I'm new to IDOLM@STER!
« on: January 06, 2015, 01:56:46 pm »
Hello everyone! Very happy to meet all of you!
I have a lot of hobbies, mostly involving watching stuff, playing games and making graphic designs.

I've always wanted to be a part of the IM fanbase, but I'm not exactly sure where to start.
I've seen some, if not most of the IM music videos and stuff.
My particular favorite video is the WHO PUT THE BOP one, even though they didn't really sing it.

So what and where's the best way to get started with IM?

Welcome to the im@s fandom ;)

I second what liza said, the idolm@ster anime is a good start.
One thing to note there: Some characters are exaggerated compared to the games (Yukiho for example), and many get the short end of the stick in terms of screentime (basically everyone except for Haruka, Chihaya and Miki). In the games all characters get the same treatment when they are producable (so not for Hibiki, Takane and Miki in SP, not for Azusa, Iori, Ritsuko and one of the twins in im@s 2)

In terms of games i suggest the newest one: The Idolm@ster One For All, if you have a PS3. The game can be played without knowing Japanese, but understanding the visual novel parts adds a lot to it and especially the characters.

I agree with both liza and Nayoril. The anime is a good starting point for getting into the franchise. Its what got me into the series, even though some people really don't like it. I think its a good starting point because it gives a basic overview of who everyone is and is easy to find with English subtitles if you don't know Japanese.

I totally got into im@S because of m@ds as well. Watching m@ds made me want to play the game and then years later the anime series came out finally!

If you have decent to semi-decent Japanese skills I recommend the games! They're super fun!

Everyone's made great suggestions already, so I'll just say... welcome to the forums!

Oh, and your particular favorite video is funny, especially Yukiho playing a shovel like a guitar. ^-^
