Hey, hey now. I know what they've shown was enough to lose people's faith on it but there's still some room to turn our opinions around. Speculation is key, after all. And my speculation, this Dante is under some psychological conditioning so that he'd think his name is Dante (possibly he's trying to assume that he's the Dante). We did, after all, see him in a few seconds in some form of torture room.
Don't worry, I'm still hoping it turns out alright. I mean, it still can be a good action game. But that still doesn't mean I accept that guy as Dante.
The thing is... this is the fifth game in the series. Most series don't last that long without getting stale unless they constantly reinvent themselves, and I think Capcom knows this. I will always believe that there was one flaw in DMC3, something so fatal, it could ruin the series. What was it?
It was too perfect. Styles were probably the best thing to happen to Dante. Vergil was just made of awesome. And I know a lot of people don't agree with me, but the regular edition's difficulty was spot on. The game is probably about the closest to perfection you could get. How the crap do you follow up on this without doing more of the same? Well, four came out, now five, each trying to do something new, each not really focusing on the Dante we've all known. First Nero, now... some random dude. We don't even know who he is.
But please... don't let it be Vergil. The guy they showed isn't that cool. Some random guy? Cool. Nero? Okay. Vergil? Dante?
Just no.
