How does America handle stuff like this?

From my times spent in the Great Wikipedian Archives, I know that a children's picture book handling issues about same-sex marriage got bashed by the PTA and Christian moms in the US.

I am comparing a DS game to a children's picture book, because kids these days read The Very Hungry Caterpillar while playing Contra on the DS.
