Dearly Stars Translation Project?
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:24:35 am »
So after playing for DS for a few months, I've finally put the game on hold. Why? I want to know what they say, simple as that. I can understand bits and phrases, and my Japanese teacher can help me with some of it, but other than that, promotions just have me mashing the A button or the touch screen, picking a random choice if I don't have an idea and praying for a perfect communication.

I have the data files and all, but I'm no good with Hex Editing. Maybe someone can grab scripts, and people can translate them like for the PSP translations? I'm just suggesting this whole project, so nothing's set in stone yet.

That aside, iM@S DS isn't that hard to follow imo.
The only part I actually had great difficulty with was getting a 'Perfect Communication' (yea, I know the game doesn't care at all if you do everything perfectly or if you mess up your choices or something else but who cares) during the Ryo and Makoto Press Conference thing.

The story's what makes the game so interesting though, it's a shame to only half-understand DS.

I just got the game and it's hard to understand. I was exploring and I accidently deleted my saved game.  :-[  But the game is prertty good, though sometimes you might not get the results you wanted. LET'S GET TRANSLATIONS!

I'd be up for translating, but I know nothing about hacking.

I would like to see this game get translated. I played some of it in a emulator but I didn't have much fun because the story is obviously where it's at and it looks hilarious.

So that makes it slightly legal to translate. : D Fan translation for a fan game. Joking...but..

I really don't know anything about hacking games, but I could help with translation clean ups.
Kinda sounds more of a dream project as the game is a bit old.

That's crazy. The best reason to translate a game is either because you are positive it can't be released due to legal/cultural issues or you feel that enough years have passed for you to know that it will never be officially localized.

I was actually just thinking about playing Dearly Stars, I suppose I should wait and see if this goes anywhere.

I guess there will never be a translation of dearly stars.
So anybody know a walkthrough in english so that we can understand the story?
Or videos that have subtitles in english?
or any fan sub?

Does anyone know how to rip videos from the ds and add subs? Cause I might be interested in doing this.

I'd guess using an emulator would be one of the ways. Maybe the only one. Not sure how's the performance...

Someone's recorded most of the game to YouTube already. Just swipe those.
