and I've yet to figure out how to upload the 400MBish for all the compendium I use for reference yet. Anyone want to help here?)

Other special notes (Such as lines to voice, by who, camera angles and the like - Bear in mind specific camera angles will require a lot of timing, and consequently lots of work.)

Encoding requirements - Youtube enforces a single pass 3mbit h264 encoding. If requested I can fire it up way beyond that (My standard is a 2 pass before upload, using a mp4 container), but as you can guess file sizes will increase dramatically.

Live demonstration required? (yes/no)

All video will be recorded at 720p as a bare minimum (I will not record in SD due to technical limitations), and when my recording setup is upgraded (I estimate maybe in six months - I am scheduled for server upgrade for faster encoding and more importantly, a move up to a Intensity Decklink Pro) 1080p60 will be offered as an option.

Please PM me (I'm hopeless with anything other than e-mail, since I work a fair bit)  for any requests.

- Just a thought.
