What's the best part of iDOLM@STER?
AkuAkane:
Being forced to pick two, I went with characters and games. I enjoy the games a lot (for me, that includes the music), especially since I love raising sim games. Of course I love the 765 pro girls (Well...MOST of them. Honestly can't stand Miki, but the rest are perfectly lovable to me) and I'm pretty interested in the Million Live and Cinderella Girls as well; I really can't wait to see the Cinderella Girls anime and how they develop the characters.
With anime and manga in general, for me; often the characters are the most important aspect. If I can't get really into at least a couple characters then it can be hard for me to get into a series. Its really important to me in games as well, but of course gameplay is always the most important factor to me. (well, except in most dating sims, raising sims, and vns where theres less focus on gameplay).
Of course I enjoy the music including the music outside of the games. Just earlier today I was listening to Hanakanzashi which is sung by Sae Kobayakawa and is probably my favorite song sung by any of the Cinderella Girls characters. (and Sae is one of my favorite characters from Cinderella Girls so that helps too).
Although I appreciate the Seiyuu's work I've never really been a Seiyuu fan in general. I love the Idolm@ster anime and the Puchim@s manga, but I just enjoy the games more. As far as fan culture; I love the stuff fan culture creates, but I very rarely get into fandoms so to speak.
Roswell:
Definitely the games, the idea of a game where you produce idols was super appealing to me. The music and characters came after I bought im@s 2 and started to learn all of it while playing. As ridiculous as Scamco's business plans are, the games are really fun. The produce mode speaks for itself, but the Stage 4 U aspect is what makes the games a must-have for me. Choosing units, songs, costumes, it's just so much fun. I sat around with my roommate for hours in S4U at a time because the possibilities are just endless.
And though the mobile games are less than desirable and repetitive, they do still have their own charm. I have fun playing them in bursts (the collector in me enjoys them), but they do get tiresome after a while.
