Wiki Backup - Just in Case
« on: March 23, 2010, 07:11:21 am »
Hey guys, with the possibility of the site being shut down and everything i thought it would be a good idea for us to create a Wiki back up of some sort. So that in the future rebuilding the wiki would be pretty quick and all those translations of songs that took forever for you guys to translate won't be lost. When the site was down for that short time our rescue op was somewhat chaotic. So I figured i'd split the work in an organized manner so that its not just on person trying to copy and paste the whole wiki into word. So if you want to help out just post up

What we need:

Character pages: basicly just a simple copy and paste of all character pages into a word document (the pictures will not be copied over when you do this so be sure to save the idol's page pic somewhere else.)

Weiβ Schwarz TCG character cards: there are two ways to do this
1: have one person save all the cards (which is alot)
or          2:split the cards among a few members

screenshot pictures: the wiki is full of screen shots so someone (or some people) will have to save all of these

Game Info: this one is pretty easy just copy and paste all the game info pages

Albums: this one will be split up into several groups depending on how many people step up and volunteer(don't worry about CD covers we can just google them)

Composers and Lyricist: Just one person could do this. Don't worry about the pages never done (red links). just copy and paste.

Concerts and broadcast: just copy and paste (only one person needed)

Merchandise: copy and paste the page

adaptations: same thing

Songs: This will be the most important one because im assuming this one took the most work with all the translations and time put into it. This one will be split based on how many people volunteer. It'll probably be split by albums.

External sites: Just copy the list of external sites and make sure you have the URLs that go with them

If you volunteer make sure you keep everything organized each page should be saved as its own word doc. pics should be sorted into folders by character etc. it'll make any future rebuilding easier.

Be sure to post up here before doing anything so we don't have everyone doing the same thing.

I'll back up the character and seiyuu pages- i really want to do the songs too, but i guess that'll be a big organized effort so i'll wait.

EDIT: 'k, done. Should I upload the files anywhere?

I'll pm you a place to upload the files when i have it all set up thank alot tamara. thats one thing off the checklist.

I'll take care of the Screen Shots on the wiki.

When we get some more volunteers i'll organize the big jobs like songs and albums.

I'm currently dumping an XML dump of all pages along with the pictures. Full thing should be around 150 MB, I'll post it here later.
Alternatively, you've got Special:Export for XML dumps of individual pages, but it doesn't include images.
If you just want the page content, put the page titles (i.e "THE iDOLM@STER: Live for You!") in the big box, check "Include only the current revision", uncheck "Include templates", and click the button.
After that you can simply open the file in an editor like notepad.
