"Yuri and Yaoi" - What do you think about this? FAGANIME
"Tsunderes" and "Lolicons" sell a lot today.
"Moe" are for freaking anime-girl loving otakus. Yet they sell the most. And also "Tsunderes","Lolicons" and others are part of this category.
"Harem" animes are declining due to overuse in the past
can't agree with you more there.

But yeah, that typical Parody Anime that tries too hard to parody EVERYTHING and yet fails. Lucky Star is one of the few that succeed.

Only a few "Parody" Animes succeed because there are only FEW parody animes. Some animes have some few parodies but i don't think that it would make that a parody anime. Still Lucky Star is a good example.

apparently no one understands what moe means :K
silly websites and subs using them incorrectly

loli and tsundere do tend to sell more, also lets not forget the stuff like queens blade lol
shota, loli and yuri are the 3 things i think are slapping down the popularity.

please feel free to correct me but isn't moe when a character has qualities that give the reader a strong urge to protect said character. and if im not wrong then moe is easily confused with loli. which would mean that loli slaps down moe's popularity because people think that loli is moe.

please forgive me if im wrong and do correct me ASAP

I don't really know the meaning of this otaku term "Moe"
I'm only a normal person that can watch 100 episodes of anime every week.(My work has a lot of freetime that's why)
I'm not an otaku either.

Quote from: myself
'moe' is not a separate genre or term of animu
moe means anything that you find arousing, something that turns you on, or basically means 'fetish' like megane-moe, tsundere-moe, etc.
moe is an otaku cut-off term of moeru (燃える) witch means to heat up or used as a self-adjective it means you're feeling fired up.
:K

i dont blame you guys if you got it wrong, but thats what moe really means

otaku is another word that america has corrupted.
dont feel proud to call yourself otaku cause otaku is another word for hikikomori except your reasons are for games and anime instead of being totally jobless and lazy.
it doesn't mean "anime fan" it actually means "anime freak" someone who is a psychopath for anime.
if someone in japan calls you otaku, feel free to compare yourself with a sexual predator, stalker, or a victim of manslaughter.

Thats part of it though, most anime lately have been creating a one-way view of what moe should be, with titles like (well, anything by Key really) stuff like Air, Kanon, Clannad and Shuffle ect. Now its like, "oh yeah moe is all about cute girls" when the true definition is what you said before.

edit: I didn't see all the replies after that one I quoted. sorry ;;

my opinion is that some anime have been taking the word 'moe' the wrong way or misuse it, but the japanese viewers seem to notice that or understand that. and its because they already know what moe means before watching these animes.
and people who dont understand japanese seem to take it the wrong way with the anime as well.

In regaurds to Tsundere: it has been a rising trend but I think it's more a problem along the lines of the miss use of the characterisation.
A tsundere girl is supposed to represent a natural relation between strangers, if you are a girl and you meet a strange guy the girl isn't exactly going to instantly warm up and fall in love especialy in a high school setting where theres many other guys with similar aspects and some look much better than others.
This falls under the notion that typical the lead male isn't a hunk or does not have significant ambition and is getting this descriptively attractive girl.
If tsundere is performed correctly it seems like a normal relation between a couple as opposed to "she is a crazy bitch and suddenly falls head over heals for this normal dude"
In regaurds to the trend, yes it has been used poorly enough times to create a negative reaction to viewers with bad scripting.

i guess the reason there's not alot of yandere is because fans don't like the concept of seeing the shy and seemingly innocent girl become violent and in some cases murderous. its sort of gives the feeling of betrayal to viewers/readers.

Yandere is basicaly the message of a slasher film, if you sin the psychotic cute girl is going to murder you in a very heinous manner.
Placing a yandere character in a story easily means this character will at some point take center stage, if they are not trying to kill the leads they can only be seen as a back character.
Even though yandere can be something a very love crazed girl might think to do as an act of final punishment on a cheating boyfriend, it is not in the realm that it can be consistently repeated for an anime series.
This is why the media that Yandere appear in dating sims where when you get a bad end you get a REALY bad ending.
A yandere girl is much scarier thing than any slasher movie villain.

As long as the industry doesn't start pumping out yandere to become attention makers for there series, the better it is for the terror that should be incurred when one thinks of a yandere girl.

Also, if a female character is a proffesional assasin THAT DOES NOT MAKE HER YANDERE

BTW the other reason why we don't have more Yandere is due to Nice Boat

The biggest problem with yandere is that it's pretty hard to come up with anything original for them these days.
It's pretty hard to create the build to a yandere, especially when you want to make it a surprise.

school days and fate/stay night are the fathers of yandere lol
