Yeah, but it wasn't like the story for Origins wasn't just as flat and typical of Bioware, so if anything, at least Dragon Age 2 attempted something a bit more complex and offered different plotlines for each Act, rather than just "defeat the big dragon". That's not to say Origins didn't execute it wonderfully with the sidequests and worldbuilding, but the Origins story was pretty much just as weak as Dragon Age 2's, so that can't really be a huge point that they're trying to make. Plus, the story of Dragon Age 2 didn't have any major plot holes either, so it was done rather decently.

Dragon Age 2's main downfalls were repeated environs and the story, and otherwise kept up the standard of Origins in terms of dialogue and writing, not to mention improving on the designs of the races and also fixing that annoyingly stale combat while keeping the element of tactics. There just wasn't any reason for the huge backlash for it, because there really wasn't anything major to complain about.

It just seemed to me like it was a huge case of bandwagon sequel hate. People expected the sequel to suck and by God they were going to react as if the sequel sucked, regardless of the fact that the sequel did in fact NOT suck.

Huh...that makes sense.

Anyway, been getting my start in the Atelier series by playing through Atelier Meruru. I like the balancing act between developing your kingdom, alchemy, and level grinding. The characters themselves are fun to see...

And I like how the newspaper notes what you done. On a related note: I am *not* committing acts of Puni cruelty. I am *not* a genocidal maniac hell-bent on killing their existence through spiked balls and bombs, with reports of cannon fire, too.

Totori is waiting for the right time to burn the whole kingdom and kidnap Meruru, Keina is a witch, Rufus is the true power behind the throne, the king thinks alchemy is the Devil's work, Filly is sent by the kingdom of Arland to secure their position over the kingdom of Arls, and Hanna is working for another side looking to discredit both kingdoms. And Lias sucks at his gatekeeping job.

I bought two games at the same time - Diablo II and Kingdoms of Amalur - and I'm currently engaged in a ferocious internal debate on which one to play first. I'm thinking Diablo II since my friend really wants me to play it online with him, but... Kingdoms of Amalur is really fun.  :(

I really need to pick up the Atelier series. I have Atelier Iris 2, but none of the others, and since I liked Atelier Iris 2... But a lot of the later games are PS3 only, and I have an Xbox 360.

So yeah, no Vita games at the moment since I downloaded another Japanese game off the Japanese PSN network...I bought Shining Hearts since I watched that anime and I was kind of unsatisfied with the ending. But yes, finished the very first stuff in the game with some quests and delivering bread to Flora I think...

Of course, there are apparent differences from the game and the Anime with the former being way better. Still, using those Japanese radicals since I only know a handful of Kanji is painful, although I almost finished all the elementary Japanese grammar.

So like... while I wasn't looking they added Easy Mode to Dragon's Dogma.

... Seriously? How about a Hard Mode, 'cause I'm in my own easy mode right now - doing every quest I can get my hands on has overlevelled me, and I'm wishing I could cap my level.

After sitting on my shelf for some time, I finally got around to playing Syndicate.
So far, it's not bad.

Finally got farther in Shining Hearts and now got the Blue Key, which is probably the third chapter of the game. Still liking the game a whole lot more than the Anime, although I still can't figure out how to make four star bread yet. Also, I don't think I'm close to finishing, although I'm not sure how many chapters are left, but still a long way from completing since each side character has a story line, I think...

Also, I decided to download Project Diva 2nd from the PSN network to get some idea if I want the new Vita game down the road. Normally, I'm good at rhythm games, but the game is pretty intimidating compared to The Idolmaster with all these notes flying over the screen. It was driving me crazy as I messed up quite a bit and being unable to clear one stage. I guess more practice is needed until I get used to it, although I heard there are ridiculously hard songs in the game. (Seriously hoping that Idolmaster Shiny Festa isn't as disorientating compared to this...)

In addition, playing some more Pokemon Black 2... currently training an Altaria, named ことり.

Finished the NA release of The Last Story. Took me a bit to get used to the name changes, since I was too used to the names when I went through the JP version. :P English dub was pretty good though. Dem accents. I probably won't NG+ it right now though... or play online.

With the announcement of the Saidaioujou 360 port, I got so hyped that I jumped back into Daifukkatsu ver 1.5. Guess I'll get my scrubby-ass better at scoring for the next few weeks/months, in between other games. :l

I picked up Gravity Rush, so I may start on that soon.

Gonna have to preorder SDOJ when I can.
Still need to preorder Forza Horizon.  Although it's a different take on the Forza series, street driving really excites me since I'm not going to get a Fairlady Z of my own for a while.

Beat the main storyline for Sleeping Dogs today.  It was satisfying and thrilling from start to finish.

Recently heard about a game coming out on the 3DS called Project X Zone. It's Namco X Capcom X Sega.

There's apparently SakuTai in it, Mega Man X, Devil May Cry, .hack... heck, there's even Ulala from Space Channel 5 of all people.

Well crap, now I want a 3DS. I suppose I should wait to see what the gameplay is like, though. Also, does anyone know any good 3DS games even? I haven't kept up with that system at all.

I liked the story.

Winston...Uncle Po...JACKIE!!!

As for games, still been going through World of Tanks. World of Warplanes might be cool now, since it has Japanese planes, especially a jet-powered Shinden.

It's supposed to play really close to Namco x Capcom, if you've played/seen it at all. I really want Project X Zone for the Sakura Taisen (And Valkyria Chronicles) characters alone. XD

I'm not sure what kind of genres you're into, but if you do end up grabbing a 3DS, there's always stuff like Project Mirai, Rhythm Thief, Senran Kagura, and Code of Princess, to name a few. Also, it's backwards compatible, so you have a vast line-up of DS titles to play, if you don't already have a DS. And as long as the games aren't "DSi Enhanced", then the region-locking won't apply.

Damn. The wait for the bundle (Yes, I ordered the bundle. My wallet really hates me for that...) will be quite agonizing. Thankfully I'll be on vacation over the weekend to keep my mind off it.

This means that you bought the Vita? I am enjoying mine although I don't have any Vita games, just Japanese PSP games I downloaded off the PSN network.

I'm wondering about the Vita version of Miku since I only have the 2nd version because i want to get the feeling for the gameplay first.

Oh great. I remember that game taking a bit of time for no other reason than I had to combo/guard a billion things every combo. I only played a stage at a friends' place though - maybe you get used to it?

In other news, I've been messing around in P4U, and waiting for my expenses to settle down so I can order the entire rest of the series sometime. It's a pretty cool game, though this is coming from a relatively unskilled player, and playing against a friend, I actually feel like I'm putting some strategy in the game already rather than dash up, do combo and fail, repeat. Of course, it's not much strategy, but hey.

Auto-combo, whatever people might think of it, makes for some stressless finishes. The Rock and Roll motif in the game is also great - super finishes are more stylish in this game than any other.

Currently looking into Yuu, Akihiko, and Labrys. Noob first impressions:
Yuu has a command overhead and a command low, both of which travel. As if I didn't like that enough, they can end combos too. He can also do a little double teaming with Izanagi, though that fireball needs to be better.
Akihiko has chains everywhere to a low, a dodge, a throw, a combo ender, a reversal DP, a command parry, and an overhead. I find that completely and totally awesome - he actually has a lot of the tools I like seeing in characters I pick.
Labrys has great hitboxes, good range, and mixups as well. I feel like I want to play her pretty carefully until I can get something in, then just go wild. She's also got an accent. And color scheme 2.
