Getting people into the imas series

The only person I've been able to convert to liking Idolm@ster is my boyfriend, but even he is only interested in the anime. Most anyone else I try to get into it just looks at it as "oh its basically k-on with idols and k-on is shit" no matter how I try to explain that the series is NOT like k-on and has much more depth. As far as the games go, none of my friends import games and also none of them like raising sim type games so I can't even get them to play the fantranslated PSP games.
