Being able to turn off tap-jump is an utmost blessing -- now my combo/aerial game actually means something without drops.

Got up to five kills before I up and gave up. Even as I tried certain tricks like this one, there's just so many variables to screw one over. In this case, getting footstooled off the stage or the sudden Wii Gunner FSmash. :C

Sadly, you have to choose a name in order to use those customized controls, otherwise it won't work. Its jarring when even the 3DS doesn't do that, so what gives?

DeviantProtagonist:
Compared to the 3DS, the Wii U is more your 'shared', conventional home console, so I imagine that's why name selections are mandated. Regardless, it's not bad once you're familiar with the motions; what's an extra two-or-few seconds at the fighter screen?

I'm not saying it detracts from the game, I'm just saying its kinda bothersome if you've played the 3DS version and you didn't have to do that. I can handle the few seconds, but the fact that you have to do it every time and you tend to forget kinda bugs me.

Especially when I use the 3DS as a controller and I don't put my name in since my R button is broken and I wouldn't be able to guard the entire match. :/

About that...

Use the up special late because it is at the tip of the up special that causes the back slash. They almost always get send off stage Make sure you fast fall off the ledge (press down, not back), and double jump just high enough to where you want to do the dolphin slash. Don't double jump higher than you need to and then fall to where you dolphin slash, you will get footstooled. When you knock one off the stage, stay on the ledge until they fall far enough. You may get hit for hanging on the ledge but you are much more likely to die from getting footstooled if you let go.

Quoted by two Youtubers on that video.

You can also spam roll towards the left side and quickly throw the Mii off the stage if one of them gets close. Lucina's back throw has an invincibility frame during the throwing animation so take note of that. If multiple Miis are coming at you, jump off the stage, recover grab the ledge and attack. You're going to have to use this method to get the 4 KOs as Pit challenge. Be wary of Mii Gunner's Side-Smash though. Too bad the reward for Lucina's suck.
