Since iM@S has expanded so much over the years I thought it'd be helpful to have a thread to explain things like slang, injokes, fan culture, etc.

Even if you're a new fan or an older fan there's always more to learn and discover.

DD - Short for 誰でも大好き (Daredemo Daisuki), someone who can say... be a fan of Idolmaster, Love Live, AKB, Tokyo 7th Sisters, and Aikatsu. Don't really have a single oshi or favorite unit, you're just a fan of everybody.

A few live terms:

UO- Ultra Orange, a type of psyllium stick used during lives that is a super bright orange. Typically reserved for all star songs or your favorite songs.

Dera (DeraNanNan)- A store in Akihabara that sells penlights and UOs among other idol goods

Buppan- Good sales, typically occurs the day before the live. Various goods are sold such as t-shirts, towels, pamphlets, etc.

I'll be adding more stuff to this thread as it comes to me. There's so much iDOLM@STER stuff that's happened over the years it's a lot to remember all at once. w

... Which reminds me, and this is from hearsay, but I have reason to believe it's all true.

I think it was last year at one of the winter concerts, a guy was flailing around one of those hefty lights like a good fan until it slipped out of his hand and whacked a speaker. Speaker died, or something close to it, and he turned into a bad fan.

Whatever, it was pretty big and caused some technical failure or something. Later, Im@s concerts banned any lights except those that use those button batteries, which is what the 10th anniversary lights used.

Lights still do slip outta people's hands (sometimes before the concert even begins!), so... it's hard since you'll be sweating so much, but try and watch it. If you've got a reusable one, slip a wrist strap on it and use it! And since you're sweating so much, take it from me - rinse your lights when you're done with them or your sweat will crystallize into salt, potentially corroding anything near it (especially paper goods).

Looks like the Mix Penla lights use those button batteries, but most King Blades don't. Both of them are LED based lights, and come in versions that have multiple colors on the same light you can cycle through. The latest King Blade (the X10III) can even be programmed with what colors you want. From what I understand, single color versions are also sold.

The other type of light, the chemical ones, are like the UOs. You crack 'em and the insides snap (not the outsides, don't worry they don't spill), then they burn pretty bright for a few minutes then fade.

I've also heard this story, and it's not hard to believe because King Blades are a lot bigger than penlas. I've also heard a few stories about king blades slipping out of peoples hands and off of balconies. Yikes!
That's why you should USE YOUR WRIST STRAP. Seriously, all the penlights have wrist straps.

Speaking of UOs again, I heard this story about someone at another live watching the guy next to them crack the UOs in their mouth during a live. Please do not do this!
It's also kind of rude/awkward to crack a UO by smashing it on the chair in front of you, so I've heard from Azu.

If UOs are made from the same stuff American glowsticks are made from, putting them anywhere near your mouth is an awful idea, speaking from experience (I was 8 and stupid). Seriously, don't do this, unless you want one of the worst tastes ever + glowstick juice practically everywhere.

At the 10th a dudes behind me kept dropping their UOs behind my seat. On both days, heh. I handed one back that rolled onto my foot. I wasn't sure if was his but, hey, it was still glowing!

Now, this is interesting - this guy makes his own glow sticks! In short, glow sticks are made with chemical soup, florescent dye, and hydrogen peroxide in a glass vial. When you crack the glow stick, the hydrogen peroxide is released, reacting with the chemical soup and creating energy. The florescent dye, being around this energy, then generates colored light. Without it, all that happens is that the chemical soup + hydrogen peroxide gets all hot.

Yuko carries around seven psychic implements with her at all times.
Apparently, the beer Yuki drinks at ball games is the best in the world.
Saori can go on and on about the taste of different kinds of rice.
Yukari has fallen asleep to the sound of her own flute.
Chinatsu likes the spot where her hair parts.
Haruna has a special pair of glasses she wears when she goes to sleep.
Natalia's father coachs a soccer team.
Honoka ends up stretching everywhere.

Mizuki... can stop the ebb and flow of time (is what it says).
Every summer and winter, Hina arranges her schedule like her life depends on it.
Anastasia wants to discover a star and name it one day.
Yuka gets extremely embarrassed when her twin tails are removed.
Noriko's favorite cushion has a gaping hole in the middle of it.
Behind Koume's shelf of horror movies... lies another shelf...
Riina actually has pretty good ears. She tries not to let sound leak out of her headphones when she's listening to them.
Akane's best swim stroke is butterfly.
When she's walking around on sunny days, Shuko chooses any path that keeps her in the shade if at all possible.
In the same closet where she keeps her cat ears, Miku keeps an album of all the photos with her childhood self together with cats.
Chieri breaks out in tears when watching animal videos.

With this week's TGS event we got HaraHaracombi which is because Takane and Mio's VAs both have the last name Hara.

Speaking of Mio's VA here's the reason her nickname is Meshiya (飯屋).
When she appeared as a guest on dereraji 31 when it came time to decide her nickname she said she'd like "Messiah" but was given "SayuSayu". Then in later corner she said her wish was for "Producers to call her Messiah!". And then a bunch of comments replied "Meshiya? (eating house)" and it stuck.
