for anyone whos a fan of love live or interested in a rhythm game for your smartphone, it was just released in english today.
its also completely free so its worth a look its part rhythm game part visual novel
its on the store with the name school idol festival, they dropped the love live only on the apps name, in app its still love live which is odd but whatever lol.
its one of those free to play games where you play a little and then pay to get points or whatever to keep playing or wait until you get free points daily.

if you get the message "Illegal access detected, cannot start game" or something like that on Android, it's because you rooted your phone. It works if you temporarily disable your superuser rights. I read it doesn't work if you do it with "Superuser", so i installed "SuperSU" and it works if you disable root access with it.

good to note for those on android devices, im on ios and its not jailbroken so i cant give any info on how it is there
one thing to note though is that while the app is 40 mb, it downloads updates when you start bringing it up to 281 mb
so if youre like me and youve used up all your space on your phone taking pictures of your cats and figures you might want to free up some space lol XD

I downloaded it and gave it a shot, it's alright, the Rhythm part's fun but I'm not one for the visual novel parts (Mostly because Love Live isn't my thing story wise). But thankfully your points you need to access to rhythm part gradually come back at a rate of about one point per six minutes (or they fully reload whenever you rank up.)

I'm kind of hoping this will bring iDOLM@STER to the android platform to be honest.

Downloading. After Shiny Festa I'm rather neutral at best, frankly. I thought it wasn't that good and touchscreen will make this one worse than it could be, unless it's more Osu!-like, so designed for touch. But that'll make me not like it anyway, because I don't like touch games or non-button rhythm games. I'm curious how does it look, though.

Also, that root block really sucks (even if my tablet isn't rooted).

Just played the game for a bit. It's decent so far. I was never too big on Rhythm Games, but its nothing that'll make me avoid the game. I'll give it about a few more moments of play before I write a full review for it.

OK, so far I unlocked one song and frankly, it's pretty bad. Good thing it has more inputs than Shiny Festa but everything else? Meh. Charts don't look that good, gameplay screen isn't really well-made either - not much polish and I would argue that there are too many inputs, it's kinda too cluttered and this half-circle thing isn't that good of an idea.

Basically a typical cheap cash-in. Not even the songs are that good so far, if you ask me, but I realize I hardly heard much of them yet. Except I don't really have any interest to pick it up again and unlock more.

Unlike iM@S games, where the songs are made for the game, the game uses songs from other parts of the franchise. The one exception is the song that plays on the title screen, "Takaramonos", and the song that came on the same single, "Paradise Live".

Love Live! music can be generally divided into 3 types:
Upbeat Pop/rock style songs. e.g.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhC-HUYp19w#t=63
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu42AGH06pk

Less upbeat pop (not really sure what to call this):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34VEwDBjNYw

Music heavy on modern electronic influences:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvVt0M2KFh8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggINYF8xA2c

There are exceptions, of course, and even within the very generic categories there are differences, but that's what most Love Live! music seems like to me. There aren't even many slower songs at all. I can only really think of a couple.

The first 6 songs you can play will be in this order, not counting events or daily songs:

As for my thoughts on this app, something really weird happened. I have a 3rd gen iPod touch with iOS 5.1 (not 5.1.1). I downloaded the English version of the app today after having played many hours of the Japanese version (I'm level 49). For some reason, the Japanese version works perfectly fine, but the English version causes black to flash on the screen for less than a second and then closes. I think that it's either the English version requires a better iOS version than stated (both versions say that 5.1 is required) or there's a glitch with the app.

I don't get how people can like Nico, or Iori for that matter. But they both seem to be quite popular. Oh well, each to their own.

You won't believe how much trouble i had to install this game... My Xperia Ray only has an internal storage of 350 MB, and there was no way i could fit the game on it. And the big chunk of the data (230 mb) can't be moved to the SD card, normally... So i had to play around with partitioning my SD card to trick the phone into installing stuff on the SD card and thinking it's on the internal memory (using Link2SD). If anyone wants to try that: DON'T format the partition as FAT32, because you can't put those 230 MB on FAT32, make it as ext2 (or 4 if your phone can handle it, mine can't), and you'll need the Pro version if Link2SD (about 2$). Trying to remove this partition to format it in ext2 drove me nuts, i went to bed a bit before 2 o'clock in the morning, and it still didn't work. Of course i was an hour "late" at work (thank got it have flixible work times). Before i went to work i tried something else (i had to wait for the next train) and i finally got it to work, thank god.

I'll have to try the game when i'm at home this evening. At least, if the game isn't worth it i got an extended "internal" memory now, this has been annoying me for a long time.
