Just a heads up, you have 6 days left to enter a group buy on Massdrop for Audio Technica ATH-M50x Headphones at $127.  I chose V-Moda Crossfade LPs over these, but the M50x is super popular and are a steal at this price.  Check if you're interested.

It's probably the greatest Vocaloid song I've ever heard.
I freaking love Hitoshizuku-P SO MUCH, every song she does is just perfect!

Her "The Butterfly, the Flower, and the Spider" has some of the best harmonies I've ever heard in any song ever. These three-part harmonies and just aaaaah~. It's so pretty.

Well, I put some time on these (mind you, not a whole bunch of time), and personal opinions...

Technically, the bass is good - it's punchy and pretty precise, but it's sometimes a tad over what I tend to like. When there's nothing but a bass line and one or two light instrumental lines, the bass is a little too prominent, but the moment a bunch of instruments chime in, the focus goes away from it. However, I know that's just my own personal taste, and I've heard that will go away with some more time.

Female vocals sound warm, and they're Audio Technicas, so you know a good grip of effort was spent in making them sound good. Acoustic guitars are really detailed - the definition on the picking is pretty accurate and very colorful. The phones feel pretty balanced between all three spectrums, though if you were to say they're mid to mid-high forward, I'd believe you.

When I started out, the phones were pretty bright, and some cymbals (and especially sibilance) was more biting than it should have been. It's been calming down with some time though, and while all the percussion is punchy and there's some sparkle in the highs (that's a good thing), it's rounded off enough to feel smooth without jabbing your ears with needles. Only thing is sibiliance will still occasionally be brought out more than it should. These headphones have been described as bright, so I guess that's to be expected.

The piano stands out with these headphones. I've never heard a piano sound as good as these phones make them sound. Drums are pretty good as well. In general, anything with a really tight attack (drums, piano, guitar picking) is done pretty well.

I've also heard some phones are forgiving with bad recordings and can make them still sound good, but I'm really not getting that feel with these headphones. With the detail you get out of these phones, you'll know if something sounds off.

They're still being worked in, but this is how they sound to me so far. Really good set of headphones, immensely comfortable, and let's not forget they look classy.
