Literally, the article used the actual English word guest when describing how they'd pop up on stage (after certain conditions have been fulfilled). Don't forget you could put Takane and Hibiki on stage in SP, but you couldn't produce them. I'm pretty sure you could change their outfits too.
I'd wait until next Saturday. Not everything'll be revealed, but we'll still get some information.

So the free concert mode like L4U is available it seems. And I can put any idols, including Ami Iori Azusa and Ritsuko, on the free concert stage. Looks fine for me then. ;)

Maybe they have a Story Mode / Free Produce thing like in SP, as well.
But at least we -do- know there's a method to get the "unplayable" idols on stage ;) And if there is a Free-Produce where we can still play the actual game with the idols they yanked, that's even better XD
