I'm currently listening to the demo of a plugin called
Lowender. With the right pair of headphones (or a good subwoofer, I imagine), Lowender makes you feel like you're listening to your music through a movie theater's sound system. But be careful not to turn up the volume too high and damage your equipment (or your ears)! The download page says that there are plugins for Windows and Mac, and are in the form of "VST, RTAS (and AudioSuite), and Audio Unit (on Mac)." If you have a way to run any of these types of plugins, and you like bass, then this would be a fun thing to download and try out. Unfortunately the demo inserts 5 seconds of silence every 45 seconds. Now, if only the full version didn't cost as much as my headphones.
Edit: I found a free plugin called SubSynth that aims to do the same thing. It's available as part of a collection of
free plugins by mda. I had to read its
help page in order to figure out how to use it.
