*Thinks the other way around*
What if Project Jupiter didn't exist? Then wouldn't iM@S2 be a little boring to play because you can only be rivals with your own production? (and wouldn't that mean friendly rivalry?)
Well, you never know. In the original, you didn't have rivals at all sans the people you went up against in auditions.
I wouldn't say the rivals are necessary. They just make things a little more interesting.
"I'd like a boyfriend." as in "I want a boyfriend." She didn't say she was dating.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

hmm, I must I have have been wrong then. I went and checked out the PVs and there wasn't any mention of it.)

Jeeez, my mind makes things up so bad. I could have swore that Mami said that Ami's boyfriend did something and that's what caused the split up... I must have been imagining unless someone says otherwise.

Well...If you're really sure that's what they said, how about taking a picture of it and post it here?

Well, I guess I gotta apologize for a sec, I'm operating under the assumption that Ryuuguu isn't going to be playable, but eh... I don't think that's unreasonable to think at this point. They would've said something by now, unless (like I mentioned earlier) they're planned as DLC. I doubt it, but if so then release day would be an appropriate time to announce that, I think.

But whatever. I was thinking that they didn't have the resources to pour in all 13, and had to cut some idols. I still want this to be the case, but when I really thought about things, the other four idols are doing most of what the other nine playable ones are, except for all the commus (secret, event, and regular) and maybe something else I'm not seeing. It's something I'll have to play the game to find out what's in it, then I can decide.

I was also thinking that maybe one or more of the seiyuu wouldn't or couldn't drop that much time on it. I guess if nothing else, that's the only reason I can think of to explain things. Doesn't really put my mind at ease, since I'd have no way of knowing if that was really the case, but... it's either that, or someone at BNGI really hates people like me. That doesn't seem to make sense, but worse things have happened. ^^;

Even if the largest part of what I hoped would be the game's appeal isn't really there for me anymore, I'm still hoping it will be a good game. I'll play it, then I'll see. I just hope I won't see things that'll rule the first two possibilities out, is all.

Well, you never know. In the original, you didn't have rivals at all sans the people you went up against in auditions.

Generally you need a supporting cast to drive narrative, but just to throw some food for thought out there, not all conflict has to be with other people - it could also be conflict within the person himself. Heck, you could totally do something with say... Yayoi's family or something. Bring the fact that they're poor as dirt to the fore, and how she deals with it and I think that'd be a good playthrough. Bring in her family as NPCs, if you want. Just sayin', there's multiple angles to make conflict with.

Not really. I wanna see the characters developed and stuff. Not saying the way they're going about it, it's impossible, but there's many different ways to do it. ^^;

Woah, did this thread just blow up or something? Three pages of posts within one day.

Anyway I think you'd definitely be able to produce the four idols from RK. C'mon guys, Bandai Namco is not stupid.

I don't think it has anything to do with seiyuus not being able to commit the time or anything. I mean, the game has been in production for over a year. Recording the lines take, like, a week at most? The development team definitely has enough moneyhats to make sure the seiyuus comply.

Story produce for the four RK idols is definitely in the game. In fact, it's probably why Jupiter was added in the first place. RK = rivals for your initial idol unit. After your success with your first idol unit, President Takagi disbands RK and gives you the reins to that, and Jupiter = your RK's rival. Because on your second playthrough, if you can produce a unit with RK members in it, then obviously RK can't be your rival no more.

If story produce for RK wasn't in, there would be no good reason to add Jupiter. Why would your idol unit need TWO story rivals?

Continuing with this train of thought, then it perfectly makes sense that RK's story rival, Jupiter, has to be an all-guys idol unit. It would have been easy for the development staff to pick another 3 female seiyuus for RK's story rivals. However, if they did that, the three new idols would get popular and you'd expect to be able to produce them.

Hence they made Jupiter a male idol unit. It's perfect. Give them one, maybe two songs. Doesn't take much developmental resources since people don't expect to be able to produce male idols - Idolmaster is still technically a galge.

There may or may not be a Jupiter mode. I seriously doubt they're playable - imagine Tokimeki Memorial with all the girls AND the guys from the Girl's Side series combined together... that would be really weird and wouldn't appeal to either demographic. Maybe BanNam is just putting Jupiter in with one song to test market reaction. If it's received positively Jupiter might receive its own spin-off.

But I'm guessing that the thought process behind Jupiter was not really "hey, wouldn't it be a great idea if we added a male idol unit to Idolmaster" but rather "crap... we have a problem here... if we put in a second female idol unit to serve as RK's rivals... it's back to Idolmaster SP again. The fans will want to play as these new characters too. It will take us a lot of developmental resources to make these three new characters (animation for lessons, etc, record A LOT of songs)... what should we do... how about a male idol unit that's guaranteed to be unpopular? That way we don't need to spend too much time making them and stuff."

Anyway, I predict that in a couple of weeks all the gaming publications will do a feature on this right before the game comes out, to clarify things and drive sales for the game.

Heh, I'd like to say they ain't stupid, but hey... I've been disappointed before. ^^;

Well, whatever. I hope you're right on Ryuuguu's account. I'm doubting it, but I really do. Only thing, I haven't seen a four-person dance, but eh, it doesn't mean it's not there I guess.

Although I do hope you realize, reason number two is now close to being off the list, if it really doesn't take that long. But don't mind me, I'll continue scratchin' my head for ideas...

Yep.

If this is a test to see if the male idols can sell out, then what's the reason for putting Ryo in Dearly Stars?

This is Amiami's LE. Just as I've said before, there is no LE of the game, only store related material.

It's 1000 yen above the regular edition price, and includes a set of cards.

Yep.

If this is a test to see if the male idols can sell out, then what's the reason for putting Ryo in Dearly Stars?

Dearly Stars was a title aimed primarily at females, right? I felt that all three characters and their respective stories kinda appealed more to female players than guys. It didn't feel like the Idolmaster I'm used to, thats for sure.

Anyway like I said for Imas2 it was more like, we need a second rival unit but we don't have enough resources to make three more female characters, so lets make them male.

Or maybe the male idols are supposed to be an antagonist for the producer or something.

In any case I don't think they're consciously trying to reach out to a female demographic with Imas2. This is not Pokemon after all.

What's that I see? Special rules on Yayoi's card? Something about taking 12 points from players?

Oh yeah. I think I chose right.

I know this was a couple pages back, but just out of curiosity (a simple response without explanation will suffice) what is the difference between the asian version of im@s and the japanese version besides price?

(I'm not planning on purchasing this game for a while)
