Nobody plays CT anymore except for a handful of europeans.
Still, if you can borrow CT from a friend you should definitely play it, CS's story wouldn't really make sense without it.

Also, how come Tsubaki goes 'ku' in her joke ending, the one where she meets a certain doctor...

Well you have more characters (two normal, one unlockable and three dlc coming out), there are some differences in the battle system and your typical fighting game tweaks. Overall, its just like Super Street Fighter IV, if you don't already have Calamity Trigger, you might as well get Continuum Shift (it also has a cheaper release price too)

You knew it had to happen, given their voice actresses. ^^

The biggest gameplay change from CT to CS is the guard system and bursting (look it up if you're curious, I like the change). It otherwise plays the same, with new characters (including 1 of 3 downloadable characters planned that are out right now), and some new moves for the original cast.

Some stuff that I've picked up, just around...

Litchi is apparently goddess tier with the execution barrier that hates the world and is hated by all. Bang is apparently god tier with the jab from stupid. Rachel is now nerf tier. Not that I'd know firsthand, though, I suck.

Some stuff that I know...

Hazama runs out the timer and has a pretzel for his Astral, what the crap. Tsubaki does pitiful damage and nothing good ever happens to her, what the crap. Makoto has a stupid loop that looks stupid and a drive that's essentially an extra attack button with stupid timing, what the crap. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KJqXIiz8MU)

And Hakumen got better. Holy crap!

... The best thing that happens to Tsubaki (relatively) happens to her in her joke ending. Therefore, I accept it as canon.
