The "Game Titles You Can't Remember" Thread.
DeviantProtagonist:
On a whim, I was reflecting on all the classic games I used to play, yet there was bound to be stuff muddled in the unknown. I'm sure people were fond of something, but cannot for the life of them remember what it's even called.
Things like this certainly go way back. So for those with such memory fragments, let's make that nostalgia the point of discussion here.
Granted, this concept seems niche in that it deals with mostly obscure stuff, but hell if it isn't nice to reminisce. Bonus points if someone does happen to rekindle the entirety of said memories! Henceforth, I'll start with this old PC game:
---
You're a futuristic soldier in a FPS. Your operations are clandestine as in one mission you and your squadmates are sortied onto an island forest. Your objective was to weave through said terrain along with the considerable and hostile military presence there -- these guys were often jacked up with armored patrols and sniper towers. Not really something to fuck with often, so whether you did this with or without casualties was all on you.
What's even worse is the presence of extraterrestrials -- these were portrayed as massive, tan-colored arachnids which are very silent, yet very unsettling as they approach you even in broad sight. Had to stay clear of their nests, especially. From what I could tell, they're animalistic as they'd slaughter anyone. Getting through all that, you infiltrated a compound and destroyed the satellite dish supplementing enemy coms. Cue the escape.
What made this game stand out is that not only were the visuals remarkable, but it employed natural elements that engrossed the player. Things like this include a day/night setting, squadmate commands/commentary/remaining-dead-if-killed along with convincing stealth like ghillie suit use. In regards to the aliens? Fucking terrifying to the point you'd dread trying to flank the enemy military even if it's to your favor. Very, very atmospheric.
Two weapons I was particularly fond of was a flaregun -- with which you could lure passive aliens to enemy units -- and laserwire mines, something you'd see out of Duke Nukem 3D. :3

Kinda reminds me of Codename: Outbreak, but IIRC it were small facehugger-like alien parasites that took control of enemy military troops. Not sure if there were any bigger alien enemies - actually mostly I played the multi on LAN with my cousin. Don't remember a flare gun, but I -think- there were laser mines. Also, if it can help, one thing that was different from other FPS games was the fact that you could have only one gun, but it was multipurpose instead of separate ones - you could switch the mode from rifle to shotgun et cetera (there were like, 3 models with varrying amounts of modes).

I remember my brother and I owning two games on the Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedghog and some robot boxing/fighting game. My memory of it is incredibly foggy since I was, like, four at the time, but I clearly remember that being one of the few Genesis games we've played and I have never seen it ever since.

Heavy Nova? Cyborg Justice?

I'm not too sure. Maybe? Again, memory is REALLY foggy.
