With hard emphasis on confines. Woe is PC gaming as of late, when console ports take precedence.

I don't think fate is too harsh on it. There are still games on the PC that have active and thriving modding communities, but you'd have to figure that a release like Doom, aimed for a console audience in addition to PC, would not have the options from past games. Odd, too, considering it was Doom that really popularized it in the first place.

And that today, over 20 years later the original game still has an alive modding community. And that the publisher has a few series in its portfolio that generate far more money later in the life thanks to modding. And that one of them is trying to bring PC mods to consoles in hope of finding the same long run profits there as well.
