I think this is legit, guys! X)! All in all, a good roster, even if it has some eyebrow raising choices.
Now for individual thoughts. Spoiler Marking for spoilers sake.
Veterans:
Ganondorf: WHY IS HE STILL A CAPTAIN FALCON CLONE!? For god's sake, its been three games! HE HAS A SWORD, SAKURAI! HE EVEN HAS THAT TAUNT FROM BRAWL WHERE HE PULLS OUT HIS SWORD!!!
Jigglypuff: Saw her coming. Hope she has her Rest from Melee.
Ness: Same as Jigglypuff, saw him coming. Maybe now people can finally shut up about him.
Wario: Yay, the fat greedy bastard is back! Though like the former two, his inclusion was MORE inevitable given Waluigi and Ashley as assist trophies.
Mr. Game & Watch: Hinted at in the Pac-Man trailer, so his inclusion was also inevitable.
R.O.B.: YES! THE ROBOTIC OPERATING BUDDY IS BACK! Screw the haters, R.O.B. is an AWESOME Smash Bros. character and I am SO happy he's returning!
Falco: Alright, who touched his bread? X)! In all seriousness, Falco is another inevitable return for me and I hope he keeps his Brooklyn accent in this game.
Dr. Mario: WHAT!? My initial reaction to this guy was an immediate "DAFUQ!?!?". Then I started thinking. Maybe this is their method of bringing back Mario from Melee without alienating the Mario they had in Brawl. Its kinda like the whole Jin/Devil Jin thing in Tekken. Jin's moveset got changed so heavily that Devil Jin was made with the intention of bringing back Jin's old moveset while keeping Normal Jin to his newer moveset. Its weird, but it could work. :P
Newcomers:
Shulk: Never played Xenoblade Chronicles, but he was a common request for Smash, so I feel his inclusion is perfectly justified.
Bowser Jr.: I grew to like the little guy ever since New Super Mario Bros. U, so I'm VERY happy to see him playable. The fact that he's always in his Jr. Clown Car could make for an interesting playstyle.
Dark Pit: I CALLED IT!!! I FREAKING CALLED IT! I actually legitmately predicted that Dark Pit was gonna be his own character! YES! Anyway, I see Dark Pit potentially having Pit's old Brawl moveset, as Pit went through an INSANE amount of changes for this game.
Duck Hunt Dog: ................ Yes! God yes! The inevitable "Unexpected Retro Character" of the game! This character alone has so much potential to be a really fun character, imo. He might even be one of my favorite newcomer choices so far! And for those who aren't big fans, just keep in mind that this means we can actually beat up that stupid dog after so many years of his taunting! XD!
DeviantProtagonist:
I'm straight up convinced Duck Hunt Dog has the same amount of absurdity as Phoenix Wright in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, if not more. Either way, not only am I glad for his inclusion, I'll be wondering how the hell he'll work.
Regarding Ganondorf, a bunch of his A moves are actually different, like up smash, jab and forward air. Down air is also different in that it has it's own animation now. Forward tilt is different than Falcon... side B is a completely different move and is far from Raptor Boost. :3
He's about as much of a clone as Melee Luigi now, slightly less maybe? I don't even get the comparison anymore -- they just have similar animations at this point.

I am a fan of absurd characters that also fit into the game, so that's why Duck Hunt Dog gets a plus in my book. I do believe that he might be similar in regards to Amaterasu in UMvC3 given their similar posture.
As for Ganonpork, I do see where you're coming from. I do like how he IS different from Falcon more and more, but at the same time its still disappointing how he has a similar moveset to a character that has ZERO relation to him outside of Smash and other Zelda games (Hyrule Warriors ESPECIALLY) showed off that Ganondorf DOES have his own canonical fighting style. I would have preferred if Ganondorf got a brand new moveset while his old moves were given to a new F-Zero rep, like Black Shadow.
ChocoCats:
Come to think about it, the Duck Hunt Dog is the first 4-legged, playable SSB character but even then, I don't really care for him.
