Even in the first episode of the anime she says that they're too complicated for her when Haruka tries to explain how they come in different size. Now I wonder how she listened to so much music during the show. Maybe she learned how to use them, but they didn't show it.
I imagine the exchange went something like this.
P: ... So, like Chihaya. You do this to scroll through your music. See, you go to the Music folder, then you scroll the wheel...
(ten hours of constant guidance later)
Chihaya: Producer, I think I finally got it!
*follows memorized step-by-step instructions to play music and never deviates from them once*
(one year later)
Chihaya: Producer, I got that new music player you recommended, but I don't know how to use it.
P: ... You use it just like you use your old one?
Chihaya: I still don't get it. Do you plug your headphones in the same way? ;_;
P: ... And another ten hours down the drain...
