-Winter-Olympics-2010- (Summer Olympics 2012)
Cien Laguoire:
I actually rather liked the ending ceremonies, aside from a few bands that played, but that's on my own personal opinion.
I did really like how they finally raised the final pillar and had Catriona LeMay-Doan light it. Really rectified that unprecedented mistake in the opening ceremony.
Also, dat goal in the men's hockey. That's going to be quite a highlight on his resume, and I'm willing to bet he's with Pittsburgh for life after getting gold. But aside from that, that last game was one hell of a match. I couldn't have asked for a better game. Congratulations to the American team for being such great competition and for their silver medal. ;D
After the final win, Canada managed to get 14 gold medals, which is the most for one country in any one Winter Olympics ever. Big congratulations to the Canadian athletes that made this possible, and congratulations to all the athletes that came from around the world to participate. I also extend my sympathy to those related to and friends of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, the man who died during practice runs before the Olympic events took place.
The Winter Olympics are over, but this will certainly be a very memorable one for me, to be able to have this chance of a lifetime to go to these events. ;D

We need to recycle, so we're doing Olympics here in this old, dusty thread.
I only have one thing to say at the moment:
Beijing was better.

I haven't seen much, but I did see the first few minutes of the opening, and I really liked the video directed by Danny Boyle. I like landscapes and scenery, and all of the effects were really cool together. I wonder if I'll like the whole opening ceremonies more than Beijing's, but I honestly think it won't be hard to top Vancouver's. Even as a Canadian, I felt the 2010 opening ceremonies were pretty weird and didn't really capture Canada well. Then again, Canada is huge and extremely multicultural, so there's only so much you can do.

David Tennant did not light the torch.
I am furious.
XD
I didn't know this thread existed! Well, that and I don't know if I was here on the forums for the 2010 Winter Games - but I was here physically!
Anyways, congrats London for hosting for the third time! - and wish I was there :D
Too much to comment on.
However, I will say I liked it - was a bit puzzled at the 100 foot Voldemort - but on the whole, it was fantastic!
And, let the games begin!
Allons-y!
