What's the best part of iDOLM@STER?

I'm in the nostalgia category too. <3 I also learned about iDOLM@STER back in '08!
For those of you who have responded "music", I can agree that the music in im@s is awesome! I think hearing that final line of Chihaya's Aoi Tori in the iDOLM@STER Arcade Trailer is what really made me want to pursue learning more about the series.
Oh and Haruka yelling, "Dome desu yo! Doooooome!"
Yui:
Okay... that's was a little hard for me. I think it is both music and characters. Well, I like J-Pop and stuffs. And I like the way iM@S combine J-Pop with many other styles.
And the characters have... things that... make me love it. (I don't how to say that.)
Oh yeah, and I was thinking about marking the fan culture. That one is a good point too.

Characters and seiyuus for me, but it was a tough call because I really love everything about iM@S. Good, bad, and so-bad-it's-good.
The characters are just so funny and relatable and cute and lovable. And the seiyuus really bring them to life. I can't imagine anyone other than Chiaking delivering that "Ara, ara~..." quite like Azusa, or Takane's mysterious, flowing, legato voice being anybody but Harami. I love them all.

Definitely agree! The characters are amazing and the seiyuus make them even more so. It'd really be hard to imagine them with anyone else. The day that happens will be a dark one, indeed.
Although another great part is the music. I really, really love iM@S music! But the best is definitely the characters.
Okayu:
It was a hard choice but I also put the characters and music. The games, while fun, are mostly a way to create performances and learn more about the characters. I've listened to iM@S music a lot for the past 3 years although that's probably an understatement considering how many tracks there are. I like how it covers various genres with different types of singers as well as has many fan selected cover songs. I do like the voice actresses and sometimes they can be interesting to watch at events but that's not the main thing that attracted me to the series although it certainly helped. The fan content is also great at times but other series fans also do similar things. I think that the strong point of this series is indeed the characters. It's enjoyable getting to learn more about them and see them interact with each other that can only be done in a way that a multimedia format supports. Of course I am only referring to the pre mobile game cast as I came to the series before any of them existed and thus they are not what made me interested in idolmaster.
