@ the o(ff)t because I'm lazy to quote: my god, I feel the same way about L4U -- I thought I was okay at rhythm games and the sort, but when I started L4U it made me think otherwise ]:  I don't have much of a lag delay since I'm playing on my laptop (although, to hit perfects I do have to time it like a fraction early than following it with eyes).  Don't let that 3% voltage pull you down, you get better over a short period of time.

Oh and Agent Yoru wo Yuku is like hell -- I think it's the only song I still haven't gotten 100%+ voltage...

now on topic:

Those things are like some sort of mascots (from namco? I don't really know) that you get from each "state" you visit in the game.  I think it said there are 48 of them?

I guess we'll have to wait for more info on that. It seems a bit easy to have to collect them in game...I wonder if there's some sort of catch to it?

Not sure if you'd consider this a catch, but basically you buy these NamKyara amulets at each of the 47 prefectures (there's also a 48th NamKyara Ouendan Chief) with money you presumably earn from auditions/promotional activities and stuff.

They're supposed to help your idol group in some way, but it's not specified if they're stat increases (with or without penalties) or otherwise. For all we know you might have to actually equip them as a costume part or something.

Wow, why would you want to do that with the video capture device's crazy display lag?

By AVI mod I'm assuming you're using the X360's component+composite video cables, and hooking up the red/green/blue to a HDTV and the yellow/red/white to the Dazzle?

Bah, I didn't mean AVI mod, I meant VirtualDub.  Sorry I'm totally mixed up with names right now.  And I plugged in the AVI cables directly into the Dazzle.  It doesn't lag as much as you think -- at least with VirtualDub - using the Pinnacle program that comes with it makes it lag badly.

Although, I do the other method you pointed out with my American xbox if I'm going to record something, if not I just play directly on the laptop.

Anyway, I have a Hauppauge HD PVR and I'm gonna see if VirtualDub makes minimises the lag enough for me to play anything on my laptop.

From what I've done so far, it works well if you're not recording.  When you record however, the lag is unbearable.  When I find some time I'm probably going to play with the settings to see if I can run it smoothly.

Just to chime in: I think the timing in L4U is a little strict. It feels that way, compared to everything else I've been used to, and I don't think it was necessarily lag. Could be wrong, though.
