Tokyo Xanadu (PS Vita)
« on: August 23, 2015, 12:50:20 am »

Tokyo Xanadu is an upcoming ARPG by Nihon Falcom, set to be published for PlayStation Vita over in Japan near the end of next month. (No word yet on if/when it might get localized.)

A recent 5-minute trailer was posted for it, as noted here.

I mention this game here since its in-game idol group, SPiKA, has an Idolm@ster echo of sorts: three of its five members are voiced by Im@s alums, and one of those three (the only one of the five who is available as a playable character) might look somewhat familiar...

Apologies for double posting so soon after this thread was created, but I was asked elsewhere about the other Im@s connection(s) to SPiKA:

As noted here, Rion herself is voiced by Manami Numakura, who of course voices Chibiki (and her non-puchi counterpart). Although her design seems to have more of a Mika vibe about her, in my view.

These are the other two members voiced by Im@s alumni: Haruna (the one on the right) is voiced by Aya Suzaki (AKA Minami Nitta), while Reika (on the left) is voiced by Ayaka Suwa (who also voices Matsuri Tokugawa).

So that makes one "original" Im@s voice, one from CG, and one from ML.

So far as I'm aware, the VAs for Wakaba (Ari Ozawa) and Akira (Mutsumi Tamura) have not appeared in any Im@s-related media as of yet.

Falcom will be releasing a mini-album with three of SPiKA's in-game songs - one of which is reported to be the theme song for a show-within-a-game, Mahou Shoujo: Magical Alisa. (A sample of another song, Seize the Day, is in the recent five-minute game trailer.)

Looks kind of interesting. I really like the character designs.

I'm guessing it's probably pretty likely this will get localized. They've been really generous with all the localizations lately for the Sony consoles.
And if it doesn't... you can nearly bet money that there will be an English version available in China. Hooray for Region Free!

The problem with these games are that I always compare them to Devil May Cry. It's unfair, I know.

Character designs are great and the models look good, but some of the animations look a little meh. I think I might wait and see.

The game will include three mini-games - including one featuring the aforementioned Mahou Shoujo Magical Alisa.

Oh.
Pyonkichi is in this too.

Okay, I must get this to support her, if a ps4 version were to come out.

You mean Haruka Yamazaki? There's a page on the official site where she says a few words about her character, Mitsuki Hokuto.

I like the character designs a lot. I'm getting a kinda Devil Survivor vibe from the game itself, which is rad. I might give it a try if it comes stateside.

A couple of gameplay clips have been posted.

(Is there any way to embed videos on this forum, or has that been disabled?)

EDIT: And a third, too.
