Problem with Perfect Sun: Can't get past the main menu

I can't get past the main menu, I've tried all the buttons, X sends me back to the title, O brings up a loading screen on every option and sends me back to the title screen, and the rest do nothing. Please respond asap

Choose "Select a new idol to produce" and press the circle. If it doesn't help, post a screenshot here.

Whenever I press O on the story option, it goes to a load screen, then back to the title screem

Were you able to resolve this?

If you're playing on a normal psp, the controls should be O for confirm and X for cancel.
If you are playing on an emulator,  check to make sure that your controller of choice is properly calibrated to the options you want.
