Lessons don't really mean that much in this game, do they?

I mean, they affect the initial judge appeal percentage, but you can always get that up by being good at your memory appeals.
Having higer stats seems to affect the decline of a judge's interest as well.

And even if you aren't good with those, you no matter what have a 10% chance of winning, right?
Sadly the inverse is true as well...

Well, they mean something to me, for sure. they're more fun to do than the auditions!

Though, the auditions in this game are truly a disappointment. I actually look forward to doing auditions in SP XD I also like the stage performances a great deal, and since iM@S DS goes day-by-day rather than by week (and because of the auditions *shakefist*) it feels like it's a lot longer before I actually get to see a performance.

also, unlocking costumes/accessories is just...ugh. OTZ

Unlocking costumes/accessories is annoying in DS -- but it's kind of the same in SP imo (although, I'm not very far yet in Story mode so I don't have a definite answer).

But I think I've gotten more 'blanks' on DS for fan mail more than anything >_>; (poor eri don't cry)

Out of my own curiosity for those who've completed the DS version, I was wondering-

a) How many hours have you plugged into the game?
b) How much replay value do you feel is in the game?
c) Have you played it in public?  Any reactions from people?

Not too much. Each idol's storyline can be complete in about 3 to 6 hours.

b) How much replay value do you feel is in the game?

Well, each idol's storyline has multiple endings, so it may take multiple playthroughs to see them all.

Yes, I actually play my im@s games in the public quite often (in my university). Surprisingly, people who see me playing actually become interested in the games, and start asking me questions about im@s and such.

I finally got my copy of Dearly Stars, exactly 5 months ago from today when I pre-ordered it from Play-Asia (**** you, PA, for completely botching my order).

Could someone help me figure out what exactly does the panel system do (the one where you have to insert some colored blocks against the lyrics of the song)? I reckon it has something to do with the choreography of the TV performance, but is it a must to do or can I leave it to the game to decide for me?

Yeah, choreography. The different moves are categorized by Dance, Visual, Vocal and give you a boost in that area if you don't feel like doing the stat games. If you prefer the normal dance though just raising the stats and changing your items is enough; the auditions aren't especially hard.

Kinda makes me wish I hadn't preordered it, considering I spent $60 on it and don't play it nearly as often as I do SP. :s

I can't take pics from my DS, but if you look in the back of the 876 office (if you don't own it, watch the start of Dearly Station), you'll see a picture of Sophie with the Tales of Graces logo on it.
