Can you just buy Microsoft Point Cards (American) and use it for your Japanese Xbox as long as you have a Japanese address?

MSP are supposedly region locked. Marketplace or the Zune thing won't accept foreign codes period..
is what it says on the card itself and everyone mentions it all over the internet as well but EU ones however seem to work just fine on the JP Marketplace..
Can't say the same for US prepaid card though.

US cards won't work.
