I... actually don't see that. But then, it looks like Miki wants to give her all to being an idol, so... well, I honestly don't know Awakened Miki that well.
Appeals seem to reset the multipliers to 1.10, and give you auto-points. Bursts seem to double the multiplier, but you can only appeal to what the game tells you to. Thus, the dominant strategy seems to be: milk out each category until they're all worth the same points, when you've got a full bar, Memory Appeal then Burst.
Ech... I hope I'm wrong. If there were some way you could know what appeals the Burst forced you to do, then you could run up those multipliers, but I'm not seeing that. Maybe it has something to do with which idol you have appealing?
And as far as Idol NPCs go... well, it's just a thought in my head, but if there's going to be any conflict that gets anyone pumped... you need someone that's just bad. And I mean, like, evil bad. Kuroi's around, but is it enough with just him? The Festa is all versus, you know. It still could be just him, I suppose, if he runs the machine or something.

I have no idea what you're supposed to do during that audition. I'm sure it's easier than I'm making it out to be. I can't see that little instruction thing that pops up before the audition.
I think that "loser" thing might become a micromeme among the fans. I laughed when I saw it!

Well, if you give it more depth, 961Pro probably has more idols than just Miki, Takane, and Hibiki. The same kinda goes both 765Pro and 876Pro too. The story just focused on those particular idols. If I might take a guess, since 961 is going to be in iDOLM@STER 2, Ritsuko and her unit might considering to transfer to 961 and it will be up to you to persuade them to stay with 765.
Also, I was probably the one that asked What if Ai, Eri, and Ryo were going to the new 961 idols?

From seeing that video clip it certainly looks more flashy, showing the rival's bursts etc makes it a bit more like your actually competing in the audition. As far as what to do, I don't think its that far off the usual, just hitting the button shown in the centre to make the appeal.
What I find interesting is which idol is doing it, so it appears you can switch idols, so use one for maximum visual impact and another for max vocal - is this new or did the original IM@S do that? (I only have SP so I don't know how it worked with more than 1 idol). Given that the player in the video 'lost' is the the score and status etc on the right the rival's stats?
I can't see anywhere the judges status, like in SP if you appeal to much to one judge they walk out, that doesn't appear to be there, and noting the voltage and score elements, is it more fan/audience orientated like L4U I wonder?
On a slightly different note, it appears you take 3 idols, and you can add in 2 your not producing, which can include Ritsko's idols, therefore if you take 2 of hers, what happens when your auditioning? Do those 2 not support you ? - which would defeat the point of it, or does it mean she has to pick 2 others to go against you? I'm wondering if there's a potential tactic in that. I only see 3 in the screen-shot however, so maybe this unity is only for the TV performance?

I like the new song "Smoky Thrill." I don't know why but for some reason it reminds me a little bit of "Overmaster" from 961 pro. I was looking at the audition and LOLed at the "loser" sign. Seeing from Azusa's and Iori's cute and girly costumes posted a few pages back it looks like they might be produceable.

So I see that Miki now likes Nail art. Miki really has changed a lot over the past year! XD
