Over my time browsing here I've noticed that there's many older posters with a lot of posts that don't post here anymore. It seems the forum activity peaked around when idolmaster 2 was released. Was there a particular reason that the activity has declined since then?

Most of them moved on to social networks like FB, Twitter, and other blogging services.
I'm friends IRL with one of our very old members who I met through the forum. She no longer goes on here though and the only way we see each other is when we have doll events in my town.

Other than her, I'm friends with several older non-active members on Twitter and I know the FB community is pretty huge too.

In my case it's simply the fact that I've been inundated by a lot of things, and consequently had to let go of managing any sort of OfA community (the youtube channel that's been closed was a source of people coming in apparently).

I'd like to restart it all up, but as it is, I'm incredibly shorthanded because of:

1) Long term medical effects. I'm still trying to reset life after yet another medical setback, which I will have to live with for the rest of my life.

2) Project focus - I'm in the final stages of getting all my stuff ready to pitch a book series. I don't talk about much of my non-im@s work, then again, most people don't really know about my im@s preferences. I'd kill for people to read and provide feedback of course, and given how it's easier to talk people into taking voluntary brain surgery with a chainsaw than it is to get them to voluntarily read a book, murder might be on the cards either way.

One of the people who's been covering for me has also been helping me as well.

3) Compendium updates - I can now make progress towards updating from Catalog 1 to Catalog 4 (50000 yen later...), but due to a significant amount of refit required and the fact Crisu is quite busy with his work and what I stated above, neither of us are in a position to actively do things.

Most people don't knock on my door, which is sort of strange, considering how the tool is used, but I sort of understand, mostly because for some reason (probably due to how I present myself) I come across as a very private person.

I'd LIKE to, of course, but I'm terrible at everything it seems.

Ah right I forgot about social media as I'm not particularly fond of it nor use it. I still think forums like these or boards with topics are better for actual discussion.

I was actually thinking about this the other day...

I think imas2 inspired a ton of discussion/debates. It redid the graphics style and redesigned some characters, introduced male idols which went down HORRIBLY with some fans, made Iori and Azusa, who seem to be pretty popular in the Western fandom, unproduceable, and marked Azumin's first time playing Yukiho. It doesn't seem so now, but when it was released imas 2 was pretty darn controversial. Of course, people on any forum like to voice their opinions. That's why I think it was a popular time for this forum.

Doh ho ho~, let's not forget the whole 360-to-PS3 exclusivity scandal in regards to iM@S2. I may not've been around for that nor even had a working 360, but I know for sure that's ripe for controversy.
Suddenly, bow-wow-wow~. :3

I've had spurts of activity. I keep most of my discussion on twitter since it's just more convenient.
