Yukibro:
1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?

My first unwitting experience of iM@S was WAY back in 2009. I only know that because this is still around. I never even knew about MMD videos or Nico until 2011/2012, but even worse was hearing Kiramekirari in the anime after somehow not hearing it from anything other than that video. I had a huge double-take then.

From there, I didn't pay much attention until late 2011, back when SP Perfect Sun was translated and the anime was finishing its course. I knew of the anime, but I preferred to play the game before doing anything else, so I grabbed SP and gave it a shot. I remember picking Haruka, using Positive as her first song, and numerous translation mistakes where Hibiki's name was translated into Echo. But then I eased off that and didn't do anything with the series until sometime around May 2012. It's been a ride since then.

2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? If so, which is your favorite?

Oh, let me break this one down.

SP: My first iM@S experience and probably my most favorite of all. I still like the tension and character systems the most out of any of the games I've played, and it's one of the times where I felt like strategizing how to approach auditions and festivals. It's also not a game I even finished completely, having only done Chihaya and Yukiho's translated routes, but my playthroughs stuck with me.

iM@S2: I think it lost its magic when I was easily able to game its mechanics and clear games with minimal effort, but I did like the differences in play regarding bursts and appeals. It's just not something that I'd really play again, especially due to the mandatory events and rereading I'd have to do.

OFA: Better than iM@S2, worse than SP. I do like where they're going with the RPG-like mechanics, and its difficulty is more approachable and reminds me of SP with how it makes you think. At the same time, it fatigued the hell out of me running through my current 150-hour playthrough, and there's a notable lack of big consequences due to the infinitely running nature of the game. It'll be interesting to see where iM@S goes from here.

SF/STV: Simple rhythm games. Nothing more, nothing less. I like it enough because it's iM@S, but I'd sooner play something like Taiko (thanks for the crossover, by the way!).

G4U is also there, but is it really a game? Can't really comment. My lack of a 360 means I can't comment on its games, my lack of good Japanese language understanding prevents me from commenting on DS, and the arcade game... yeah.

3. Which idol is your favorite and why?

Yukiho. I admit I can almost go all over 765 as far as interest and likability go, but in the end it will always come down to Yukiho. She's the one I sorta remember wanting to play as when I first came across SP, then disappointed to find out she wasn't in the game that was translated. And even after the tenuous portrayal the anime gave her, I still found myself attached to her unlike most other characters I've liked. This culminated in me working on a project to translate her iM@S2 route, collecting as much info and songs from her as possible, creating a slightly-unsuccessful reason to try learning Japanese that still allowed me to keep up with her stories to date, and actually buying merch when I really don't like buying merch.

I'll leave the more detailed and in-depth spiel for another thread.

4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?

What first comes to mind is First Step. Naryoril already commented on it, but I have to personally say that it sealed whatever got me attached to Yukiho on the spot. It's a beautiful song that always gets to me with its heart and passion.

But if I were to pick anything else other than sentimental favorites... hm. Not really sure. Massugu, maybe? Mana speaks for me there too, since I also think it evokes that bittersweet feeling of moving away but also forward. Special mentions to the Famison albums, though, they're killer.

5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?

Connectivity, more or less. Without going too deep into it, what I like most from playing the iM@S games above (particularly SP) is the way it allows you to get interested in your idol and shape something with her. Whether it's to build her confidence, help her reach her dreams, or just be someone to talk to, I think there's something important with how each girl grows from each experience and conversation. The music is great too, of course, and that plays its part as a reason why all the effort is worth it in the end.

But of course, it comes down to characters in the end. It wouldn't be worth investing all this time and effort into 765 if I didn't like its characters.

6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?

I guess around the end of 2012? That was when I was really starting to do things I wouldn't have done with other series.

7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.

Nope. Honestly don't care to, either. I'm not really a concert guy, and the toll a trip to Japan would put on me, let alone the stories of waiting on lines or gambling for a ticket in the first place... yeah. Hopefully I could visit Japan soon, but I'll probably settle for a cafe visit or playing the arcade game.

8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?

Nope. Tried ML once when it came out, and I wondered why people bothered. Haven't touched either since, neither games nor other media. I'm just not interested.

9. Have you watched the 2011 series or Cinderella Girls anime? If so, what are your thoughts?

The 2011 anime was probably my gateway into the series, but it's only gotten worse and worse in my perspective over time. I haven't bothered with CG's anime, either, see above.

10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?

Azumin, I guess? I am more interested in her than others from iM@S, and I did follow iM@S STATION every Sunday back when they weren't behind Premium walls, but even she wasn't enough to make me watch Chuuni's second season. Seiyuu don't particularly matter to me anyway, though I enjoy watching their skits every now and then.

11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!

Eh.

ChocoCats:
1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?

I first learned about it through that NND medley video on Youtube. I was like "Ooh, that's interesting.", and then, I watched gameplay videos of L4U performances. Later on, the games are starting to get dull, so I'm just listening to the music.

2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? If so, which is your favorite?

No and I have little interest on playing them.

3. Which idol is your favorite and why?

Makoto because tomboys and lovely voice.

4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?

I tend to like the rocks, calm and soothing, and other songs with an interesting composition and arrangement.

5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?

Music and a bit of inside jokes.

6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?

August 2013. Fan came way before I become a "Producer".

7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.

Nope and I don't think my family would allow me to go to Japan because of personal reasons.

8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?

Haha, no. Not gonna bother messing my phone and play P2W games. Doesn't help that the a lot of artwork are laddened with Otaku pandering fanservice. At least SideM keeps it relatively tame and I found other ways to tolerate the mobile franchises.

9. Have you watched the 2011 series or Cinderella Girls anime? If so, what are your thoughts?

I watched the 2011 series and I found it mediocre as crud. I'm currently watching the Cinderella Girls anime and while it had the same problems as the 2011, it had a couple of interesting points that I liked more than what the 2011 anime showed. However, I recommended on watching the CG anime ONLY if you're curious and actually and genuinely interested in CG because otherwise don't bother.

10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?

There's Naomi Wakabayashi for her performances and dedication and the SideM cast are very fun, especially the DS trio and Takatsuka Tomohito. The drawings fascinates me for some reason.

11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!

woot...

Best Idle:
1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?
The first time I noticed iDOLM@STER would be in the beginning of Nico Nico Douga, and then I saw it frequently mentioned as the reason that the Berserk manga was released so slowly. When the 2011 anime was announced, a few people on /a/ said that it would be good, so I started watching it and ended up becoming a huge Haruka fan.

2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? If so, which is your favorite?
I've played OFA, SP Perfect Sun, Shiny TV, G4U. I love OFA the most by far, as I can play with all the idols working together, it has better graphics and Haruka's 2nd vision is better than the first, and I don't get pressured to try and make everything perfect since there's no time limit. When I played SP, getting anything less than perfect really frustrated me since I felt like I was letting Haruka down, but in OFA I can achieve perfection in the end so it's great. Haruka also acts a bit more mature and sweet in 2nd vision which is closer to my "ideal" vision of Haruka.

3. Which idol is your favorite and why?
Haruka. I love her since she is kind and happy person. The version of Haruka I love most is the one from the 2011 anime, although I like and incorporate many elements of Haruka from other materials as well.

Haruka is amazingly kind, and my two favorite examples of this are her arc from episodes 23-24 of the anime, and her interactions with Kana in the movie. In the anime, Haruka is conflicted because she is worried that her friends consider success as an idol more important than getting together, and due to her considerate nature, she doesn't tell them because she doesn't want to burden them with her own personal desires. In the end, she realizes that her friends want the same thing that she does, so she happily goes out to meet them. I really love Haruka's consideration of her friends despite her sadness, even if her thoughts were misplaced and she needed a while to realize that.

In the movie, I was very impressed by Haruka's willingness to stand up to the group in order to bring Kana back. I think it takes a tremendous amount of courage and kindness to take this sort of risk and insist on reaching out to Kana even when everyone else seemed ready to move on. The scene where Haruka is confronted by Shiho and confidently asserts her decision was particularly touching. There are countless other reasons I love Haruka, but these two scenes stand out as being the most exceptional.

I also love Haruka's general cheerfulness. I really like being able to do things like take people out to a restaurant or amusement park or whatever and having them really enjoy themselves. However, I'm not that good at this and when people complain and have a lousy time, it hurts me a lot as well. But, I think Haruka is so naturally happy that she will tend to enjoy things even if they aren't really that great, and so I really want to take her to do all sorts of things.

Haruka is really an idol to me, as I wish to be with her and be more like her as well. Thinking about her helps me make a lot of difficult life decisions. Even though Haruka only exists as a fictional representation and in my mind, she is truly extremely precious to me.

4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?
"Suteki Happiness". The lyrics are about Haruka's goal of sharing happiness with everyone, and I realized that I really love that goal as well. So in some sense, this song exemplifies what I love most about Haruka, and reminds me of what I want to do with my life. It's a really important song to me. It's also extremely cute, particularly when she says "motto motto motto~".

Some of my other favorite songs are Kirameki Shinkoukei, Christmas Eve, Saihyou, Kazoe Uta, TOMORROW, START!!, and Jitensha.

5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?
Of course, it's Haruka. Aside from that, the characters in general, the 2011 anime, and the IDOLM@STER manga by Mana.

6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?
I don't really think of myself as a literal "Producer" since I'm not very good at that sort of work. However, I've been a fan since starting the 2011 anime, and got extremely into it by maybe the 4th episode.

7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.
I have not, though I would like to go someday.

8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?
I played CG for a while with /@/, and tried out ML but decided not to get into it further due to the necessary time investment.

9. Have you watched the 2011 series or Cinderella Girls anime? If so, what are your thoughts?
I've watched the 2011 series many times, and am watching the CG anime too. I prefer the characterization of Haruka in the 2011 anime to the games as previously stated. The CG anime is alright, though without 765 it loses a lot of appeal. I like the CG Producer, Uzuki, and Miku.

10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?
I like Eriko for voicing Haruka, and I like Rie for her other roles, but I don't have a significant interest in seiyuu aside from liking their characters.

11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!
春香~大好き!! I'll always be your fan!

Cael K.:
... Sure, I'll bite.

1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?

Back when I still used PlayAsia to get stuff, I remember seeing an ad for Boxm@s. I thought at the time that I'd play it if it wasn't hinging on just character design, but I didn't have too much of a way to tell. 'Least, not at that time. I think I knew soon enough that it was the only game keeping the XBox afloat in Japan with all its DLC.

Fast forward... maybe a few months. One of my friends shows me, uh, Live For You? Maybe it was Xenoglossia? I can't remember really, but both of those were my first Im@s experiences. That got me interested, and when I heard the music, that was it. There was a good variety of it, and while some of it was better than others, some of it was pretty good. And that's when I became a fan. I think it was... early 2008? It could've been late 2007.

2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? If so, which is your favorite?

Yes. Oh yes. SP remains my favorite, though what I played of OFA was pretty good. I enjoyed DS too, though I took it more as a visual novel than as a rhythm game.

I've also played Arcadem@s (once, to get the producer card), Boxm@s, Shiny Festa, Cinderella Girls... is that it? I think it is.

3. Which idol is your favorite and why?

Azusa, because she's such a good person - considerate, gentle, kind, not pushy even when she's mad... it's hard to find a single ounce of bad attitude in her. If her only bad character trait is that she's airheaded, well... that's not a fault of a bad moral compass.

4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?

Oh geez. You want me to pin this one down to a single song? No way I can do that. So I'll list a few that are my favorites.

Tonari ni..., my song, Sora - My favorite type of songs are largely in the Vocal category. They don't sound good at all if the singer doesn't have good fundamentals, but Takahashi and Takita have really great voices.
Little Match Girl, DREAM - I also like the techno dance beat songs and stuff.
Jitensha - A really upbeat song, I like the melody and I like its flow.
Mahou wo Kakete - First song I ever produced.

Most of my favorite songs come from the SP era.

5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?

It was the music that got me into Im@s, but the fan community is what I think is really amazing. People've come from all sorts of angles to really make their own Im@s experience, and some of them even go out and make doujin to share their own vision of it with the rest of us. Heck, some even make music videos.

The fan community is so alive and active, it makes stuff... incredible stuff, for no other reason than to do it. And that's nothing short of awesome.

6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?

I'm pretty sure the first Im@s game I played was SP, and I got it just in time for Chiaki Takahashi to come to Anime Central in 2009, so I'd say that's when I became a Producer. I think Boxm@s and L4U came after that in 2010, when I went to Japan.

Before that, I'd only had exposure to Xenoglossia and a bit of gameplay from the games. Nothing too much, but enough to... I guess be called a fan. That was back in late 2007 or early 2008.

7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.

Only once, and it was great. I went to the 10th concert last month. I had a great time, and met a few other kaigai Ps while I was at it.

I lined up for Friday buppan on quite literally the third train in (I didn't stay close enough to make the first), so I got there, what, 6:20? I still got everything I wanted, was out of the line at around 13:00, all with just one half liter bottle of Pocari (though the weather sure helped for that).

After the live though, I was busy prepping for a tour of the western side of Japan, so I put the lights back in the box without doing anything else with them. When I got back (and this seems to be a recurring theme this trip), some of the stuff in there had salt on it! I was sweating so much, my burning passion infused itself to those lights and crystallized into pure white crystals!

... I still gave them a good rinsing when I found out, but the salt stains are still on some of the paper stuff inside the box.

Nobody here was at the Great 10th Anniversary Producer Card Exchange Meet, though! ... Well okay, there was a Day 2 that I didn't go to, but I only run into one kaigai P there, and he wasn't anyone from the forums. I still went through a bunch of P cards.

8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?

I kinda pop in Cinderella Girls from time to time. I wish there were another way to get into Million Live besides the mobile game though. I'd kinda like to know more about the characters, but seeing as I don't really play the mobile games too much...

9. Have you watched the 2011 series or Cinderella Girls anime? If so, what are your thoughts?

Both! I'm not caught up on the second season of the Cinderella Girls anime though. Anim@s 2011 was pretty good, and the Cinderella Girls anime is kinda nice. I kinda woulda liked a bit more... canonical background to some of the characters, but I think they're kinda afraid of inventing too much about them, fearing it will become canon. I mean, I think all the doujin artists and stuff'll still have a heyday no matter, so I don't see the harm if they did.

10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?

Well, Chiaki Takahashi and Juri Takita have really good singing voices, and I'm glad that the series takes newer seiyuu and gives them a chance. I'm not too much of a seiyuu otaku, though.

... Although Saori Hayami (Kaede Takagaki) is a great voice actress.

11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!

CINDERELLA GIRLS ANIME, MORE BASEBALL AND CLASSY ACCENTS PLEASE!

... *ahem*

DeviantProtagonist:
Considering I've addressed a good bulk of these inquires in the anniversary thread, I'll make do with however straight-forward I can be.

1. How did you first learn about “The iDOLM@STER”? What were your first impressions?

To sum up, it's an incidental thing where upon I watched one anime, it led to another which was iM@S, given favored seiyuu connections.

2. Have you played any of the idolm@ster games? If so, which is your favorite?

Having played iM@S2, OfA and several G4U volumes, I'd deem any 765 game a favourite, but let's just say G4U because gravure~. のワの

3. Which idol is your favorite and why?

I delved into this, but my Chihaya fondness came from a mutual empathy which extent most wouldn't think I'd have beyond fanboy norm.

4. What is your favorite idolm@ster song and why?

I'm generally open for genres, but 'cool, edgy, suggestive' songs rate highly in my books -- think of Little Match Girl and Fate of the World.

5. What’s your favorite aspect of the idolm@ster series?

For this being a common toss-up between characters and song, I'm inclined for the former because they're the ones bringing song to life.

6. When and how did you become a “Producer”? That is, when did you consider yourself an idolm@ster fan?

Suffice to say, I became one the instant I indulged in our idol's passions, whether by watching anime, reading manga, or playing a game.

7. Have you ever been to an idolm@ster live concert? Please share your experience or any particularly special memories if so.

I haven't, and at this rate there's no reason to expect I'd be able to; the astronomical costs and the very idea of flying are big obstacles.

8. Do you play any of the mobile game series such as Cinderella Girls and Million Live?

I'll give this a flat nope, one reason being that I dare not jailbreak my phone and the other is that I despise the mobile pay-to-win model.

9. Have you watched the 2011 series or Cinderella Girls anime? If so, what are your thoughts?

Despite it's gradual flaws, iM@S 2011 made a fine entryway for me. CG's first season hasn't often did it favors, but I'm still for it's prosper.

10. Do you have any favorite seiyuu related to the idolm@ster series?

My Imai affection's a given, but I'll just say her Slowpoke obsession is adorable. Wakabayashi's the charitable kind of woman I'd wed, too.

11. Shout out your love about the idolm@ster series, say anything you’d like!

Flat is justice-u~! Just because I'm horrible with one-liners.
