the only way I could imagine this NOT alluding to that was when a similar thing happened (with Hatsune Miku, promoting Project Diva), that was still PSP-only and didn't carry a PS3-follow up (well...yet XD)

By all means, iM@S, come to the PS3. We welcome you.

But it did bring about an arcade version of Hatsune Miku. Hopefully THAT will come to the PS3.

Edit: Confirmed.

Tokome:
If we do get iM@S for PS3, then I expect imports to come. PS3 is region-free after all.

Well, region-free doesn't necessarily mean the company will officially import it, if that's what you mean XD
Of course, people will import it anyway~ Works well for the PSP so far :)

Well, seeing as the Xbox 360 version is still Japan-only, I doubt the PS3 version will come here. I was talking about eager fans who can actually play it with out modding or chipping their consoles. Like me. :D (If I had the money >.>)

Scotty:
Being released on the PS3 means anyone could play it not because it would come here (it won't) but because the PS3 isn't region locked like the 360...
