I must have very tolerable tastes...the older I get the less prejudice I become I guess. ^^
I've actually come to a little bit like rap *shot* ...note that my usual music tastes include techno, dubstep, and metal
Anyhoo~ I'm listening to Chemical Calisthenics by Blackalicious

Don't get me wrong, there are still good artists out there... Sadly, it's overshadowed by mediocre and horrible artists like Bruno Mars, LMFAO and Katy Perry... They make my ears barf, which is why I'm so bitter to western pop music, especially if they resort to Autotune to mask their lack of talent...
Again, No offense for people who like these kind of music, but yeah... Firm believer of Sturgeon's law

Well that's make me two listens to both sides, American Music isn't really bad you just have to find gems within the coals (in your view) :P. I enjoy listening to music of any genre as it speaks about something in itself, I tend to favor Music that incorporates unique beats and rhythm combining the classical with the contemporary.
Other than that I've accidentally got addicted to 結城アイラ (Aira Yuuki) again after stumbling upon her in my playlists xD (Colorless Wind!!, Dominant Space <3), along with Asami Imai (not as chihaya xD).

Depends, Perfume for example isn't so bad its from the Japan, yet stumbles upon the same criticism for using auto-tune. Imo, auto-tune is just fine as long as it is used properly, if it goes along the way, I tend to be open-minded to things auto-tune=not necessarily bad music or crappy vocals. Im surprised of all you picked Bruno mars is decent although I've never listened to him that much and katy perry whom is quite good too, Rather than ehrr... let say justin bieber? ::)
And personally I can understand you since I used to think that way also, till I broadened my view which was the best things I've done in my life Imo, everything is subjective nothing really sucks nothing is good that's part of being human.
Oh well as they say To each their own. If that's what you believe then I respect it then.

I know Autotune is nothing new as pitch correction has been there for a very long time to fix simple mistakes. Still, my main concern is over production of music and less emphasis on talent. Even so, autotune isn't going to make completely talentless people like Rebecca Black sound good... God, she basically killed American music with her really ear bleeding song, Friday. It makes me rage when I hear it. also, I hate the fact that most pop music these days are all about partying, sex and drinking.
Then again, I am pretty cynical, especially now since I watched too many pop song reviews from "Todd in the Shadows." Therefore, I can never see American pop music the same way ever again.
Aside from that, my ranting is getting a bit off topic, so I'll leave it there.
