So I found the box set for Persona 3 just for $15. Of course I'd buy it.
Now, this is my first Persona game. I've spent an hour or two on it, and I actually can't find it's appeal as a game. I mean, the setting and characters are interesting, but the daily formula seems tedious, and the battles don't seem so interesting. Does it get better?
If you're still on the first month of the game, then there's really not much to do. There are a lot more 'visual novel' elements as you progress (Like grinding your Academic, Courage, and Charm stats; as well as your Social Links), along with dungeon crawling elements in Tartarus (Which you only really need to spend two in-game days on at a time). If you're also familiar with SMT Nocturne's format, you'll also notice that story sequences are spaced apart over long periods of time, and while that may be the case, the story sequences are actually quite heavy once you reach them.
While I absolutely love the game (played it six times through and spent 456 hours on it

), I don't think I could recommend it unless you are either a big fan of SMT, or into dungeon crawling/VNs. It definitely gets better though, in my opinion.
