What's the best part of iDOLM@STER?
« on: July 31, 2014, 05:53:30 pm »
I posted this question to Twitter and got some interesting responses!
What do you think is the best part of the iDOLM@STER franchise? I've added more options to this version of the poll. You get 2 votes! Explain your answers.  :)

Personally, the fan culture of iDOLM@STER is what got me into the franchise in the first place, but I stayed for the games.

The music and the characters are what make IM@S interesting to me.

Characters and Music.

Having never played the games, these are what keep me attached to this series. The characters are some of the most likable characters I've seen in a fictional work as well as even somewhat relatable. The music is also pretty fantastic stuff, with multiple songs from this series being some of my favorite songs of all time.

As for me, the best parts of im@s are the Chihayas anim@s, XenoMas and the wonderful seiyuus!
I'm fond of anim@s' conception! Why can't other animes have everyone as main characters?
And I don't know any seiyuu who sings better than Mingosu, Kaorin and Chiaking!

I voted for the characters and the anime/manga. I love the music too but, for me, the anime trumps the music (it's a close call). The iDOLM@STER has characters that you can relate to and characters that you want to be friends with. The anime lets you get to know those characters well (except for some that were put on a bus); if only there were more imas anime!

I feel like you would really enjoy iDOLM@STER OFA's personal commu thing.
They're really entertaining and put the idols in situations that let you understand more about them.

(i.e. Azusa being unable to sleep because of watching a zombie horror movie, Chihaya and you trying out a tent in a store)

Yeah, I wish I could play the games. :( There's this whole other world of imas that I've only seen bits and pieces of on YouTube.

The characters and the seiyuu -- it all comes together so well and everything else is just a bonus.

Also, Asami Imai as Chihaya Kisaragi~. <3
Suddenly, bow-wow-wow~. :3

For me, it's gotta be the music and the characters! Other idol anime and games don't have the exact same "pull" that iM@S does in that category. Plus, I've liked the series since 2008 or so, so it's a little nostalgic.

I also love the outfits, so that's a plus, haha.

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC.

Well, that and the characters (for at least where 765 Pro's originals are concerned - not judging ML or CG as I don't play them), I can relate to them and for the most part, there's generally more than meets the eye on them all.
But that's still pretty far behind when compared to the music for me, as there's simply so much of it, and so much variety in it...

I'm in the nostalgia category too. <3 I also learned about iDOLM@STER back in '08!

For those of you who have responded "music", I can agree that the music in im@s is awesome! I think hearing that final line of Chihaya's Aoi Tori in the iDOLM@STER Arcade Trailer is what really made me want to pursue learning more about the series.

Okay... that's was a little hard for me. I think it is both music and characters. Well, I like J-Pop and stuffs. And I like the way iM@S combine J-Pop with many other styles.
And the characters have... things that... make me love it. (I don't how to say that.)

Oh yeah, and I was thinking about marking the fan culture. That one is a good point too.

Characters and seiyuus for me, but it was a tough call because I really love everything about iM@S. Good, bad, and so-bad-it's-good.
The characters are just so funny and relatable and cute and lovable. And the seiyuus really bring them to life. I can't imagine anyone other than Chiaking delivering that "Ara, ara~..." quite like Azusa, or Takane's mysterious, flowing, legato voice being anybody but Harami. I love them all.

Definitely agree! The characters are amazing and the seiyuus make them even more so. It'd really be hard to imagine them with anyone else. The day that happens will be a dark one, indeed.

Although another great part is the music. I really, really love iM@S music! But the best is definitely the characters.

Amami Haruka desu!

It was a hard choice but I also put the characters and music. The games, while fun, are mostly a way to create performances and learn more about the characters. I've listened to iM@S music a lot for the past 3 years although that's probably an understatement considering how many tracks there are. I like how it covers various genres with different types of singers as well as has many fan selected cover songs. I do like the voice actresses and sometimes they can be interesting to watch at events but that's not the main thing that attracted me to the series although it certainly helped. The fan content is also great at times but other series fans also do similar things. I think that the strong point of this series is indeed the characters. It's enjoyable getting to learn more about them and see them interact with each other that can only be done in a way that a multimedia format supports. Of course I am only referring to the pre mobile game cast as I came to the series before any of them existed and thus they are not what made me interested in idolmaster.
