THE iDOLM@STER > THE iDOLM@STER ONE FOR ALL
Seeking assistance - Trying to figure out the specific requirements.
DJStarstryker:
Roger that! It sounds like you want to get this DLC for the compendium in any way possible, and are willing to try until we succeed. I can work with that - at least until the Lawson needs more teas. ;)
It is possible to get points for this campaign by buying a variety of other goods (specifically marked). The tea bottles seem to be the most cost-effective in terms of codes-for-the-yen though (at least that I have seen so far), which is why I suggested we start there. Not to mention green tea is awesome ^_^.
The teas are 129 yen each, and we've had three tries, which makes the total investment so far 387 yen. I'm saving the receipts so it will be possible to provide detailed accounting if needed.

I'll preauthorise (Namely, I won't ask any questions, just point me in the direction of where to send the money to you) about spending up to 1548 yen. (That's 12 green tea, and we're 3 down so far.)
I figured if we can't get it in another 9 shots, we've got a story on our hands while I start doing math on our chances, and I get to tell another sad tale about the lengths I go to just to catalog everything.
If you end up getting a second one, I've got an idea what to do with it though...

Sounds good. I'll PM you more details later on once we conclude the project with a success or a give.
For now I picked up another 8 bottles, for 1032 yen. This means we now have the whole cast except for Miki, whose bottle they were out of. I'll try again to pick up that one last authorized bottle another day if we need it. (so currently: 11 out of 12).
When I got home, I tried four times out of the eight and lost on all. For now I'm going to bank the remaining four tries we have and spend them a little later, trying different days and times of day. I have no idea what the algorithm behind winning this thing is, so changing the time of spinning the garapon may or may not help.... but it certainly can't hurt.

Okay, so if we assume 12 rolls gives enough for a 50% of scoring at least 1...
We're looking at a win rate of roughly 5% per single item, and that's assuming 12 gives a 50/50 chance of scoring 1.
Yep, long odds are fun odds. At 1500ish hundred yen, that's 30 AUD, which is a bit excessive, but I can deal.
The sad part is, I suspect those odds are WAY too high. I get the feeling the win rate on any given spin is 1%, meaning that you have a 12% chance of scoring 1 DLC code with 12 spins of the lottery.
(For calculations, I'm assuming the reverse position (namely the percentage you don't score) and calculating the single route where you fail every time)
The fun part is if you assume that these are the odds across the board.
You'd be buying green tea by the boxes to get enough for 12 tries for the concert. (You'd need 240 green tea for 12 attempts)
That's like 15000 yen, and that only guarantees you anything from under 50% to 12% (At 1% chance per roll) or just 2% (at 0.1% chance per roll) to try and win the grand prize.
The fun part is if you assume a 0.1% chance per roll - Getting 3 times the 240 green tea (Drink it 3 times a day for like 9 months) in points would only just over double your chances (to 4%) of winning.
I'm pretty sure at 48000ish yen, you might as well buy concert tickets yourself. :P
DJStarstryker:
Ah, but it gets better! The concert prize is super-exclusive and you can't simply buy tickets to this particular show. It's being held at Shimokitazawa Garden, which is a small SMALL venue that I've actually been to before to see Kanon Wakeshima. The 450 winners will be the entirety of the audience, and Garden is going to be jammed like a rush hour train with that many people in it. But the benefit is that you'll get to see the seiyuu up-close and personal, and look them in the eyes during the show. Normally iM@S shows are only held at 8,000+ person arenas (Makuhari, Saitama, etc), so this will be a very different experience for the super fans who win.
My family opened two of the teas to have with dinner. Amusingly, there's a hidden manga drawing of the bottle's character on the inside of the label for each one.
Takane says: "After you eat ramen, follow it up with some Namacha. Huhu!"
(Kirin Namacha is the kind of tea the girls are on)
