I agree with you, there. I think if they introduced Ai, Eri, and Ryo into the game somehow, it'd really be huge. (As I always say; the DS game wasn't so great, but that's no fault of the 876 idols XD)
Besides, as aforementioned, it would be a big waste if they used nothing from the DS game...though, weren't the people in charge of the DS game fired?

I understand that might invoke some serious murderous rage should it happen, but I approve of this idea. I'm getting the feeling it's not going to happen, though.
... But the lack of versus... kinda brings a tear to my eye. I mean, I really did like how the game worked before, there were some strategies you could use depending on the situation, and trying to figure out where you stood in relation to others was engaging.
Now, it's a rhythm game, which... seems like there could only be one strategy, despite all the things you can do. Really, I think how deep the game can get is determined by how the multipliers change. I mean, it's still an improvement over most rhythm games, which are pretty much Perfect Attack fests (not that it's a bad thing).
The way it looks like right now to me... Do I dare say it?
Promotions seem to be like the DS Promotions, except with more idols (and more idols at once).
Events seem to be in the style of both SP and DS.
Lessons... well, lessons are lessons, even if they're new, as long as they aren't Performance Lesson terrible, it doesn't matter.
Auditions replaced with Festas.
And that's what Im@s2 is generally looking to shape up like to me.

YUMEKO!!!
... I realize I'm probably the only person here that'll say this.
Neko-P:
Actually, I was wondering why Yumeko didn't have a CV or song or anything. I mean, she's supposed to be an idol, too. Maybe 876 picked her up, and Ryo was brought over with the other guys at 961 along with another guy?

Cookie time.

Ishihara: I said this before, but Im@s2 doesn't have online versus.
Ishihara: We used the format in SP as the basis for Im@s2's story mode, but in order for us to reintroduce the whole burning spirit thing, we aren't actually making it a straight shot to the single ending at the end like in SP. The endings branch out, so if you don't give it your all to win, you won't see the true ending.

Two symbols on the map: Red microphone clash, and two people with a yen sign in the corner.
Note the columns: Time cost (3) and money cost (0). I think that's what the symbols stand for: a clock and a bag that looks like it could be stuffed with cash.
Under the schedule: Remaining time, money.
Second box: Southern area, number of fans.
Bottom left: Money. The same bag symbol is here.
Bottom right: Above what the buttons tell you to do, these look like map zoom symbols.
My speculation? Promotions give you money, you spend money to do certain things.

She wasn't the focus of the game... even if she was a major character in Ryo's story arc. We're also dealing with a DS cart, with more limited memory. Voices were only there for senpai idols, and for the main idols during important events. Anything else was probably asking too much out of the cart. 10 songs with 3 voice tracks each, plus voicing? As far as I know, you've only got 512MB to work with at max, and I think it was mostly used just for all that music and voicing.

Ritsuko also sings Smoky Thrill? Then I believe we can play Smoky Thrill in free concert mode and with the idols other than Ami, Iori, Azusa, and Ritsuko as well. I love Ami's voice in Smoky Thrill. XD
