I guess I should elaborate on my personal views on it. In general, having fanservice in the game is perfectly a-okay. I know that these girls are idols. Celebrity Singers. They pretty much HAVE to show off a little T&A at SOME point. It's kinda part of the job description. The worry here is that ML seems to do it TOO much. As in, every other batch of cards has about one or two cards that are pretty fanservice-y. It's kinda crazy. :P

In fact the only reason why I continue to play is the social aspect.

Where do you think we are?
For many of us, social isn't really something we either a) have, or b) care about. The series has never been about social anything outside of leaderboards. Sure, it can stray from the tried and true formula, such as Shiny Festa, and DS, but look at the reception towards those as well.

ZetaFlare:
To be honest, this thread scares me.

I haven't actually seen or played the mobile games so I have no idea about their gameplay. Heck, I don't even have a mobile device (at the moment)! I know I've fallen for the cuteness of some of the CGs gimmicks (Airi, Kanako, Anzu, Kirari, and Sachiko for example...they're pretty good for skits). I haven't paid much attention to ML at all. I always thought the ML girls were too vanilla for me until I saw more detailed descriptions, translations, and development in the ML thread.

I don't mind fanservice at all! Moe!

Many series have mobile card games these days. High School DxD (puts ML's fanservice to shame), WUG, and a bunch more I've probably never heard of. Does Love Live have one? Or am I just thinking of those cards from School Idol Festival? Still, it makes me wonder how games like Kantai Collection are so huge right now. Sure, they've got to be able to compete, right? Competition. It makes the world go round. Even the mobile world.

But what worries me is the mobile games might get more recognition than the mothership titles. I fear the original 13 might fall into the depths of obscurity compared to the mobile girls. I discovered iM@S through the main games and L4U. They are what define the series. I'm not knocking actual fans of the mobile games...I just prefer the original 13...iM@S's real color. From the comments I've seen, I just hope the mobile games don't wind up sinking the series as a whole...  :'(

Though I do admit, though, I think 876Pro's idols deserve a second chance. At least Ai and Eri do anyway.

I do see where you're coming from, dude.

Love Live does have one: School Idol Festival. The best part is, it IS available overseas with an official English translation, so it's easy to get.

I guess it just has to do with Japan's overall fascination with mobile gaming in general, which I am honestly SHOCKED that nobody mentioned. While we here in the United States just brush off mobile phones as "casual BS" and prefer to game on a home console or a dedicated gaming handheld like the 3DS or PS Vita, Japan is the opposite. They take mobile games JUST as seriously as console/handheld games over there. It's probably the biggest case of Values Dissonance I have EVER seen on this forum.

As for the mobile characters replacing the original 13..........that is DEFINITELY not gonna happen. From scrolling through here, the mobile characters are HUGE base breaking characters. People either love or hate them while the original 13 are unanimously welcomed with open arms all the time. If anything, I wanna see them co-exist. Mainly main series and ML, but CG MAYBE if they, well, clean some things up. Really, I do NOT expect a few mobile game spin-offs to weigh down a console-gaming series. It has never happened before and I doubt it will now.

876Pro should get a new game just to give them more character.

...

ML actually bothers me more, though, being the child of both Scamco and A-1 born with a silver spoon in its mouth. Whether it's due to the massive work done with ML in such short time or due to the laziness with CG, the fact that a year passed and ML has received 10+ CDs, live concerts, game DLC, and even a noticeable role in the first iM@S movie is just ridiculous to me.

This really bothers me about ML as well. Especially since i have no connection to the characters at all. All this is part of the reason why i tried to play ML, but it made things only worse for me.
