THE iDOLM@STER > THE iDOLM@STER 2
iDOLM@STER 2!!
Magenta Galaxy:
I'm kind of possibly clinging onto the belief that you might be able to 'unlock' the Ryuugukomachi idols later in the game - especially as it looks like they'll be your Fes rivals for the first half and Jupiter might be for the second?
But I'm kind of resigned to Azusa and Ritsuko seperation and will have to live with it, I guess.

I believe it was straight out of Sakagami's mouth during the TGS event. Otherwise, this very ominous sounding comment from Ishihara, during his interview with Famitsu (linked earlier).
EDIT: I'd like to add that, my memory could be a bit fuzzy whether he actually said, word-for-word, you couldn't produce them, but I remember hearing something out of his mouth that pretty much confirmed it for me. I'll never forget that feeling...

I would like everyone to not think of themselves as Haruka's Producer, or Chihaya's Producer, but rather as a 765 Producer, and enjoy their time with the idols in the game that way.
The Im@s2 main page says you can add two guests to your unit for a stage live, from Ryuuguu or from the 6 you're not producing. This was also reported in Famitsu.

Edit: Ama.jp is full of reviews of 1/5... here: http://goo.gl/fcht
Demeter:
I'd like to thank everyone for their responses to my question.
It seems to me that both Ritsuko's unit and Jupiter are meant as Rivals in story mode, though you'll probably be able to pick and choose from all of them in office mode.
And I don't think of the introduction of male idols in Idolm@ster is bad, it's just we all tend to resist change, even though it always comes given time. I also think that if this succeeds, an Idolm@ster for girls, or ladies side is a definite possibility.
And finally a LOL at the 1/5s, I can't give a rotten review to something I haven't played yet (at least I can't).
Kyo:
Pre-release reviews are even more amazing than destroying your own stuff.
This whole thing reminds me of the New Coke debacle which I used to study all the time in Marketing and Economics. Many Azusa, Iori, Ritsuko and Ami fans have been with them since the Arcade game, so it's not surprising they feel betrayed.
