SUPER SMAAAAAASH BROTHEEEEEEEEEERS!!!!!!!!!
« on: June 14, 2014, 10:56:13 pm »
Because why not? Its the most popular game in the fighting game genre next to Tekken and Street Fighter and so much anticipation is given for the upcoming fourth game. This thread will be about posting experiences with the series, what one is excited about, what one is skeptical about, and just all-around discussing Smash! Also, I will be posting new character and stage announcements whenever they come.

Happy Smashing!

Judging from the recent invitational, Kirby looks to be restored to that of his former glory. :3

Kirby got buffed to near Smash 64 levels, Sonic and Zero Suit Samus have lots more KO Potential, Link's speed increased with less input lag, Bowser hit the gym....... I'm starting to think there will be no bad characters this time.

Yeah, I noticed those characters got a respectable buff from the very same tournament. I'm still miffed by the fact Kirby got robbed of his victory from Samus, who looks redonkulous.

>:C

Never saw Sonic much, though, so I can't have a say. As for the lower end, I've been reading around that Little Mac suffers big time with FFA battles. Not so sure on 1v1's, however...

Because the match had to go into Sudden Death. Its a common thing during the E3 matches because of the 2-minute timed matches at the demos.

I saw extra pieces of gameplay that showed off Sonic. His final smash in particular has less attack power than in Brawl. Little Mac is exactly what the developers make him out to be, judging from gameplay. He is a monster on the ground but in the air, he's ass.

I also want to play Greninja and Pac-Man so bad!

Smash Bros. discussion board? Yes please!

Now that the character roster is actually getting some GOOD characters (looking at you, Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing Villager), I'm excited for the recent game. It seems like it'll be a fun addition.

Looking forward to Shiek and Zelda, though I'm honestly not happy about them being split up. I'm really good as both of them and I adored being able to switch between the two depending on what kinds of moves I wanted to use. Oh, well.

I was iffy on the announcement on separating transformations due to fearing it would take up character slots, but I grew to love the concept since Zelda, Shiek, Samus, and Zero Suit Samus are changed to be accustomed to this, which is good.

However, I grew to ADORE this concept once Charizard was announced as a STAND-ALONE CHARACTER! I thought Charizard was fun to play as in Brawl, even though he was hampered, imo, by being piggy-backed with Squirtle and Ivysaur (who aren't as fun to play) as well as bringing in something that I thought was kinda dumb. They brought Pokemon mechanics into the fray. Although they probably did it for accuracy's sake, I feel that the Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors factor of Pokemon doesn't translate well into Smash Bros. This is why I felt Ivysaur was a chore to play as, because she (yes, Ivysaur in Brawl is a female) is weak to fire and SO MANY other characters have fire attacks, which I felt crippled her.

Though here's my question, with the Pokemon Trainer himself pretty much confirmed gone, do you think Squirtle and Ivysaur have a chance of returning or are their chances as low as, say, Solid Snake? (Who is pretty much confirmed to not come back. Hideo Kojima expressed severe doubt and Pac-Man's announcement pretty much seals that deal for me. :P)

I guess I'll see how I like it. I'll definitely miss the transformation options, I think.

That, however, I can agree with. It's nice to have the Pokemon separated out so you can just play as one or the other. My sister's big on Squirtle, so she might be upset if it doesn't come back at all.

But somehow, I feel like the chances of Ivysaur (who knew she was a girl?) and Squirtle returning are kinda slim. With the addition of Greninja now, it might just have come down to replacement.

That and it would over-represent Pokemon. We have four confirmed Pokemon and EVERYBODY knows Jigglypuff is coming back since she has "first game immunity", so we have potentially five Pokemon representatives, which I feel that five is the limit this game, since Mario is represented with five characters now.

We do?
Hm...Greninja, Charizard...Lucario? Then, who's the fourth?
I hope they give Jigglypuff a better move set if she makes it in. Whenever I used her, she was always nearly completely useless. Maybe I just don't know how to use her properly.

Pikachu, of course! Can't have Smash Bros. without him.

Jigglypuff was amazing in Melee, you just had to learn how to use her properly. Brawl made her pretty useless, though. I hope she gets a buff with her inevitable return.

...*facepalm* HOW DID I FORGET PIKACHU.
DAHECK

I never played Melee with Jigglypuff (though I have played it once or twice at a friend's house), probably because I was so used to her being useless in Brawl that I didn't even bother trying. Let's hope she gets better.

I hope Rest (her Down Special) has the knockback it had in Melee. Brawl making that move worthless is the main reason I consider Brawl Jigglypuff to be useless.

Isn't that the one where in Brawl, she just sings a song and makes orange ripples? What's even the POINT of that move in Brawl?! I can agree that that's one of the main reasons I never use Jigglypuff in Brawl!

No, that's her Up Special, Sing. It causes people to fall asleep. Rest is the one where she falls asleep. If you time your position perfectly (you have to be SUPER close to your opponent), it'll send them FLYING!
