I think what worries me more is the comments in said article, as well as general commentary revolving around the decision.
I really, really, really hope for most of the people making commentary around the game that their employers (or potential employers) don't find out about their comments.

I guess for those that missed the Final Fantasy XV news.
-The release date is on September 30.
-There's a prologue demo available (not the same as the demo from last year which could be only obtain by buying Type 0 HD)
-There's going to be a CG movie prequel.
-There's also a 5 episode anime OVA (I think based on events before the game?)

-There's an Ultimate Collector's Edition (cost $270) that just got sold out in like 40 minutes. (There was a total of 30,000 copies)
-There's also a Deluxe edition ($80) and Day one edition (regular edition)
I'm planning on getting the regular edition.

I don't know, i played through all numbered FF games apart from 9 (i tried it about 2 years ago and couldn't stomach 13 seconds loading time before every random battle so i gave up midway) FF 11, which is an MMO and 12 which is not available on any system but a PS2 (which i don't have). I played a lot of 14 though and even completed 10-2, 13-2 and 13-3.
But FF15... somehow i just don't care about it. Final Fantasy should not be a bromance road movie, it just feels so wrong. Nor does the battle system belong to an FF game. Seriously, they should have kept the name FF Versus and not make it a numbered game.

Everyone has their own personal taste, so it's okay to express your opinion.
I played Final Fantasy 4-9 (played just a little bit of 10 and 12 but I guess that doesn't count). But, I think Final Fantasy XV will be good. I guess I could address some of your concerns. But, overall it's up to you if you want to give it a try.

I mean, the overall story/plot is about war, monarchy, politics, etc. The road trip thing is meant to emphasize the exploration part of the game which is something fans have kept asking Square-Enix to do since recent FF games didn't really have that. You can drive your car, and then park it on the side of the road so that you can explore the immense landscape.
As for the all male party, they decided to be different this time. I mean, there's still female characters that play a big role in the game like Luna (heroine and protagonist's fiancee) and Cindy (Cidney). There are JRPGs with all female party, and I think Final Fantasy 10-2 it was all female? So, I don't think there was any JRPG that had an all male party. Obviously, all past FF games had mixed party members so this will be a first time the formula will be different. The developers stated that putting female party members wouldn't portray an all male party/bromance very well.

Square Enix seemed to want to make FF games to be more action oriented. You could sort of see the trend in the recent FF games. Final Fantasy XV is probably the most action oriented FF game, but I think that's good at least for me. Since I'm a fan of action games.
I don't know about Final Fantasy VII remake, but probably they might implement both action/turn-based elements.

I think it was actually called FF XIII versus in the beginning for that XIII project they've been planning on. But, I guess since FF XIII versus was so huge and it's been in development for a really long time, that they decided to make it a separate title thus FF XV.
