The whole "fuck my previous job I'm gonna become a pop idol" thing gets a little silly, but stranger things have happened in real life.

You need to remember that some of them had to quit their jobs even before having the idea of becoming idols. Take Tsubasa as an example. He needed to quit because he legit got PTSD thanks to having a troublesome flight (which is honestly one of the most realistic and well-handled examples of drama in im@s, SideM in general has really good bg stories tbh), and that’s because he could’ve ended with the lives of a lot of people who were on that flight. S.E.M’s reasons are the silliest ones, but S.E.M itself is a p silly unit (and one of the most amazing ones! ♡) so it goes well with them lol.

suzushinayuriko:
The transition from freelance lawyer to idol was a bit jarring, but I do agree it applies to SEM more than anyone else. SEM's a bit too wacky for me. But I can see why people find them endearing, plus they add a lot of variety to the cast.

Tsubasa's episode was fantastic, actually. I like that the "yellow/green idol" drama was early on, not dragged out, and actually pretty heartbreaking and relatable.

Yui:
That last episode was nice. HighXJoker worked well.

BTW, looks like they kept the "idol concept". I mean, that thing that was mentioned in the first anim@s. For Miki, is someone who can shine. For Chihaya, is someone who can bring hope. For Haruka, a dream.

For now, we have:

- a hero of justice;
- someone who wants to be the best (but of course, there's something hidden and we'll know soon);
- a person who wanted to "see another view";
- a teacher wanting to guide his students (which sounds pretty noble actually), and other 2 that decided to go with him;
- a group of students wanting to enjoy their youth;
- former soccer players wanting to entertain the people (like they did while playing soccer).

As for Pierre and others, I still didn't get it.

suzushinayuriko:
Well, there's the drama for the season. When Kaoru and Teru went off doing solo work and P asked Tsubasa what he was going to do, I had a brief moment of deja vu and was internally screaming TSUBASA NOOOO DON'T GO INTO THE UZUKI SPIRAL OF DEPRESSION. That might also have been brought on by this Tsubasa Utau cover of S(mile)ing!. But it seems like that won't be a thing, so I'm relieved.

The drama ball returned to the "cool" character, it looks like. I predict that Slightly Bitchier Chihaya: Doctor Edition will eventually overwork himself and collapse. Really wouldn't mind Jupiter calling him out on his behavior, either.

At first, he just said he want to be the best. Then, he said he want to be the best for money. Great, but there's clearly more. Surely, we'll know his concepts soon enough. But the way he questions his producer leave traces of despair.
