I think it's mostly because of their primary gimmicks. (opinions incoming, and as someone who doesn't like those three)

Kana's is that she's tone deaf, and while I can see a massive underdog appeal from that aspect, it doesn't work for me. (I know there's other aspects to Kana besides this, but it still makes me question how she managed to become an idol to begin with if she's as bad as described)
If you mean ML!Akane, then I think her gimmick (being annoyingly cute) has gone horribly right. CG!Akane I'm so neutral on it hurts.
Anzu, well... her gimmick is that she's a NEET, and she's not exactly getting character development to be rid of it. I may not like Miki all that much as a character, but she at least has some character development and other traits beyond "okay she's lazy."

Pretty much what Virgofall said. I never liked Kana in the first place and I find her tone deaf voice grating. I have no problems with CG Akane, but not so much for ML's. Characters like Anzu should never exist, especially if they're not going to develop as a character (unless the anime changes that).

I do see where you're coming from with those three, but I have some slight rebuttals.

Kana, I think, does have a lot of appeal for me with her underdog aspect. Plus, she may be tone deaf, but it is sometimes overexaggerated since in her LTP song, she gave a pretty decent performance. Not exactly anything amazing, but it's not bad for somebody supposedly tone-deaf.
ML Akane is one of the few ML characters I'm not exactly fond of. Her annoyingly cute demeanor is exactly what it is. Annoying. It seems like she tries too hard to be adorable when other characters can actually be cuter naturally. CG Akane I sometimes forget even exists and that should sum up my opinions toward her.
I heard Anzu was getting SOME character development recently, what with her newer cards showing that she's starting to like her job and some people assume that some of Kirari's Happy-Happy Energy is rubbing off on her. I guess we'll wait for the anime to see if they do anything with Anzu.

I like Anzu. ;)  Her voice is funny to listen to and she is SUPER lazy. It makes her unique comparing to all other idols: everyone works hard to became popular but she wants to play games and watch animes all day long. ;D  In addition, Anzu has an "AGENT yoru wo iku" reference in her song!

I stuck with 765, ML and DS. I never really got into CG. Also, it's kind of difficult for me to put my 765 bias aside. I love them. xD
